Mega evolution in Sun/Moon anime?

It's confirmed that someone is able to achieve mega evolution with a Z ring instead of mega ring, keystone etc. Do you think that we're going to see mega evolution this season? Also considering that Ash will have a Z ring, do you think Ash is going to achieve mega evolution?

I doubt it just because there are most likely no new Mega's this gen.

Michelaar has a strong point. While Mega Evolution has been popular in the anime, I feel it's not going to be seen as much in this saga since Z-Moves are the new mechanic that needs promoting (and Ash will be promoting Z-Moves as shown in one of the trailers) plus we're not getting any new Mega Evolutions in this generation either.

It probably won't be the focus but after XYZ's ending, it would be pretty nice. Especially since Ash has several mega options at Oak's. So I don't know if it will actually happen.

I doubt it will be a focus - they'd want to showcase Z-Moves and Alola forms a lot more since those are two of the key new features of Sun & Moon. Mega Evolution might happen towards the end of the season maybe as an off-hand thing, but then again I feel they would want to keep the focus on Z-Moves and Alola forms even at the end.

Yup this season will be focused on Z-moves.

Unless the school arc is going to end and they're going on a standard adventure... Mega's are going to be a rarity (We'll probably get just get a passing remark tho)
