Mature version of Pokemon

Good character development does not necessarily include people being emo. It includes characters reacting realistically and in their own unique way to given situations, as well as them growing as a person and a thinking individual. This does not really happen at all in the anime.

That's true, but you have to be careful what you wish for. It could end up going overboard with the "character development" to the point where they act like emo teens. Of course, it all depends on your preference, as critically acclaimed stories like Final Fantasy and Neon Genesis Evangelion just come off as whiner-fests to some.

It'd be even better if the characters actually aged. Ash in puberty would make things more interesting.

the characters are too nice
nurse joy would be bored silly of healing pokemon by now.......
none of the characters are in much of a relationship (okay fair enough)
shall i continue?

Thank you! And they were. You want depression? Go watch the end of Evangelion. And you'll be confused, to boot.

I don't want to take from SBaby's examples (Sonic AM and Avatar), but those are the kinds of shows where there is character progression, but not depression (or there's enough light to counter it). Progression is important, as people still are saying "why hasn't Ash won a League, yet?" Because, yes, it's very tiring to see him choke up and fail at every time. Headdesk.

As for everyone being so happy-go-lucky/honest, well, that's been more rampant in recent seasons. Which is why everyone loved Shinji and even Giovanni back in Kanto. Now, Giovanni will forever remind me of "you kids, get off my lawn!" Face it, in D/P, he comes across as a cranky, old man.

Shinji, I'm not sure, yet.

Someone asked if I meant Special, as in Pokemon Special. Yes, that's what I meant.

No. If they did, I would have serious nightmares of Kricketune killing Pikachu. :(

Pokemon getting more mature... I think its only in my dreams.
I would love to watch the anime with some more character development, a tad of drama and romance. & it would be nice if Ash grew a year or so. I mean, they could let Ash celebrate his birthday (if he has one. I mean, he could be an robot made by Prof. Oak to live forever and cause us viewers to go insane in wondering what age Ash is) without the show becoming more mature. I would love to Ash in his teen years.

yeah because mature = blood and violence.
if Pokemon would be to get more mature, I'd expect deeper storylines, deeper characters, romance and maybe some homosexual relationships. And maybe while we're at it, have Team Rocket get away with stealing some Pokemon
That is the type of mature I would like to see. It would make the show a bit more interesting.

well you know that there are pokemon episodes with evan worse stuff than that!

Oh yeah? Like what? Unless you mean that banned Dratini episode with the guns, I don't see what you mean.

I think that a mature Pokemon series would be very useful. A lot of older people would watch and enjoy it and all the bad points about Pokemon would be lost. This would only work, however it the company would somehow add maturity while not losing the charm of Pokemon.

The only bad points on the show are character development, the animation, and the the plot being repetitive. Making it "mature" fixes nothing here. So I ask; what are you talking about Sweet Speed?

I'd love to see them make an anime based on the Pokemon Adventure (Pokemon Special). It has a really nice story, its much closer to the games, and has more mature themes closer to the Teen range then the Kid range.

Well the game's story isn't good at all and is more repetitive than the show's. So you're basically asking for just that? Why?

Well thats true, they add alot to it such as the Mask of Ice.

:C Again...

Eh...>_> again with the PokeSpe plot bashing ne? No, we are not only asking for the game's plot. PokeSpe gives flesh and blood to the skeleton of the games. (I agree the games plot is too short, but they had to do that since the hardware's limited yet the games mechanics allow us to replay the games over and over while still discovering new things by choosing new teams, new tactics, etc. Seriously Pokemon is not a game you can just put away after "finishing" since you could start over again.) Yes, PokeSpe is close to the games but it has a wide range of well developed characters, deep plots, and surprising twists.

All were asking for is another anime based on Pokemon Special which can run alongside the Pokemon Anime. If they can do it with Chronicles, then rest assured they can do another anime. There is a lot of monetary incentive in getting more of the older former fans back in to Pocket Monsters.

Anime: much more "happy-go-lucky", the writers are free to write anything as long as it's within the "All Age" group. The problem is that With Johto and Hoenn (or 500+ episodes) the "stereotypical" hand-wash plots developed and people tuned out. At least, I should say DP/BD has been able to incrementally improve the Anime's plot, but old habits die hard, the "older" seasons are still tying it down. And the way PUSA is dubbing is just a continuation of 4Kids as Dogasu had said. The Dubbing process can be better IMO.

Anyways sorry if it is offending. But both variations of the Pokemon storyline have Positive points and Negative points so they are both equally great in balance.

The games are focused around the multiplayer and battling, the storyline's pretty much just thrown in there as a side thing to give a proper universe for all this to be set into and still make sense.

I don't bash it Netto, I just point out the plot and the fact that it's repetitive like the anime.:P

Lusankya knows what I'm saying right?
