Thought it was an interesting first episode.
Every time I see a bus with a giant cast I start thinking of Battle Royale or Tag/The Chasing World - "There's a big cast now, but only a few will remain -insert evil laugh here-" But it doesn't seem that anyone's going to die in this :/ that and there's no horror tag attached.

However, someone mentioned this somewhere and I found it interesting:

No Zappy. People will die. All the introductions portion was for me was figuring out who would when.

-well, now that you mention it...I don't know if they will die. Episode 1 was pretty much all setup for the characters, so what could come next is totally up in the air (as is my opinion for the show, by extension). But what with the concept, and the opening, I think it's just as likely that they'll get "spirited away", or just end up disappearing somehow.

But who knows, it's all speculation right now.

Either these guys are already dead or the "dead" ones are being spirited away (their bodies not being present at or after their times of death is probably significant, as is the inability to confirm their deaths).

Also, to episode 5...what the fuck?

My reaction at the end of the episode, too. XD; Now I know what that girl meant when she said she saw a "giant mitsumune" lol. And I can only imagine it being way more creepy than what we saw at the end of ep 5 lol.

Your speculation is interesting, though. What you speak of may very well be the reality =p
This show, despite lacking in quality, has my attention at least. I wanna know what the actual fuck is happening haha.

I've yet to see the most recent episode, but it's one of those trash shows that kept me hooked because I really want to see that ultimate Shyamalan twist. Are they all dead? Is it all a social experiment to help cure young depressed people? Did anyone actually die or is it all a prank bro?

lol same here. It is not doing anything that makes me appreciate the story or the characters but it is still surprisingly enjoyable and it always has me waiting for that unexpected twist that'd make it even more fun. XD;

That said, the latest episode was a definite improvement over the previous episodes. Mitsumune's past was handled pretty well and his motivation to start over with a new life feels more genuine than other characters.

With the episodes I'd watched, I have to say, the overall idea and plot is very interesting but the characters ruin it for me. They're all either too average or just too annoying. Especially the "Execute" girl, Lovepon, I would appreciate if my headphones aren't screaming "Execute" in Japanese every 5 seconds

Yeeeah, funny thing. As it goes further in, I really have to wonder why they bothered making a show centered around 30 characters. I mean, it was a given that most of them would be background or supporting, but...they really don't add anything to the experience. At all.

This show probably would've been better if they had less than half that number, because then they wouldn't be able to focus on them for filler, and they'd have more time to develop the characters they already have without spreading themselves thin.

To be honest, when all is said and done, it didn't really matter. Because Mayoiga is stupid. It fails to keep up with its own rules and changes things whenever convenient. Don't get me wrong, it was still an entertaining watch. But lesser number of cast with us getting more insight into their past wouldn't have accounted for much if everything ultimately lead to the finale we got from the show.

The "big boss" wanted Mitsumune's friend's Nanaki to grow bigger and wreck havoc so they could get some more insight on Nanaki and help find some other Nanaki? How? I mean, insight bit I can still somehow understand. But find some other, unrelated Nanaki? Plus, when all was said and done, "big boss" stayed behind and another character who was definitely charmed with our big boss earlier but was visibly disturbed when they saw "big boss"s true colors, they just...forgave "big boss" towards the end because why not. Series just ended nonchallantly with the goddamn hippopotamus song. If this is their idea of a good book ending, they're not really nailing it. XD; And I haven't even brought up how Nanaki were only visible to the person who they were a part of and not others. At all. But somewhere in the middle, that rule just vanished. Magically.

We don't get any insight on why this Nanaki phenomenon happens. We don't get a deeper look at the characters themselves because huge cast. We don't get to see a lot of stuff.

In the end, I feel that the series possessing this huge a cast was ok. Because for the kind of story this series was going for, all that was needed was a group of lunatic one dimensional characters who did crazy things for the sake of it. And it had that.

5/10 overall since the ending was very underwhelming. I thought it'd do something even more crazy or stupid (that would sit better in line with the rest of the series...) but it went with a relatively calm and "normal" ending.
