Jumping the Shark

I think Johto was a big downturn for the anime due to all those fillers.

But luckily, AG was excellent and helped turn the show around.

Well I feel, the show hasn't jumped the shark, it keeps getting better and better each series. Take series one-three for example, it had the humor and good music, characters were great. But no character development and the other characters besides Ash did nothing, some times they'd battle that's all. In series six-nine, the main girl character finally was given a cool goal and had some great character development, along with some really good rivals. Ash was also the more mature one of the group, however he had no rivals to make things intresting. That's where series nine comes in, Paul is introduced to us and is giving us more reasons for us to root for Ash. Not only that, they give the main girl character an even bigger role than what they did with May. Down fall, is they didn't have good rivals for her and her contests got boring, will they some how fix it with Iris? Will she have a goal later on in the series? Or will Dento? Lets remember they treated Brock horrible and he hardly got to battle, maybe they can treat Dento better than that which I hope cuz I'm really liking him.

it jumped the shark

The series jumped the shark during the Johto era with all the filler episodes-it focused more on these side stories rather than Ash getting gym badges and entering the League's competitions as the Indigo and Orange Islands seasons did.
It jumped the shark again (if there is such a thing as doing that more than once) when Misty left at the end of the Johto era.

You are a idiot if you believe the show jump the shark during Johto which was never the case and the fillers in Johto were the best.

The stories about Ash getting gym badges were still the same in Johto as they were in Kanto and the Orange Islands sagas.

The show jump the shark when Misty left and May and Max came in at my god they were terrible characters, the AG series is truely for sure were pokemon gotten worser and more crapper,May rivals were ok but they still suck and May was an awful charcter.

Once Sinnoh saga came around the show jump the shark for the worst when Dawn enter the scene and her Piplup was a pain in the ass like Max was,Paul was a very pointless rival and they gave the fans nothing more but a another boring character with hardly any personality.

You couldn't root for Ash due to who crappy Paul character was and the Sinnoh saga was a very ****** idea to start with,Dawn rivals were terrible and the Sinnoh series had pointless crappy filler episodes this was truely the worst era of pokemon ever, thank god for the Best Wishes series.

I disagree with all of this completely. (PS. Learn to respect other people's opinion instead of calling them out and labeling them 'idiots' for not agreeing with you. Not cool, bro.)

I honestly don't see a time where the Pokemon jumped the gun but the made decisions that they thought felt best for the new generation coming into the anime and they kept things fresh. I am most certain that I would've gotten bored of Misty if she was on there for 13 years without a purpose like Brock since he lost his purpose completely. People got really tiresome of Brock and I see that people miss him now and I do too but it's only because he was an original character. I am certain that if Misty had stayed on the show for as long as Brock did then there would be alot of people who would be sick of her just like there are people who are sick of seeing Pikachu. It's just how it is.

I think the addition of May and Max was great. It gave us a whole new insight in the Pokemon world that we wouldn't really have experienced had it not been for the writers in them introducing the contests and such, thus introducing May who was a great character all around (though she wasn't like by some because she replaced the original female protagonist which is cool, you know. Most people who think that are older fans of the show and have their opinions.) I honestly don't think they were terrible characters to the Hoenn saga. I thought they were a breath of fresh air from Misty and the writers actually giving someone other than Ash a bigger role was great and it proved to be very successful and popular, which is why they introduced Dawn.

Now I don't know what's everyone's beef with Hoenn and Sinnoh but I personally thought Sinnoh was a great region and the characters on there although weren't as strong as May's Hoenn rivals but they were okay and sustainable for the viewers who are children, something we should all remember, even if they are older viewers. The show is intended for young children and after a 3-4 year season, they need to refresh and introduce the show to a whole new generation of children, so I understand them for introducing new character in every region.

Do I think that the writers need to do something better? Yes.

Do I think they're jumping the shark? No, because it hasn't ever declined in quality (Advanced, Diamond & Pearl, and Best Wishes proves this since it's been popular and in demand both game and anime.) and popularity hasn't dipped, hence why the show is still on the air.

I do argee about calling people idoits due to their opinions,i was wrong about that part.

I say pokemon jumped the shark after pokemon season 1.(Advanced was ok,Diamond & Pearl was a terrible series and the worst era of pokemon,Best wishes is ok from the very start.)

Hoenn series and the Sinnoh series haven't really proven that the show have not declined in quality at all,it is still a popular show but not as popular like it used to be during Pokemon season 1,the only reason why it is still on the air is due to the writers wanting to still make money off of a show that became tiring after the Johto series.

I think it jumped the shark at Johto because of the anvilious fillers. I know it was anvilious before, but it got worse. And then it got even more anvilious in Advanced; although they cut down on the fillers by bringing in Contests and the Battle Frontier.

I didn't watch DP, but BW is good. :P

I say it jumped the shark more with the Advanced series then it did with Johto, the Battle frontier and the contest were a whole lot better then the ones back in Hoenn.

DP was a terrible series due to that annoying Dawn.

If the anime jumped the shark anywhere, it was probably after Ash battled in the Indigo League, if not sooner, due to excessively recycled gags even in the first season. Not that I've minded them too much.

It's technically less impressive now than it was during the Johto saga, but the more recent stuff actually has more plot variance than we all give it credit for when compared with the early seasons.

In my opinion, the series was ruined during Johto, but saved by Best Wishes. Johto had soo many fillers which made it boring to me. I just couldn't connect with anything in Hoenn, and although Sinnoh was an improvement for me, I didn't like all of the contests Dawn was always competing in.

Best Wishes seems to be pretty good so far. :)

Well, although I don't really agree with them really ever actually jumping the shark, because I do agree with quite a few people when I say it gets better every series. Even if there are those little disappointments, the rest of the series usually make up for them.

Of course every series has it's flaws though, so I will rule out a few I didn't like;

  • The amount of fillers in Johto were very boring, I didn't like waiting so long between badges n' all that.
  • Misty. Although I have accepted that Misty leaving was a good thing too, I still her her a lot, she was a great character. But I still love Max, May and Dawn either way, they're all great characters.
  • More fillers in Sinnoh, I mean seriously, we had to wait 52 episodes in between Snowpoint and Sunnyshore gym, though you could count out the Team Galactic thing if you like, since I enjoyed it. :P
  • Going through the Sinnoh League and Grand Festival too fast. I was very disappointed in this, I mean we had to endure so much time sinnoh only to be rushed through the league and grand festival so they could air Black and White. (Well, at least that's how it felt)

Ugh, tough, you've got to quit bumping threads.

If you truly believe that disrespecting people because of their opinions is wrong then why do you insist on doing it? If you proceed with all this disrespect we're going to have even more infractions handed out.
