look at this email my college sent me

Nothing intense, but one time I saw a capybara sitting in the tall grass near the river. Which weirded me out since they're South American animals.

Later it came in the news. Apparently three of them escaped from a facility where thy're being bred. I didn't even know they bred capybaras anywhere.

I want a pet capybara! They are so cute ;3

You mean you haven't encountered legions of snakes in your suburb? o.O
I figured that was pretty standard all over the country.

Haven't ever seen one, haven't ever heard about a sighting of one. However, a few kilometres away and a few years ago, a boy was killed by one of the more venomous snakes. That's it, really. The most unsafe thing here has to be the people.

I lived in Monterey during my college years, we're pretty OCD about keeping things natural, plus I was a biology major that had a field observation class. As a result, I've had a couple of up-close encounters with some wildlife, but nothing serious.

Most serious was me taking a walk early morning and being a couple of meters in proximity to a coyote and we stared at each other like "oh, it's one of those strange creatures" before the coyote just walked off.

Also, I once had a sea lion swim under me while snorkeling off the coast. Other than that, most of the wildlife I interacted with either fled at the sight of this strange creature carrying this aluminum cylinder on his back or just simply kept it's distance.

To be fair, the most unsafe thing most places is the people.
