I really never thought I would be making this. But, alas, I am. Today, I figured out GIMP and I've found out how to do some neat stuff. So yeah, I'm gonna show it off here. Remember, I just started today, so my work isn't going to measure up to CME's or Aizuke's. This isn't a shop, however soon I may open one. So give me your critisism, and enjoy!

    Spoiler:

OMG, Kimberly made a gallery! :D

    I really love these! <3
    Great work~

Thanks Mike <3 they only took like 5 minutes apiece including finding the picture xD

    Thank you, another GIMP user!

Well, I gotta say, you did find out some nice tricks with GIMP. The custom isn't THAT ugly, maybe just fix the text. =o But, not bad work. Pretty good. If you experiment more, you'll have better work. =]

Haha, thank you. I'm still trying to figure it out ;3

Wow, Kimmy, you're not bad. :3 Keep practicing and I know you'll get really good. ^_^ It took lots of practice for me. :3

Well I'm also a GIMP user doncha ya know! :3
All I have to say is don't use GIMP effects except for blurring/sharpening and maybe some distortions. Try do get better colours in the fonts and try to make it match with the image.
Instead of stocks try getting some renders (here is good) and get some C4Ds (here are some to start of with). Once you have all the resources you need go through some tutorials there is a thread on this forum with some where you can learn to smudge and make different effect layers.

    Thanks Sam <3

I'm gonna download the PS trial, it costs too much for the full version :[

I only have PS CS3, but I suggest CS4, because it has a ton of new features, and there are some tutorials on it on YouTube. :P
