Oh, most definitely its pasta. In an episode of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, he lists off some of his favourites; spaghetti, ravioli, macaroni, tortellini, mazzarelli, and linguini. I also think he mentions lasagna in another one. And let's not forget that he dreams of pasta in Super Mario 64.
 
I don't remember pasta being mentioned in SM64, which happened to be my very first N64 game. Heck, it was my VERY FIRST game EVER.

In Super Mario 64, set your controller down and don't move Mario at all for a little while. After a bit he'll say, "I?m-a tired!" and start to rest. If I remember correctly he starts to sleep here. Wait even longer and he'll go into a deeper sleep and dream of pasta, muttering "Ah, Spaghetti"
 
Mmm, I remember the episode where they were in the sauce…tunnel or something and they found a giant noodle. ^_^; Ahh, good times. I also remember imitating Mario's standstill sayings in SM64 for my grandmother.
 
I'll say Mario. He's much more popular, well known, his attacks are legitimate in every way, such as equally balanced. ^_^ Luigi may very good only on speed/jumping, but I prefer Mario.
 
Mario. He gets the girl. Isn't tall (wth?). Is the star. Nintendo guy!! :O
 
My opinion is that Luigi cooler and faster and Mario is stronger.
