Man gets arrested for biting son's toes!!!

It is when I hear stories like the boy shooting him mom, biting toes, nail gun, and the f-word on the cover of the yearbook that I think, "Wow, this is the country that I am paying taxes too?" I am an American, but I can only imagine what people overseas must think of us when they hear stories like these. Even Canadians must look down and shake their heads. I love America; its a great country. People need to get some sense though. This parent apparently needs to get his toes bit when he blinks at nap time to see how ridiculously stupid he was. To me, it isn't the fact that he bit the child's toes; it is the fact that he actually thought that biting his toes was a fit punishment. Whatever parenting book he is reading should be taken off the shelves.

I wonder if the news industry is crashing, because they're digging up some pointless stories.

Another reason to make people overreact and make new laws that make it nearly impossible to discipline children.

What kind of father is that? I think its okay that he gets his punishment, but 10.000$ and jail? a bit exaggerated...10.000$ would be enough.
I don't think that punishing children with violence is a way to raise them. Violence shouldn't be in any childhood.
If his son gets children someday, he could treat them the same way. Some violent parents are just violent, because they have been raised in the same way and think its okay. If he has problems with raising his son, he should forget his pride and ask for help.

The Dad is extremely insane!!!!
I mean like, who can do this!?

But whatever happened to the wife?? It sounds like she was just as guilty as the husband. In my opinion, they both should be jailed and fined. <__<

Actually, my boyfriend is taking classes to become a psychologist, and he told me one of the things he learned was that it's less likely for people to abuse their children if they were abused themselves when they were children.

Testimony revealed Hall and his wife, Virginia, would punish the children for blinking their eyes or moving while they were supposed to be napping.

Whatthehell.

In my days, a spank on the butt did the job.
Can someone explain to me how did we go from spanks to basically
torture?

Not only is biting on the toes to the extent of cracks and bruises a twisted and awful punishment, but for this:

Blinking their eyes? Being unable to fall asleep? It hardly sounds like they were dealing with uncontrollable kids. :/
