Hi. I just came across some of my old Pokémon card that I collected back in 1998/99. All rare and some very rare cards. They are all in a binder and are in perfect condition. I'd say mint condition. I also came across the 23k gold plated card that came in the Pokemon ball. Never been opened. Still has the certificate card.
So i guess my question is; I'm trying to find out worth/ value of cards. I looked on eBay and I'm seeing same cards going for $500+. Just not sure if that is right.
    Can anyone help me?

Going to move your thread over to our Pokemon Trading Card Game forum, since you'll probably get some better help over there with your question.

Without knowing what cards you have, it's tough to get a good estimate on what the ones you have are worth. And keep in mind, just because similar cards are listed for a certain price on places like eBay, doesn't mean they're always selling for that price.

So, question 1: are those eBay listings the prices people are attempting to sell them at, or have you gone and filtered by listings that actually sold? In 99% of cases, $500+ is just wishful thinking by the seller. As in very wishful thinking, like trying to dupe someone naive into buying the card.

For Pokemon cards, they're basically never worth as much as you think they are, and never as scarce as you think they are.

Yes, those prices i saw, were of people trying to sell them. What you are saying does make a lot of sense. I was just blown away by how much people on eBay are trying to get for there cards.

Do you know of a good avenue to get them apprised? I was thinking of taking them into a comic book store near me and see what they have to say. Any thoughts? I have no doubt that some are worth a little bit (well i think) eg. Promo cards and some foreign... i really don't know to be honest.
    Thanks for the help.

Comic book stores usually use TCGPlayer.com as for most current cards of the big 3 cards games, its prices are accurate. For many cards, you could use that yourself, but otherwise use the Sold Listings filter on eBay searches and average out the prices for the cards that actually match that particular card.
