Member Groups...

This was discussed earlier here back in 2005.
Everyone seemed to agree Member Groups would be a great addition to share interests and such.

So why not enable Member Groups?
I'm not sure how this feature works, but it sure sounds interesting.. Thoughts?

We did use it for a while in '06 or so I believe, but in the end I think we turned them off. Can't remember why though.

I'm searching, but can't find the reason why they were turned off.
Group Submissions were here but it was closed without any explanation. hmm.

No one really used them to their full potential - there were maybe three or four active group threads in the Group Memberships forum, and the rest of them pretty much died. So we just merged them all into Other Clubs.

When we closed the member groups forum there were only 2 active threads in that forum. The idea was good at first, and got a few good threads/groups going there. But in the end it died and the forum was only there for just 2 threads so we put all the threads in their respective group forums and got rid of the member group forum.


And just incase someone asks this question... no I don't think it'll be coming back anytime soon (not with how inactive it got), just about everything in that forum can be done in Other Clubs.

I think it's just best to keep clubs the way they are. They can display the clubs they're apart of in their sig, or post about it or something. Just having the whole group thing back would be kind of pointless (but that's just me).
