Japan's Viewers Like the Anime?

I don't think basing your information on relatives is such a good source due to the possibility of confirmation bias and lack of understanding on the program in question. People have been predicting the cancellation of the anime since Gen 3, and that has proven to be wrong time and time again. Right now it's only facing serious competition with Yokai-Watch, and once that fad eventually fades, or if the Yokai-Watch anime ends, Pokémon will go back to healthy ratings again. It survived against Digimon, which is still ongoing, and it'll still survive against Yokai-Watch.

I showed them ratings. Ratings are basically the life blood of a show, and bear in mind, my relatives are of a different political leaning than I am (they're liberal, while I'm conservative), so don't think that we agree on everything, so no, it's not confirmation bias. Besides, they also are pretty well-versed in their field, since advertisements are also a huge factor in the survivability of a show and is often tied into ratings as well.

And for the record, healthy ratings would actually be within the 10s, like with NCIS or with the first season of Pokémon where it was well within the 15s. Ratings of 4.0 at best is NOT healthy ratings by any measure. If it were, plenty of shows would have actually still be continuing instead of cancelled at that range (like Heroes, especially when they had obviously cancelled it prematurely). Also, while I won't deny that Yokai-Watch is part of the problem, it's far from the only reason it's currently in its slump. Remember, compared to other premier movies for the generation, the Diancie Movie underperformed (most times, premier movies of a generation actually manage to get back to roughly the high point of a generation. It actually did just as well as the last movie if not slightly worse. It's even the reason why the Hoopa movie ended up having the lead writer replaced), and even BEFORE Yokai-Watch came out, there have been various reports on the show experiencing low ratings. Heck, there were actually a few topics discussing this.

We don't know the ratings for the XY episodes that didn't enter the top ten lists. May be one of the XY episodes got lower than 2.2. We have to find the ratings for these episodes.

Nice figures there Little Hero, but it is very terrible when you hear the episode where Ash's Tepig evolved into Pignite ended up being not just the lowest-rated episode for the Unova saga, but the entire series overall.

It is not terrible at all. The bad rating was the result of repeating the same story again: a fire type abandoned by its evil trainer. The writers deserve such rating.

I'm hoping for this shows cancellation to be honest. It just isn't good or original anymore.

Same here. I want the series to end. One of the reasons is: I don't want to read a review that has a bad description of the Pokémon fans. Anime news network described the fans of Pokémon badly in this 2008 review.

Nowadays, the magazine doesn't care about Pokémon anymore. As a Magazine for kids, CoroCoro knows what the kids in Japan prefer to read.
The center is now occupied by some other series including Yokai watch.

So this means Yo-Kai Watch is the new top kids' franchise in Japan? I know it's huge but pushing Pokemon into the more obscure pages means Pokemon will need to change a lot to hold up with the stiff competition.

Well considering --

1) The group chemistry sucks , Probably the worst ! Its like Ash traveling with his own Fanclub , They doesn't have The brutally honest Chemistry that Brock and Misty offered.

2) The only notable fact about Serena is happen to be her crush on Ash! That's the only thing interesting about her , Her character would have been even worst then Iris if it wasn't for her crush.

3)Amourshipping is not very popular with Core audience , Its just appealing to Older character who likes Shoujo manga.
You see, Kids enjoy the protagonist competing for their crush! However, Serena crush was already confirmed So Ash didn't even has to compete for her.Thats Why , The Core Audience find AmourShipping Boring.
Remember , Kids are SHY so they aren't too into those Doki Doki stuff Amourshippers want.
Not to mention , Ash & Serena chemistry SUCKS !

4) No Megevolution for Ash , Instate writer tries to replace Megevolution with something that literately kills Ash.
Plus , Ash also lost his possibility of having any Mega Pokemon ! Imagine those who waited for Ash's Charizard to megevolove only to learn that it will never megevolve.

5) Then Writers kick out Goodra , The Only fully evolve Pseudo-legendary and the Best Pokemon Ash caught in Kalos.

6) Worst part is , Writer gave all that to a Pipsqueak named Shota free of cost !
All Because he lost to Ash when he was a Rookie , Maybe Writer should gave him a freaking Arceus because he lost to Ash in the past.

7) There is no COMPETITION! There is no good rival worth competing and I don't feel any comperative Spirit from Ether Shota or Alain.
Alain is the only one worth competing but we don't know if he will aim for Kalos league !
Its as if Writer are too freaking busy with other anime to create better rivals for Ash! That's why they keep shoving Rookie trainer like Shota and Tiarno on Ash.

8) The Comedy sucks ! Only XY115 has notable comedy but it was still way too weak compare to original series and Youkai watch.

9) BW Series had 3 major Tournament that Ash lost But XY series isn't even trying to create any major Tournament when they could use a "Keystone" as a prize.
Is This Writer new way to make sure Ash doesn't lose any major Tournament ? By making sure there to be no Major Tournament for Ash to lose .

Director/Writers of this freaking series killing their own show !
