I don't know if there is already a post like this i checked a few pages back and couldn't find any.

But anyway, just as the title says, how hard did you find them? and what ball did you catch them with?

I just recently caught Lugia on SS and it took me to attempts. I switched out to my Dragonair to use thunder wave and accediently clicked to use a heavy ball. But unexpectantly I caught it! :D

    how were your experiences?

I'm going really slowly. I'm making these games last as long as I can. I found Lugia relatively easy to catch. I had my Timid Espeon first in my party so I could get a Timid Lugia. I used Shadow Ball twice, then switched to Slowbro and used Yawn. I used Surf to change it's HP slightly. Rain Dance powered up the move too. I threw a Dusk Ball and caught it on my first try. I soft-reset eight times to get one with good IVs though. Three of those eight times, it was notably harder to catch and twice it was the wrong nature.

Lugia took my 3 tries, I just got it down to really low health and my Amphy would usually paralyze it. First time it KOed all my party, 2nd time I ran out of Ultra balls (Yes all 30 of them) 3rd time I used about 10 Ultra balls and same tactics. It's not worth using the master ball.

I found Ho-Oh rather easy. False Swipe + Sleep Powder + (Dusk Ball x Night) = √Easy Win
Lugia was a little tougher, what with him being about 12 levels higher than be and all, but there was still little trouble there.

Both were extremely easy for me. I got their HP in the red zone and spammed Dusk/Ultra balls. I don't think I even had to reset for either.

For me, Ho-Oh was freakishly easy to catch. :B
The first thing I did was Hydro Cannon it with my Feraligatr, who was lucky enough to land a critical hit. The little sliver of HP that Ho-Oh had left was practically microscopic.
So I chucked an Ultra Ball, and I caught Ho-Oh just like that on my first try. :'D I think this was my easiest legendary battle yet.

I haven't caught them yet, but in SoulSilver, my plan is to trade over my "ICutMyself" (Scizor) with the moveset Swords Dance, False Swipe, Bullet Punch and Quick Attack. On Lugia, i'll set up Swords Dances and then False Swipe it down to 1 HP. Then i'll switch to another Pokemon i'll trade over from Platinum, my Togekiss, and Thunder Wave it. Then i'll start chucking balls at it and hope I catch it pretty easily.

Ho-Oh might be a different story though, since Scizor gets pwned by Sacred Fire <_<

Ho-oh took me DAYS to catch for some reason. I probably ended up resetting like 120 times. I was getting him down to near 1 HP and even putting him to sleep but he broke out of every quick ball, ultra ball, and dusk ball (at night) I used.

I got Lugia in my first encounter with it, and it only took 4 ultra balls. And I have HeartGold so Lugia was stronger than Ho-oh.

It was hard to get a Lugia. I cought my Lugia in a Pokeball. I wasted 165 pokeballs to catch it:)

I caught Lugia in about less then a minute, had Lapras with me and used blizzard twice with the second time of using blizzard getting Lugia to about 1hp and freezing Lugia. After that I used one dusk ball and that was it, I was surprised but it was about time I had a bit of luck catching a pokemon.

Took me forever to catch Lugia and even longer to catch Ho-oh.

Lugia just wouldn't get in the ball even when he was paralyzed and had the lowest HP possible. Don't even get me started on Ho-oh. Caught them both with an ultraball.

Yet, I don't find these two to be the hardest to catch in the game. Groudon and Articuno win that. Articuno wouldn't get in and he was only a level 50! I threw at least 20 ultraballs in a row without one wobble. Groudon just kept using Rest to restore his health. I can't believe they decided to give Rest 10PP's. Finally caught him with an ultraball.

There's already an existing thread on which Pokéball you used to catch Lugia and Ho-oh. It's best you use that thread instead. Also, the topic there can be used to tell how difficult it was to catch them as well, so yeah...If you want to find the thread, then follow this link here.
