Magical Stone Excavation is to be shafted down to 1 per deck effective the upcoming june 1st. (refer to upperdeck itself for official statement, but I'm at work right now and upperdeck is filtered XD)

Obviously, a direct attack against DDT...

    Comments, everyone!

...I don't see it anywhere on their site...where did you see it?

It goes to a forum post made by a UDE representative..."supposedly". Yet there isn't a thing on the UDE site...hmm.

Anyway, this does seem like an attack on DDT, but they stilll have other cards to work with (Destiny Draw, that one older card with the same effect that I forget the name of at the moment, Lightning Vortex) so the engine should still run well enough.

Nyu, let's not forget that Magical Stone Excavation is an important part of the feedback loop; not just heavy-duty dumping but also a way to return key cards like Destiny Draw, Dimension Fusion and Lightning Vortex from the graveyard. DDT players are not going to be happy about this change. Anyway, Spell Reproduction is not really an option since it requires two spell cards for the activation cost (Rather than just two of anything), that's just way too situational for DDT since they prefer to play their spells.

I meant for the Diamond Dude drop. Spell Reproduction (thanks for the name) will do the exact same thing as Magical Stone Excavation if dumped through Diamond Dude, which you'll probably get happening. I agree that this is a damaging hit, but DDT can still survive (that is, until Neo-Chaos really picks up steam ;) ).

(If nothing else, we'll see A Feather of the Phoenix spammage to make up for it)

The problem is not just what other methods to retrieve spells... rather, it's what replacement methods are there to ditch destiny heroes to the graveyard AND get a spell at the same time... Magical Stone Excavation is not just getting back spells, but ditching Jinzo and whoever else to the graveyard on top of it.

    It makes sense...

Though I don't know how much the game will change with it restricted. Not much of a impact. =x

Which is why I brought up A Feather of the Phoenix. Toss a monster to get it in the Graveyard while at the same time getting a Spell card set up for Diamond Dude's effect.

That is, unless you already have it maxed out...

Nyu, Feather doesn't really have the same momentum since you'll have to wait until the next turn to get your spell back. Anyway, considering the shameless exploitaition opportunities that DDT recieves from that card (courtesy of Diamond Dude's restriction bypass) they're probably being run already. :3

This is probably the most suitable place to post this but the Gadgets are going to be restricted to two each. This might not be true but on WC07, they're restricted to 2. Lucky for me! I only bought two Machine's Re-Volt! Our beloved Cyber Dragon may be restricted to 1.

Also, Reasoning might be banned. :(

Nyu, figures that they'd want to restrict Cyber Dragon seeing as how it's one of the most splashable cards ever printed (I'm more surprised that they held it off this long). But you know, summoning Cyber End and Cyber Twin the good old-fashioned way has just become that much trickier. Guess it's all Metamorphosis now, unless someone feels like running Proto Cyber Dragon for the pleasure. Overall, it looks like it's Gadget that took a beating this time, seeing as how their main source of monsters was cut by five. Is it just me or is every banlist change these days bent on taking down a single deck build? Seems sort of petty. D:

Usually, cards that get banned are those that terrorize TCG or the OCG. Gadgets long faded from the OCG setting as it's far too slow in comparison to Light and Darkness Dragon, Demise OTK and the likes... Monsters really do not battle as much as before without blasting the field of monsters already, so those shrink really does not help a lot, and they're usually a key component of gadget decks too.

Cyber dragon does terrorize TCG though, since it's a major component of the all time monarch deck and is in 3 for almost every deck except Demise and Six Samurai... Cyber Dragon down to 1, I can see, but not Gadgets to two...

I have no idea why WC2007 has gadgets to two, because they usually have it on the current OCG banlist, and the OCG right now has gadgets at three because *nobody* plays Gadgets there anymore. Their time is a bit... over.

Reasoning being banned is also a possibility. When Konami declares war on a deck, they want it banished and never return ever again for life. Any card that has any relationship to the deck, will sort of die one way or another. In this case, DDT is the one under attack, so I will not be surprised if either monster gate or reasoning are gone.

...We're talking about a game where it's possible to get no banlist at all. Let's wait until we have proof outside of that...

By the way, there hasn't been any change to the banlist today.
