Ok, so when I was five or so I loved the show and still love pokemon. But now I'm looking at it and seeing that the show is a complete little kid show! Dose anyone else feel this way?

Oh and also, does anyone else think that Oak's new voice IS gary's old one?

Considering that this little kids show is based off a little kids game, I don't think there's anything to be surprised about.

I'm not sure about the Gary and Prof Oak thing. All I can say is that both of them have awful voices.

Completly agree! I loved the show when I was little but now that i'm older it just seems everything I liked about it didn't mature with me and stayed the same ha. But I try to watch an episode here or there when I get a chance to.

Also i'm not a big fan of the new voices for any of the characters.

Also I think it would be cool if they made a story line for a diffrent trainer, and made it more aimed for teenagers. Let kids have Ash and give us someone else.

Ha that would be sweet, they could have based it off of Gold's character or something like that.

    It's a kids show.

Also Jimmy Zoppi does the voice of Professor Oak now. That's why he sounds like gary.

He's the original VA of gary since season 1 and now goes under the name billy beach and last I checked ever since the switch to PUSA/TCPI he hasn't done anything with 4kids.

Gary was one of the few characters who didn't have a VA change and I guess doing professor Oak now he may lapse into gary's voice due to being so use to gary's character since he did it for so long.

Anyway yeah I see Pokemon as a kids show personally. Doesn't mean I enjoy it less. It'd be a bit weird for me if I enjoyed it less since I actually want to get into that sector of the industry. Making kids cartoons is what I really want to do in the future.

^ So the thing that makes Pokémon a kids show isn't the fact that it's a kids show but that it sucks? If you're going to troll people at least be good at it instead of making people read a bad attempt at being funny.

Anyway, it's a kids show. It's always been targeted at kids just like the games so it's kind of silly to think that it would mature with you. If you're still involved with the franchise today it's because you understand this and don't care that it is.

You're pretty bad at judging troll attempts, aren't you Vernikova?

I think it's pretty obvious that sandeon was complaining about the quality of the Pokemon anime, and attributing that to the fact that it is aimed at children. I simply pointed out that the poor quality of the anime has nothing to do with the target demographic - that the anime is bad because it's a bad production.

That's not trolling, Vernikova. And it wasn't intended as a joke either, Vernikova.

The problem is not that Pokemon is a kids show. The problem is that it is not very good.

How in good-sentry-buildin' heaven do you make out sandeon said it was bad?

I absolutely adored the show when I was a little kid (anyone remember getting up real early for Saturday morning cartoons?) It's been quite a while since then, and the changes in Pokemon shock me. I thought Pokemon changed for the worse, but then I saw an old Kanto episode from way back. It wasn't the same as watching it when I was a little kid. I guess that's part of growing up too.

Even though the OP didn't actually say it was bad, I'm saying it is. Although that's only my opinion and I think it's because I have grown up and the Anime hasn't. But that's ok, it was good while it lasted :D haha

Well duh. Half of the fandom expects the anime to be some heart-wrenching, blood-spattering, crazy feature...or at least as "good as Kanto". Please. Of course the anime is "kiddish", maybe even more so now than it was-it's for kids!

I don't even know why I'm bothering. People will whine about BADSUCKISHGAYDUMM etc etc etc the Pokemon anime is now for years to come...>.>

I'm sorry, I'm just tired of reading the same thing over and over...I'll retreat back to...wherever...

All I can say is that I like to see old episodes, as well as new ones. Doesn't mean I'm pleased with it, though. I mean, that's true that it'd be good to see "two Pokemon Series" one with Jimmy/Gold and one with Ash, the Jimmy/Gold one being more for teenagers like us, because I don't see a 30 years old pokemon fan watching again and again the anime with Ash and Pikachu. x]

Just giving my opinion on this, hun ~

To be honest, I can see reasoning as to why a lot of older fans, who watched the anime as a child, wouldn't be too fond of either re-watching the older series or following the newer ones. However, this thread has been filled with negativity. I just want to shed some light on the subject.

I don't watch the anime religiously, not in the slightest. I've only seen a total of one or two episodes from the fourth generation of the anime. Fair enough, there might not be the most technical storylines within the anime and for the most part it can be repetitive -- but so to are the games. Just because the games are repetitive, doesn't mean I'll stop buying or playing them, because I love Pokemon for what it is.

I'll rewatch the anime for nostalgia reasons, but more importantly, because I love Pokemon and I don't see that ever changing -- so what, I might be a little too old for watching the anime, but I still get enjoyment out of reliving moments from my childhood by watching it. As for the movies, they always have a good storyline behind them, and where as I can't defend the anime series for having good storyline, I can defend the movies. They are what I'd watch the most, because I can enjoy them, even at my age, for the concept and original stories behind each of them.

The point? Really, maybe it is aimed at kids, but isn't the entire Pokemon franchise? Just because it can childish for the most part, I get over it, and enjoy it for what it is. Pokemon. What we all love and why we are all here.

Believe it or not, I like the anime. Even now. Though I have the mental age of an eight year old, I do like it. It's a nice guilty pleasure, really. I can enjoy the childish things because I'm still a kid at heart.

It is kiddish, but so am I, in some weird way. I saw the D/P series up to Roark, and that was pretty good. If I find a place to watch the anime, I'll re-watch it gladly.

Yes, I watch it. Yes, it's kiddish a bit. I'll tell you when I start caring.

Not exactly a lot of older people watch it too. But, for me I stopped. So, then I guess you can say that.
