Rewind back to you childhood. At one point or another, you have probably come across the wonderful toy building blocks that are LEGOs. If you've never heard of what these are - or are just living under a rock - put down your copy of Minecraft and listen up. LEGOs are a popular line of construction toys that are used in an interlocking manner which in reality allows your imagination to run wild. You can build yourself your own small community, a fast race car, a out of this world spaceship, and the list goes on and on as the creations you can make are limitless. I personally have many, many fond memories of my brother and I just spending rainy days just playing with our LEGOs and going on min-LEGO adventures around our house, pretending we were climbing mountains, slaying dragons, sailing the seas, and so on. The other day though while I was just skimming the Internet, I came across something...very, very intriguing and exciting. What did I come across you might ask? A site by the URL of www.ideas.lego.com.

Daily Music - "Private Idaho" by The B52's
    Spoiler:
What idea.lego essentially does is that it's basically the LEGO version of Kickstarter. Have you ever thought of creating your own LEGO project and having it published, shipped, and sold world wide? Then this is the site for you! Basically what happens is people are able to publicly submit their own ideas to the site, and if it surmounts enough support - i.e. 10,o00 people - then the design goes under LEGO Review. LEGO Review consists of a board of marketers and designers who then look at the logistics of the project to make sure it follows all of the criteria needed to be an official LEGO project. If it does pass this phase of the process, then your LEGO design is transformed into an actual LEGO product where you'll receive a portion of royalty sales, have your name and self featured on the product, and are recognized as the product's creator. Some LEGO designs that are currently in the LEGO Review stage include a Sherlock themed set, a The Big Bang Theory themed set, a Doctor Who themed set, a Legend of Zelda themed set, an Adventure Time themed set, and many more.

Daily Comic - "Pictures" by Dave McElfatrick of Cyanide & Happiness
    Spoiler:
I personally think one of the funniest ones that is currently in review mode is that there actually is a LEGO Minecraft thing. Obivously, that's a "win-win" for both Mojang and LEGO Corporations, but it's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. They are essentially the same exact concept, only that the LEGO bricks will be skinned to look like cobblestone, dirt, wood, ores, and so on. Considering how many people actually play Minecraft - and considering the fact that this is a game that a lot of parents allow their young children to play because it's not violenti n nature - it's going to make both companies a fortune, but I don't really see the appeal of it. I'd rather just play with the normal LEGOs that I already have (or fly the Millennium Falcon and Y-Wing's I build when I was younger and really into Star Wars LEGOs.)

    Spoiler:
What kind of projects would you like to see be made in a LEGO form? Would you possibly ever think of throwing out your own idea on the site? Did you ever play with LEGOs as a kid? What was some of the coolest stuff you created? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!

‡ As always, the "Daily Bloggity" is self written by myself and includes just some of my opinions on different mediums. If you have a subject that you might want me to touch on, feel free to PM me or comment below! I would love to hear some of your ideas! Tune in tomorrow at 5PM Eastern Time for the next edition of the "Daily Bloggity!" Cheers! ‡

  • I love LEGO! Did you know that LEGO comes from Denmark? Every danish kid has a box of LEGO. Seriously, it's the best toy ever.
