6th Gen Looking for: Cyndaquil and Poliwag!

I can breed a poliwag, but I'd like to see what you can offer. I don't know if gen 2-5 pokemon can be obtained in the friend safari.

Two things:

1. Cyndaquil isn't available in the game until December when Pokémon Bank is released and people are able to complete the National Dex.

2. This isn't the Trade thread.

What does that mean?
I'm new to X and Y but not new to pokemon.
(My last version of pokemon before X was Pokemon Fire Red... Game boy lol)
 
Pokemon bank is a new X/Y feature. Other starters cannot be acquired by any means possible, 1st gen and 6th gen being the exceptions. Also Fire Red was your last game? You missed two (three if you missed R/S/E) generations, each one introducing a new feature, whether it stays or not.

Right. Currently, you can only obtain the Pokémon that are available in Pokémon X & Y. Cyndaquil isn't obtainable without trading from previous games. Pokémon Bank is a new feature that allow you to trade your Pokémon from Pokémon Black/White/Black 2/White 2 which means that all Pokémon will be available as people will just trade their Pokémon from before (including Cyndaquil). But Pokémon Bank isn't out until December

Also, "generations", just means the engine of the games that are released:​


Generation 1: Red, Blue, Yellow
Generation 2: Gold, Silver, Crystal
Generation 3: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen
Generation 4: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, HeartGold
Generation 5: Black, White, Black 2, White 2
Generation 6: X, Y​
 
Generations are when new regions and pokemon are introduced. New games you could call them I guess. So far there are six generations. Bottom line is you can't get cyndaquil yet.

And when people talk about "generations" in reference to Pokemon, they're talking about each set of games and the Pokemon revealed in that generation.
