So battle 40 in Battle Maison was easy.

Batle 41 lead with a Terrokion that OHKOed my Scolipede, Mega-Khangaskhan, and NidoKing. Without ever being hit.

I recorded the battle. Terrokion was faster than my Greninja! WTF!!

I was so close to 50, then they just OHKO my whole team without even trying. Nidoking resists Rock and Fighting... but Terra has Earthquake.

My Normal Strategy is to Baton Pass Speed Boosts and Swords Dance to Mega-Khan who can KO anything. But Super-Effective Critical Hits from Terra make it impossible to set up, so I switch out. Terra was naturally faster than my whole team. OHKOs for all...

Third update:

Smaug the Charizard L41
Nutella the Chesnaught L38
Cthulhu the Malamar L33
Alondite the Honedge L32
Godzilla the Tyrunt L30

Finally got my taste of Team Flare! They're totally weird, lol. But they use cool Pokémon. I found the scientist who gives you the fossils and decided to choose the Jaw Fossil, even though I think the Sail Fossil might have rounded off my team a little better. I left the Sky Battle trainer alone but I'm only backtracking when I get Fly since this region is quite large.

After this, I went to Cyllage City and challenged the Rock Gym. Grant was pretty easy, I swept him with Nutella. Then I pushed the boulders in the Connecting Cave, went to Route 10, fought some more Team Flare guys and arrived at Geosenge Town. I beat Korrina for the first time (it was raining so Smaug was at quite a disadvantage) and went to the Reflecting Cave.

Good lord, what an awful place this is. I liked the Woobat/Ferroseed gimmick, but this cave is just too unnecessarily long for this point in the game. Caves make me anxious. I left the cave and arrived in Shalour City. I went to the Tower of Mastery, received the explanation about the Mega Evolutions, beat Serena for my right to bear the Mega Ring, and I saved.

This game is not very good for grinding, but the Exp. Share sort of alleviates that.

I started my adventure in Y on Tuesday the 7th. So here is Entry 1! It's a bit late but here we go!

My journey in Kalos began in my room when being woken up by the family Fletchling. Not the best way to be awoken, but it works. I got up and looked around and explored my room a bit. I have a pretty nice TV and a black Wii U and controller so it's much better than my real room. Soon after that, I headed downstairs to then be greeted by my mother. She told me about how we just moved in the new home and how I've never meet the neighbors yet. I need to go meet them, but first I need to go change out of my pajama and into some street clothes. Once I was dressed, I headed out and meet my neighbors Serena and Shauna. They were very nice and Shauna was really cute! After an introduction, Serena suggested I go with them to get Pokemon in a town up north. They really talk about this Professor Sycamore more guy. I wasn't acquainted with my town yet so I explored around and visited the townsfolk and then went off on my way.
I met up Serena and Shauna again in the town down the road, Aquacorde Town . They introduced me to two of their friends, Tierno and Trevor. Tierno suggests I have a nickname to go by and after the group brings up a few really crappy ones, Serena says I should pick it myself. So I went with "A-Ron" . Then finally it was time to pick my starter Pokemon. Tierno already had them with him. It was either Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie. I took one look at Fennekin and thought it was the cutest so I instantly with her. Shauna picked Chespin and Serena went with Froakie soon after. Once everyone picked their starters, Trevor pulled out a Pokedex and handed it too me. Tierno then also hands me a letter from Professor Sycamore that he suggests I give to my mom before going on my journey. I get up to head back to Vaniville Town and as I'm about to leave, Shauna stops me and challenges me to my first battle. My Fennekin easily beats her Chespin though! Battling feels really good. After the battle she healed my Fennekin and soon I was on my way back to Vaniville.

When I arrive at home, my mom is there to greet me. I give her the letter from the Professor and she reads it over. She really likes his fancy handwriting. She's surprised I want to go on a journey so soon after moving in, but approves of it completely after noticing how happy Fennekin looked with me. She gives me a Town Map to help me on my way. As I'm about to leave for a long journey, our pet Rhyhorn approaches us to say goodbye. I've known him since I was really little so I know he's gonna miss me. But now I official start my journey as a Pokemon Trainer!

I headed back to Aquacorde town and explored the place. I received a free potion from a really nice guy and made my way out. The next route was Route 2 where I saw Shauna and Serena waiting for me. Serena decided to show me and Shauna how to catch Pokemon. It looked easy so I really didn't pay attention much. Afterwords, she gave each of us then Pokeballs and let us try ourselves. Soon after , I caught my own first Pokemon, a Fletchling! It really reminded me of the Fletchling at home so I felt the need to raise and name it. I felt ready to go on. Right as I was about to enter the Santalune Forest, I had a nice battle with a Youngster named Austin, the first of many trainer battles. Then I went right away into the Santalune Forest. The area was massive and I caught a good amount of Pokemon while there. Good thing is Shauna tagged along behind me and healed my Pokemon as we went along. My other friends meet me at the end of the forest ready to go to Santalune City. Once we were out, Serena handed us something called the "Adventure Rules" which were basic tips on how to be a good trainer. Then after a few more trainer battles, we made it to Santalune City.

Santalune City was a new environment to me so I decided to look around first, but I went to the Pokemon Center to see if I can heal my party. Tierno met me inside and showed me around. After healing my Pokemon, I change the jeans I had one and went to explore the city. I bought a nice new hat and talked with a few townfolks there. While I was there exploring I saw a girl on roller skates. She looked familiar so I came up to her and talked. She challenged me to a battle so of course I accepted. I beat her rather easily and she gave me a pair of Roller Skates of my own. I thought "why not try these out." and skated around town with them and even rolled into the nearby route, Route 22. There I battled a few trainer and cause some more wild Pokemon. It was getting tiresome skating all the time so I thought do some R&R and play with my Pokemon in Pokemon Amie. It was so cute petting my Fennekin and play games with it! I also played with my recently caught Riolu and Pikachu. After all the cute petting and feeding, I finally decided to get down to business and go head to my first Gym victory. Inside the gym I meet a guy who said I must climb down a string of web get to the gym below. Once I climbed down, I dropped onto a giant spider web with water droplets all over. It was sort of confusing to navigate, but I finally made to the Gym Leader who introduced herself as Viola. She introduced herself and mentioned about being a Bug type specialist who also was a photographer on the side. She took my picture and we soon went into battle afterwards. Her Surskit and Vivillon were no match for my Fletchling and Fennekin and we got the Bug Badge really quickly! I soon charged out with a smile on my face and decided that my next destination would be Lumiose City. Checked my map and read that I had to take route 4 to get there so I settled out on my merry way. As I was at the Santalune gate near Route 4 , a woman approached me. She introduced herself as Alexa and said she was a journalist and the older sister of Viola. She heard of the story of me beating her sister and suggested I visit here in Lumiose City. I was going there to meet Professor Sycamore so why not. She congratulated me on my win by giving me a gift ; an Experience Share. Alexa explained that the Exp. Share was a very helpful tool that increases the EXP. Points a Pokémon gains. So I turned it on for a while cause it sounded helpful. I then went on to Route 4 where I meet even more trainers and new Pokemon. At the end of the route I saw two people (a male and a female) waiting there. They told me more on the new type, the Fairy type then properly introduced themselves as Dexio (male ) and Sina (female). They said they were assistants of Professor Sycamore's and would lead me to his lab. I followed them through the Lumiose entrance gate and they gave me TM 27 Return. They then led me to the city.

As I entered the city, I was left in awe of how beautiful it was. All the buildings were huge and swirled around. Dexio and Sina directed me to the Professor's lab and I follow their lead. I walked into Professor Sycamore's lab and stared at the beautiful art and paintings on the wall. Hi lab was really nice looking. After looking around a bit, I took the evelator to the third floor and there is where I met Professor Sycamore. We started talking and then Shauna and Serena showed as well. Professor Sycamore suggested that I give him a battle and I insisted we did. The battle started and he used three very rare Pokemon ; Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. They weren't' really hard battles and we beat the Professor easy. After the battle he explained they were the starter Pokemon given to new trainers in the Kanto region. He decided to give me one of them for myself. I looked at them and saw Squirtle was a Water type which I figured would be helpful with a Fire type such as Fennekin so I picked him. Professor Sycamore handed me the appropriate "mega stone" for Squirtle , Blastoisinite. Just after the battle Tierno and Trevor came rushing in. The Professor explained Mega Evolution to use a bit and how much potential It had. I was still confused a bit, but I guess he'll explain more late on my journey. After that I talked to one of his assistances and she gave me the move False Swipe! I then headed downstairs again to the lobby. As soon as I stepped out the elevator, I saw there was a strange man with big red hair. At the moment he was with one Sina, but he introduced himself as Lysandre . He seemed to have a have a lot of hope for me and really talked about his goal to create a beautiful world. He really wanted me to help. I don't know something about him passed off as suspicious. After this meeting my friends came down from the elevator. Serena wanted me to meet her in the Café Soleil , but Shauna wanted to also show me something first. I was in no rush to meet up Serena so I went with Shauna first. She showed me around a place called PR Video Studio. This was a place where I could make short 10 second films with my Pokemon. Apparently I was able to customize every tiny detail and that the video would be used when I battle trainers online or through wireless. I spent a lot of time on this, making a video that was really hilarious. Once I was done making PR videos, I thought I'd stop before meeting with Serena.

I did a few Wonder Trades and played In Amie more after this. Caught some more Pokemon too, but I haven't progressed further yet. My first Wonder Trade , I gave the trainer a Dunsparce and got a Chespin back! I've gotten some grade Pokemon is Wonder Trade, such as the level 45 Durant I got last night!

My current team so far.

I have over 20 Pokemon so far, but I'm choosing these for as my main team. I decided to not evolve Fennekin till level 20. I just want to play with it in Amie as a Fennekin a bit longer! It's too cute to let go! Plus it learns Fire Spin earlier as a Fennekin than a Braixen so there's that too. I'll continue ASAP hopefully with a shorter entry!

Back at the Pokémon center, I rotated my Pokémon. I kept Cubone with me and then had Oddish(1), Farfetch'd, Vivillon, Meditite, and Zubat sent to me. I then returned to Glittering Cave.

I also received a medal after some training, making 41 total.

January 1, 2014

Happy New Year! Looking forward to catching lots more new Pokémon this year!

I decided to finally press on further in Glittering Cave. I found some mining cars and tracks leading through some tunnels, and there was some random guy wearing sunglasses and a bright red suit here. Sunglasses in a cave?? Anyway, he seemed irritated that I stumbled upon him, and told me he was from Team Flare. Oh great, looks like even Kalos has their criminally insane team. He said their goal was to make sure that their goal is to make it so that they are the only ones who are happy. Well… that's straightforward evil. At least Team Plasma tried to disguise their activities as something that would benefit Pokémon. He then attacked me with his Houndour! Houndour? Haven't seen that Pokémon in a while.

"Houndour, the Dark Pokémon. Houndour check each other's location using barks that only they can understand to corner prey. Around dawn, their ominous howls echo through the area to announce that this is their territory."

The fire-type was no match for Cubone's Bonemerang, and then his subsequent Zubat was no match for my Vivillon. A little further down the tunnel I ran into another Team Flare grunt, this time a girl. She used a Gulpin and an Electrike!

"Electrike, the Lightning Pokémon. Electrike store static electricity in their fur for discharging. They use this static to stimulate their muscles to heighten their reaction speed."

I defeated her as easily as I did her cohort. Then I came across Serena and two more Team Flare grunts. My Cubone and I teamed up with her and her Espurr to battle them. Their Scraggy and Croagunk were quickly defeated. As we explored further in the cave, Cubone was practicing its Rock Smash on some nearby rocks. It found a bunch of Dwebble and a handful of Hard Stones, and then it found something rather interesting. I picked it up to look at it, and it looked very familiar. I think it's a fossil I've seen before… I know! It's an Old Amber! I'll have to bring it back to the research laboratory in Ambrette Town.

Then all of a sudden I saw something fall from the ceiling of the cave. I took a closer look. It was actually some Ferroseed! When I went to get a closer look, something else dived at me. A Woobat!

"Ferroseed, the Thorn Seed Pokémon. Ferroseed absorb the iron they find in rocks while clinging to the ceiling. When threatened, they attack by shooting a barrage of spikes, which gives them a chance to escape by rolling away."

"Woobat, the Bat Pokémon. Woobat leave a heart-shaped mark on bodies they attach to. These marks are said to bring good fortune. They emit ultrasonic waves from their noses to learn about their surroundings. Their habitat is dark forests and caves."

After a little more searching, I was able to catch one of each of these two Pokémon.

100. Woobat

101. Ferroseed

Then we finally found the other researcher. He said he just discovered two fossils. He offered one to each us, but Serena declined the offer. So he handed me the Jaw Fossil and the Sail Fossil. I can't wait to see what kind of Pokémon can be revived from them!

Having finally completed my exploration of Glittering Cave, I made my way back out to Spikes Passage. Outside, I saw a trainer atop one of the cliffs doing some aerial training techniques with his Ledian.

"Ledian, the Five Star Pokémon, and the evolved form of Ledyba. Ledian have spot patterns on their backs that grow larger or smaller depending on the number of stars in the night sky. When the stars flicker, these Pokémon flutter about, scattering a glowing powder."

The trainer challenged me to a sky battle. Apparently, sky battles are a common type of battle in the Kalos region, and are obviously restricted to Pokémon that can take to the air. So I battled Ledian with Zubat, and after a close battle, we won.

I then hopped on the Rhyhorn that I parked outside the cave, and made the journey across the cliffs back to Ambrette Town.

January 2, 2014

I took the fossils I found in the Glittering Cave and brought them to the laboratory in Ambrette Town. The Jaw Fossil became a Pokémon called Tyrunt! It looks very closely related to Crainidos, but then I noticed its type. A fossil Pokémon that's part dragon-type, cool! The Sail Fossil became an interesting Pokémon called Amaura, and this one was part ice-type, which is equally cool. The Old Amber, as I expected, was revived into an Aerodactyl.

"Tyrunt, the Royal Heir Pokémon. Tyrunt have immense jaws that have enough destructive force to chew up an automobile. If something happens that they don't like, they throw a tantrum and run wild. They lived 100 million years ago."

"Amaura, the Tundra Pokémon. Amaura lived in a cold land where there were no violent predators. They are restored from parts of their bodies that had been frozen in ice for over 100 million years."

"Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokémon. Aerodactyl are vicious Pokémon that are said to have flown in ancient skies while shrieking high-pitched cries. They were regenerated from a dinosaur's genetic matter that was found in amber."

102. Tyrunt

103. Amaura

104. Aerodactyl

The researcher that we found in the cave did not have any more information regarding mega evolution, however. I was given a strange stone that the scientists said they found amidst a high concentration of Old Amber in the Glittering Cave. It looked like the stones that Professor Sycamore gave me, so I kept it with those.

With that mission complete, it was time to determine my next move. Looking at the map, there's a city just a little ways up the coast from here called Cyllage City. Hopefully there's a gym there, because I feel like I'm well overdue for a gym battle! And I can't wait to battle with Cubone in its first battle against a gym leader. So I stopped in the Pokémon Center, contacted Professor Sycamore, and had Psyduck, Furfrou, Pansage, Axew, and Drifloon sent to me. Together with my Cubone, we left Ambrette Town and traveled on the lower beaches of the Muraille Coast.

I also got my first medal of the new year:
A-044-1 Adventure Archeology Lover A Medal to prove the power of science that restored Pokémon from Fossils and brought them to the present time. 01/02/2014

While I walked along the beach, I decided to see what I could find using my Old Rod. I cast the line and hooked a Luvdisc! I immediately tossed a Pokéball and caught it.

"Luvdisc, the Rendezvous Pokémon. Luvdisc live in warm seas. During the spawning season, they congregate at coral reefs, turning the waters pink. It is said that a couple finding this Pokémon will be blessed with eternal love."

105. Luvdisc

January 4, 2013

It's a freezing single degree winter morning, so I decided to head over to the Battle Chateau for some Pokémon battles! The first trainer I challenged had a Ledian and a Mr. Mime.

"Mr. Mime, the Barrier Pokémon. Mr. Mime are adept at conning people. Emanations from their fingertips solidify the air into invisible walls that repel even harsh attacks. They create these walls by miming."

I then battled a bunch of other trainers, giving my whole team some good experience. Then I returned to Muraille Coast, and battled a trainer there who had a trio of Tentacool.

"Tentacool, the Jellyfish Pokémon. Tentacool drift in shallow seas. Anglers who hook them by accident are often punished by their stingers. Their bodies are virtually composed of water. They shoot strange beams from their crystal-like eyes."

Further up the beach, I found another fisherman who was a trainer, and this one battled me with two good ol' Kanto Pokémon, Shellder and Staryu!

"Shellder, the Bivalve Pokémon. Shellder have hard shells that repel any kind of attack. They are vulnerable only when their shells are open. Clamping onto opponents reveals their vulnerable parts, so they use that move only as a last resort."

"Staryu, the Starshape Pokémon. Staryu appear in large numbers by seashores. At night, their central cores flash with a red light. Even is their bodies are torn, they can regenerate as long as the glowing central core remains intact."

And finally, I battled a swimmer who had a Masquerain!

"Masquerain, the Eyeball Pokémon, and the evolved form of Surskit. Masquerain flap their four wings to hover and fly freely in any direction. Their antennae have eye patterns on them."

It was just a short distance past that, and I arrived in Cyllage City! There was quite a bit to see and do in this town. Among other things, I got myself a bike, bought a new t-shirt, got some Soda Pop, and stocked up on other supplies. I visited Hotel Cyllage and my Cubone was awarded a Snooze Ribbon, my first ribbon since my Pokémon Coordinator days back in the Sinnoh region. I miss Pokémon Contests. I then stopped by the café in town, and paid to sit at the counter. One of the other patrons sitting at the counter with me had a Munchlax with him!

"Munchlax, the Big Eater Pokémon, and the pre-evolved form of Snorlax. Munchlax conceal food under the long fur on their bodies. They cart around this food stash and swallow it without chewing. However, they tend to forget they have hidden this food."

I then tried out my new bicycle by riding it along the bike path that was carved out of the side of the mountain. I ran into a guy named Grant, who, in addition to being a pro bicyclist, was the Cyllage City gym leader! He showed me his gym, which was carved inside a large cave and had rock climbing walls throughout it, as well as a giant waterfall crashing behind it. I'll have to come back here after a bit more training.

I stopped in the Pokémon Center, had my Pokémon check out by Nurse Joy, then rotated and had Burmy(M), Skiddo, Illumise, Mienfoo, and Zangoose sent to me. I also received two new medals!

A-036-2 Adventure Great Customer A Medal for rich people who spent $100,000 at Poké Marts. 01/04/2014
A-004-1 Adventure Starter Cycling A Medal given to beginning cyclists who rode a Bicycle for the first time. 01/04/2014

The Professor is introducing me to the world of Pokémon, telling me we use their power and lend our strength to help each other grow which was something I already knew but it was great I got to witness a marvelous painting! I could name almost every Pokémon on there and was eager to learn the names of the ones I didn't recognise.
He asked me if I'm a boy or a girl and what my name was then told me that I should prepare for a journey through the Kalos region!
Was this a premonition or a dream? I woke to a Pokémon tackling me that had flew into my bedroom.
I jumped up out of bed and ran to check my Facebook on the laptop my Dad had bought me. I then ran downstairs in my pyjamas which my Mom didn't like and asked me to go change. I expected breakfast to be ready after I did but she just insisted on me meeting the neighbours.
I listened to her for once and opened the door, waiting there were two girls whom I assumed lived here in town, Serena and Shauna. They told me that Professor Sycamore wanted five children to go on an adventure and that I was one of them.. Serena didn't understand why I was chosen since we had just moved to Vaniville Town after all. I was wondering the same thing myself when they left and said to meet them in the next town over.

I learned that Serena lived next door to me and met her Mother then spoke with a few people around town, I couldn't find Shauna's house however.
I left for Vaniville Pathway worried I may run into a wild Pokémon, fortunately there wasn't any tall grass.
The route didn't take long and I quickly arrived in Aquacorde Town. I heard someone calling my name but I wasn't sure where it was coming from after being asked if I loved Pokémon by a woman waiting tables, I realised I was going the wrong way.
I sat down at the table where Serena, Shauna and two other guys were. They were introduced as Tierno and Trevor and insisted on giving me a nickname? What am I, a Pokémon?
Of the three given to me by my new friends I decided to pick M-Meister which Shauna thought fits me perfectly!
Tierno then dug inside his bag to reveal three Pokéballs and said that we were to pick only one.. It wasn't hard to chose even though I loved them all; I decided to pick Chespin, Shauna went with Froakie and Serena was left with Fennekin. Trevor was also generous and gave me a Pokédex.
After naming my new Chespin Chester; Tierno, Trevor and myself left. They went in search of Pokémon and I had to get permission from my Mom to leave on an adventure!
Shauna wanted a battle before I left the town which I couldn't refuse, she sent out her Froakie and I summoned my Chester to the battle field. Using two Vine Whips was all it took to knock out her Froakie which she didn't seem too happy about, that was one win under my belt.
Back home my Mom packed me a change of clothing and I set off on my journey. After stocking up on some Potions in Aquacorde Town I was on Avance Trail where I defeated a Pidgey and was taught how to catch Pokémon by Serena, something I already knew but Shauna didn't from her reaction.
Before she left Serena gave me ten Pokéballs that I could use to catch wild Pokémon. I then battled a trainer stood at the entrance of a forest then went back to town to allow a woman there to take care of my Chester as there wasn't a Pokémon Center in town.

I lost track of my levels. I'm sorry. ^^

Smaug the Charizard L53 (I think)
Nutella the Chesnaught L52
Cthulhu the Malamar L51
Alondite the Doublade L51
Godzilla the Tyrantrum L51 (I think)
Big Bertha the Clawitzer L45

Basically, I did quite a lot of stuff after the last time I posted. Caught a female Clauncher and trained it. I beat the Coumarine gym very easily, basically I just unleashed Mega Charizard X on the leader and it was gg.

Then I saved the Power Plant from Team Flare. I'd totally pay the $5,000,000 fee to become a member! They're probably the coolest evil team in the series. I found a really huge masked man who I have no idea who he is but think he'll play a major part in the storyline later on.

Beat Clemont (aka Mousse from Ranma 1/2) easily, too. Heliolisk isn't particularly strong. Then I went to Route 14, which brings memories of Sinnoh (SINNOH CONFIRMED!) and arrived at Laverre City. I inadvertently walked into the gym and decided to fight my way through it. Since my team has no less than three Pokémon weak to the dreadful, girly Fairy-type, I had a little trouble, but also because I wanted to train Big Bertha and she was at roughly the same level as the Pokémon in the gym.

Valerie (aka Erika clone) was probably the most difficult gym leader so far, because of Sylveon. It has great Sp.Def, and Charm to take care of the physical side. I probably could've beaten her with Alondite but I was impatient so I went with Smaug. I made a point of not using Mega Evolution against the girly gym, and I prevailed in the end. She gives me Dazzling Gleam (TM99) and off I go to the Poké Ball Factory.

There I find Team Flare again, so more cool music. I fight my way through, beat the Admin and the two scientists (whose names I unfortunately don't recall, hope I can fight them again), and the president gives me the Master Ball for my effort.

And I saved at Laverre City.

Also I caught myself a Goomy at the marsh.

New update...

Smaug the Charizard L66

Big Bertha the Clawitzer L65

Aaaaand the story has come full circle. I beat Lysandre and caught Xerneas.

Before I get into that, let's just say this game makes the serious mistake of allowing you to overlevel your Pokémon too much. Therefore, none of the battles are memorable, because I'm like 15 levels above everyone, and I had to hold back to avoid knocking Xerneas out.

Lysandre's motives remind me of that recent movie, Elysium. Resources are limited, so let's get rid of all the ugly people in the world and build a new utopia. It's a classic theme, and it's understandable why Lysandre does that, if you read his notes in the labs. Interestingly enough, there are quite a lot of people like that in the world. People who view the poor as beggars who hold back the progress of the gifted ones, people who want to get rid of the filth (criminals, addicts, mental patients)... And these people, unlike Lysandre, sometimes aren't recognized as villains by the society. I bet many people would like for a Lysandre to exist so that he builds a weapon that magically wipes out all the undesirable people from the world.

The story... It's a good concept, but I don't think the execution was as good as in BW. In Pokémon games, usually the evil team arc meshes in well with the main goal of collecting the badges and becoming the Champion. The climax of the series was BW (a game which people see as filler but was a turning point in the series IMO). In XY, however, it takes a while for you to meet Team Flare. It's before the second badge, like in most Pokémon games, but the path from Santalune to Cyllage is very long. Also, there are a lot of important things for the story that are rarely mentioned, like AZ. You see him once, then there are some scattered mentions of him here and there, and the next time you see him is when he's imprisoned by Lysandre. Then, there's the reveal of the worst kept secret in the game, that Lysandre is the leader of Team Flare. It's done so suddenly that it almost makes me not care. Suddenly, the guy who's known as owning a corporation that helps trainers unmasks himself via Holo Caster and starts saying some stuff like "Team Flare is going to unleash a weapon into the world"... Lysandre doesn't sound believable when he says that. We only know he's going to do it because we've been fighting Team Flare, but what about the ordinary person who views Lysandre as a rich benefactor? It didn't work very well.

There's also the issue that Team Flare has too many unnecessary characters. The scientists don't really have a personality of their own. The game that best handled admins was Platinum. You saw them lots of times and could even relate to them. But in XY, they're basically just grunts with names. Only Xerosic has a special Pokémon I think (Malamar).

To sum it up, the story was fun to follow, but looking in retrospect, it's not that good. It's a good concept that wasn't executed very well IMO.

I also tested Pokémon Amie a bit, and it's fun. I suck at the puzzle game, though, so I use the others to get Poké Puffs. I haven't seen the Pokémon Amie boosts, but it's not like I need them, since I'm so overleveled that nothing can touch my team.

Inside Santalune Forest I met back up with Shauna and she told me not to worry as she would be willing to heal up my Pokémon if they were injured.
After battling Youngster Joey and winning due to the fact he didn't have his superior Rattata with him I spent a while searching for the first member of my team.
I spent some time bonding with Chester and he started to grow on me, I also caught myself a Fletchling and Scatterbug. Soon after I ran into a wild Pikachu and added him to my party.
This Pikachu didn't have a light ball attached so utilising Shauna's kind nature to heal up my Pokémon I caught as many Pikachu as I could with the Pokéballs provided hoping one would be holding the coveted item.

Upon arriving at Satalune City Pokémon Center my Pikachu had now gained a lot of experience from catching all of it's fellow Pikachu and battling the trainers on Ouvert Way. I gave him the Light Ball and healed up then broadcasted a trade request using the PSS to trade my Chester for a Bulbasaur, the second member of my team.
She was level 1 so I had to give her some training on Route 22, East of the City.
There wasn't much else to do after this other then challenge the Gym Leader Viola, she specialises in Bug Type Pokémon which could be a problem for Bulbasaur so I brought my Fletchling along.

I defeated three trainers within the gym and healed up before meeting the pro photog herself, she sent out Surskit and I sent out Bulbasaur quickly switching into Fletchling to take a Quick Attack.
After a few Pecks and Surskit using both Bubble and Water Sport she only had her final Pokémon.
I switched to Pikachu and started spamming his Thunder Shock attack and Potions to handle the Infestation Vivillon used against me!
My Fletchling and Pikachu had helped me defeat Viola and I obtained the Bug Badge, as a reward I fed them both many Poképuffs and petted them in Pokémon Amie.
I stored Fletchling in the PC and healed up at the center. I was also given the Exp. Share from Alexa, Viola's sister for defeating the first gym and proving myself.

After visiting Geosenge Town, I travelled further on Route 11, battling a couple trainers. I successfully caught a wide assortment of Pokémon. These include Sawk, Nidorino, Hariyama (which I had actually managed to catch with a Great Ball), Chingling, Didenne, and Staravia. I also started training my Pokémon again for the next gym. While training, my Wartortle evolved into Blastoise. Also, my Fletchinder evolved into Talonflame, and Braixen into Delphox.

I haven't finished training, but here is my Pokémon team as of tonight:

  • Delphox (Lv. 40)
  • Talonflame (Lv. 39)
  • Blastoise (Lv. 38)
  • Linoone (Lv. 36)
  • Pancham (Lv. 36)
I will be training some more before heading into the cave ahead.

I'm enjoying playing with my Pikachu in Pokémon Amie but it was stopping me from progressing so I put him back into his Pokéball and left for Parterre Way.
On the route I was able to catch Flabébé the Single Bloom Pokémon in three different colours; red, white and yellow.
With there being three gardeners on the route each owning a Corphish, my Bulbasaur was able to gain a decent amount of experience allowing her to evolve into Ivysaur!
As I was about to enter the connecting gate I was stopped by the Professor Sycamore's assistants Sina and Dexio, they told me about how Flabébé is a Fairy type Pokémon and how it has changed the type match up system, they also offered to show me to the Pokémon Lab in Lumiouse City not before giving me TM27 Return.

Upon entering the city Sina went towards the lab asking me to follow her, first I headed to the Pokémon Center to heal up my Pikachu and Ivysaur. I also went to get myself a hair cut although it looked exactly the same, only lighter in colour. I went inside the lab and was told the Professor is waiting for me upstairs, I entered the lift and when the door opened, the Professor was there to greet me, finally we meet. He asked to see my Pokédex so that he could evaluate it, 32 Pokémon so far which he seemed impressed with although the jingle I heard said otherwise. Just then Serena and Shauna appeared which led Professor Sycamore to suggest that we all have a Pokémon battle and that he shall be my opponent.
He used all three of the Kanto starters; Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.. the latter I had no trouble against as both my Pokémon had a type advantage. Bulbasaur was eventually knocked out by Ivysaur since they're only level 10 and I asked Pikachu to deal with his Charmander. The Professor wanted to give me on of his Pokémon to take with me on my journey and I promptly chose Charmander and added him to my team. I was also given the Charizardite Y but planned on allowing my Charmander hold another item, the Charizardite X as he was a Jolly nature.
Tierno and Trevor arrived late to the party and the Professor then told us the reason why we were chosen, to discover the mysteries surrounding mega-evolution.
Before leaving the lab to heal up, Sina introduced me to Lysandre the head of Lysandre Labs.
Serena also wanted to meet in Caf
é Soleil.

I've started my journey with my friends Jan 15. My name is Muse and so far I've been taking it slow after leaving my friends, who call me 'The Soloist', I continued the genesis of my journey by collecting my 1st badge, going out with Shauna in some rich guy's mansion, planting a bunch of berries, ranking up in some rich society training mansion, and catching them all as usual. Last night I conquered the 2nd gym, evolved the 2nd half of my team and right now I am chasing Team Flare through the town of stones but I think I've lost track of them.

Greninja (Hopsin) Lvl 37
Combusken Lvl34
Slyveon Lvl 34
Noivern (Dark Knight) Lvl 31
Meowstic (Raven) Lvl 32

Pokemon I've left:
Panguru (Pan Pan) Lvl 32
Gardevoir Lvl 30

While doing some training inside Glittering Cave, my Burmy evolved into a Mothim!

"Mothim, the Moth Pokémon, and the evolved form of a male Burmy. Mothim flutter around at night. They love the honey of flowers and steal honey collected by Combee."

106. Mothim

Then, back at the Pokémon Center, I rotated my Pokémon again and took Audino, Burmy(3), Pancham, Seviper, and Spoink with me.

Cubone took part in some more Super Training regimens, earning awards for all 3 levels of all 6 categories. Next time, we'll try out some of the Super Secret Training regimens.

January 8, 2014

I trained my team when I could the last few days, then this morning rotated in Gulpin, Panpour, Scraggy, Inkay, and Absol. I did extensive training with them in Glittering Cave, and then returned to the Pokémon Center. That finally marks the end of the current rotation. Though there are plenty of Coastal Kalos Pokémon I haven't trained yet, I'm anxious to win my second gym badge, so I'm turning my attention to that!

I thought about which Pokémon I want to bring with me to the gym. I decided from here on out, I want to use new Kalos Pokémon only in the gyms, with an exception made for my partner Pokémon Cubone. So, with that in mind, I explored my options. Fletchinder, Vivillon and Litleo are poor match-ups for a rock-type gym. Skiddo and Floette know some grass-type attacks, so they might do well. Pancham and Honedge have type resistance to rock. Bunnelby has both ground and fighting-type attacks it can use. Furfrou, Espurr, Spritzee, Swirlix, and Inkay have neutral coverage. I haven't trained at all with Binacle, Helioptile, Tyrunt, or Amaura. Ok! Seems like an easy choice. Skiddo, Floette, Pancham, Honedge, Bunnelby, and Cubone it is!

So I took the team into the Cyllage City Gym or some practice matched, and I battled a trainer there that had a Relicanth! I haven't seen that Pokémon in a very long time.

"Relicanth, the Longevity Pokémon. Relicanth are rare Pokémon that were discovered during a deep-sea exploration. They have not changed in over 100 million years."

January 9, 2014

I went back to the Cyllage Gym to train some more for my gym battle. I found a hiker who battled me with his Roggenrola. I battled it with my Bunnelby, who won with a combination of its Double Kick and Mud Shot attacks. And after winning, my Bunnelby started to evolve! Who's that Pokémon? And… did its ears just grow their own arms?

"Roggenrola, the Mantle Pokémon. Roggenrola were discovered a hundred years ago in an earthquake fissure. They have an ear that is hexagonal shape. Compressed underground, their bodies are as hard as steel. Inside each one is an energy core."

"Diggersby, the Digging Pokémon, and the evolved form of Bunnelby. Diggersby are as powerful as excavators. Their ears can reduce dense bedrock to rubble, and they can heft boulders of a ton or more with ease. These qualities make them a big help at constructions sites. When they are finished digging, they lounge lazily."

107. Diggersby

Cool… and it also gains ground-type, giving it even more of an advantage in this rock-type gym! I then battled a few more trainers, and one of them had a Nosepass.

"Nosepass, the Compass Pokémon. Nosepass have magnetic noses that draw iron objects to their body to protect themselves better. The nose consistently faces north. Travelers use this feature to get their bearings."

Grant said he was ready to challenge me, so I stopped in at the Pokémon Center to have Nurse Joy treat my Pokémon. Then I chose the two Pokémon I would be battling with, and returned to the gym.

I did as Serena asked and met her at Café Soleil where Lysandre was talking to a woman called Diantha about her acting career, they left shortly after.
Serena wanted us to compete against each other but didn't want a Pokémon battle at this moment in time.
I was on Route 5 where I caught myself a Pancham and Skiddo and decided to spend a while inside wonder trade. I eventually got myself a Squirtle and added the little guy to my party.
I did a little more training allowing my Charmander to evolve!

It wasn't long before I arrived at Camphrier Town and rested up at the Pokémon Center before visiting Shabboneau Castle, it seems Shauna had the same idea.
We were being given the short tour before someone rushed the tour guide away to Route 7.
Shauna suggested we should go there too.. I got side tracked upon entering the Berry Field where I was given a job and started planting my own berries. Pushing on I ran towards the crowd standing around a sleeping Snorlax, apparently this was a usual problem for the people in town. One person claimed we needed the Poké Flute to wake it up and it was in the possession of the owner living in Parfum Palace. Of course Shauna volunteered us both to go and retrieve the flute.. I went up Route 6 leading to the palace main gate where the toll was 1,000 poké dollars!

Once inside, the owner was frantic with worry over losing his beloved Pokémon, Furfrou. I looked all over the palace trying to find it and never thought to check the back garden where it had wondered off to.. Shauna and I got to witness the owner's fireworks display before asking for the Poké Flute.

Journal Entry - Postgame

So I've already beaten the Elite Four and have decided to complete the pokedex, I have seen three hundred and thirty eight pokemon so far and instead of catching whatever I see I have decided to catch every Kanto Pokemon first so today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my pokemon adventure. So first off I sorted my boxes out and labelled all the boxes 1-30, 31-60 and so forth. I then went on to place every pokemon I have in the correct order that was in the kanot dex, I have a spare box for other pokemon. So one rule is that I need to have one copy of every pokemon so right now I have a charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Weedle and well it goes on. I started off by catching three caterpie's then deposited one of them and went over to the Pokemon Village to grind them up, it only took two battles and pressing the B button once but it got me the Metapod and the Butterfree which is nice. I then traded with Kanzler to get myself a charmander since breeding one would take too long. I also went on to catch a Pidey in route 2. I had a bit of trouble catching one particular caterpie that took 8 pokeballs to catch... not much fun. I finished the night trying to catch another dodou but I think breeding is the only option.

So today I bred my sandshrew so i can get a Sandslash and I bred my jiggkyouff for the igglybuff and jigglypuff part. I wondertraded a bit to find some good Kanto pokemon but all I got was a cubone which I will breed later on today. I caught a magcargo and slugma today mainly so breeding becomes quicker. I am trying to get some squirtles and bulbasaurs but so far I have yet to get them. I also can't find a thunder stone to evolve one of my pikachu's so that's the next thing on my list.

I beat the game!

The ending was very emotional. It was nice to see AZ reunite with his Floette.

Also nice that everyone's efforts were recognized in the end. Makes me feel a little better after seeing Serena's disappointment every time I beat her. I wanted to throw a match to please her, but doing this doesn't advance the story, so it's useless. :(

The battles... I don't have much to say, because they were very easy. My Pokémon were nearly L80 by the time I reached Diantha so even she didn't pose much of a threat. I'd have hoped for more Elite Four development but hey, RBY and RSE barely had any development at all and people don't mind... Diantha is a cool character, although I didn't like her team very much... Cynthia still has the best Champion team in the series.

Another nice thing is that Shauna trades you a starter depending on the Pokémon you chose. Since it's a trade, she wants something in return. Even though I'd never see the Pokémon again, I wanted it to be meaningful so I had a hard time choosing. In the end I just gave her a Flabébé since it was the first Pokémon I caught (I think) and fits well with the romantical theme between the protagonist and Shauna (I TOTALLY shipped them after the fireworks scene).

I have no idea what I'm gonna do now... I think I'll visit the previously closed areas first and catch Zygarde before I start collecting Pokémon for my Pokédex.

February 1, 2014 --

Just got finished training my teaming up for the night! I stumbled across Nidorina on Route 11, and caught her in a couple tries. I also did a sky battle up on the mountain. My Talonflame almost got creamed because of Staravia's Retaliate; I was essentially relieved that it hung on! And finally, I explored a little in Reflection Cave and battled Backpacker Lane, who stares at the mirror all day and apparently does not want to leave the cave for some weird reason. Ohhh brother, some of the nuts I run across.

Here is the status of my team:

  • Delphox (Lv. 42)
  • Talonflame (Lv. 41)
  • Blastoise (Lv. 40)
  • Linoone (Lv. 39)
  • Pancham (Lv. 39)
From the way it looks, my Pokémon are pumped up for the next gym! I'll be looking forward to it next week. But for now, I am going to stay in Geosenge Town, still shaking my head at the Backpacker who does not want to leave a cave.
