The only gen III Pokémon I collect is Nosepass but even I was really tempted to get the earbuds. SO CUTE. I love the Pokémon Time march in general and I really hope my favourites end up on it some day. (Even though I'd have to spend an arm and a leg to satisfy my collectionist urges and get everything. ;_;) I love everything in this set though and I wish I was a millionaire for obvious reasons.
Anyway, this really is probably just a merchandise thing. Most of the Pokémon Time stuff is older-gen so Gen III was probably overdue for representation in the set.
