Okay so I made this term up, basically what's your opinion on anime characters who have a body like Johnny Bravo? Where their torso is humongous but their legs look like those of a chicken?
So far I only see this kind of proportions in One Piece but I'm positive there's more anime/manga where characters have this body type.
Idk, to me it looks kinda silly. If a character is gonna be big, their entire body should match. Kinda like Nappa from Dragon Ball, his legs are as huge as his arms lol.

I wouldn't really call it an aspect that adds humor to the series per say (since it doesn't make me laugh. neither do I think it would make others laugh), but something more along the lines of it intended to compliment the wacky nature of the series' art style. It just fits in there without looking odd and, in fact, it rather reinforces how wacky the series is - both visually and when it comes to premise.

I don't generally pay as much attention to character's bodies as you guys do so I don't think I've noticed any instances (apart from OP's case, of course). Sorry. :p But, well, can't we just talk about odd-body proportions over here? Like, what you are referring to is a specific case of it. I haven't seen that but there are various other cases which I have seen and can mention - for example, pick any character from xxxHolic. They're super tall. And slim. And TALL. Did I mention they're tall? Yes.

I want to say that it's anime, so logic shouldn't be implied, but then I'm remind of a friend I use to have from another forum who is very picky about body proportions, and clothing proportions, in animated characters regardless if they're for comedic value. If a character has physically impossible body proportions such as the Johnny Bravo syndrome, she'll automatically despise that character.

^ I'm perfectly aware of that. Code Geass is another example where the same thing can be seen and for the very same reason - that clamp is behind the art it as well.

Still, it is a valid example for being brought up in this thread since we're discussing oddly proportioned character art.

I think Brock (Pokemon) has same habit of chasing after girls like Johnny Bravo.
As For Body , ''Jojo's Bizarre Adventure'' is full of them.
