Manga >>>>> Anime all day

so as a returning fan to pokemon franchise, I thought I'd give the manga a go (adventures)
and as an older fan my opinion is....

well the manga is basically that OP Charmeleon you already have entering viridian forest, and the anime is a metapod... if you catch my drift.

It is so much better story wise, why is the anime not like this?

or is there an anime/ movies that follow Reds story? (other than a few origins episodes)
or that follow other characters stories? Gold/Ethan e.t.c

Manga looks to tell a story.
Anime looks to advertise the games.

(there was a special that followed Gold but it wasn't well received as Ash travelling).

I'm not an expert by no means, but it's obviously a lot more violent than the anime, and that had to be cut for obvious reasons, and in the case of the Indigo League, I suppose it was their first go at it, but the pacing was awful, even if I do love the series.
