Gold, he's the only Special character I can relate too. We're both crappy Trainers, spend copious amounts of time in the Game Corners, think that Blue is hot, and have similar Pokemon interests, minus the fact that I prefer Feraligatr over Typhlosion and Poliwrath over Politoed. Fitting, since he's one of my fave characters in the games, since Crystal was my first game. I personally find Silver to be quite annoying, since he's always acting so emo all the time. Emo and moody =/= deep character. Granted, Gold isn't very original himself, either. Silver is related to Giovanni, though, and that's a plus.

Gold over Silver, just because, while Silver has:
-Red Gyarados
-Kingdra
-Brains
-The ability to punch Gold in the face (noone else seems to be violent like that)
Gold:
-Has Politoed
-Has a Togepi that pwnd a Tyranitar
-Patted Blue on the bum, was the first in the manga to say "sex" (in that same scene, albeit as "sexy"),got punched.
-Is hilarious sometimes (although Diamond's better)
