I'm pretty sure anyone can recognize from the name that he invented the Les Paul guitar line, with has guitars used by other major influences like Jimmy Page and Slash.

Les Paul, one of the most revered guitarists in history and the father of the electric guitar, passed away last night, August 12th at the age of 94. Paul's manager confirmed to Rolling Stone that cause of death was respiratory failure, and a statement from Gibson indicates Paul was suffering from severe pneumonia and died at a hospital in White Plains, New York.

    Comments, anyone?

Usually, I wouldn't be posting a thread like this, but this is seriously sad. He was 94, so of course his death was bound to happen sometime. I'm a guitarist, and Les Paul was one of the guitarists who influenced me.

Like it says at the end of the article, "He will be greatly missed."

He lived a full life, and made great accomplishments.

    RIP Les Paul

And another one bites the dust... How many celebrities is that now? I know it was his time and it is sad, but it does seems like a lot this year.

Shame, but hey, he sure did live one heck of a life, didn't he?

Also, this thread fits Other Entertainment perfectly, hence why it's been moved over there.

    RIP Les Paul.
Great man. He's left a legacy behind him. Truely was a great man and he's changed the face of music for the better, I would go that far.
He had a long life and an outstanding one at that.

I only know the name Les Paul from Guitar Hero but he will be remembered for many guitar related things, RIP.

That is sad, but he lived for a long long time.

I can safely say that he lived a great life..And to die at the grand old age of 94 was brilliant fiet in my eyes.

    RIP.
