It's the greatest game I've ever played.
And it's never coming out for 360. Seriously, when you see the unrivaled visuals alone, you'll understand *why* it can never happen. Kojima chose the Playstation 3, and developed to it's strengths. It's probably the greatest looking game that'll ever be released for this generation, period.

    Greatest looking game...?
IMO Crysis looks better than MGS4.

However graphics aside, the game is awesome. Finished playing it on my friends PS3 (as in, going to his dorm room everyday to play).
Sadly I found MGS4 to have much less comedic radio transmissions, but I guess it goes against the tone of the game.

Did you try and use controller 2 to fight Screaming Mantis? XD Comedy gold!

    This game rocks!
Unfortunately it'll never come out for the 360 T_T but nonetheless it's still awesome.
The Beauty and Beast Corp were amazing not to mention they finally explain EVERYTHING! Now it all makes sense LOL
And finally Vamp gets killed! Hated that guy...

    How is it unfortunate? XD

The game is worth the price of the PS3 IMO (just like FFX or KH was worth the price of a PS2 when it came out, and SSBB was worth the price of a Wii). I picked up a PS3 for MGS4 (and the games the PS3 will have down the road) and I think it was well worth it. I got the MGS4 PS3 bundle so if you want the normal copy get that bundle if you can (I picked up the Limited Edition copy, so I'm going to sell the copy that was in the box).

The graphics are awesome. And I almost cried when I first hooked up the PS3 and put in MGS4... I have that thing running on a 37" HD LCD TV running in on HDMI... so awesome.

Personally, I think it was a great end to a great series. If you've played and beat all 3 MGS games before that one (and maybe Portable Ops) then this game will be the one that ties everything together and answers everything about the past games. There are some flashback moments that'll just send chills down your back, and other moments that is just so funny (lots of them are throw backs to the older games). I loved MGS4, I really really did. I plan on starting my second play through soon, but maybe after I beat a few other games first.

    Because a friend of mine is the one who has the PS3 ;-;
Haha, all kidding aside I had always wanted the PS3 as well (currently have the 360 Elite) but after watching this game I want it just for MGS4.
Yeah, the flashbacks that Arcanine mentioned were a really nice touch.

The story scenes vary. There are multiple locations the game takes place in, and before each one there's a segue/briefing that is anywhere from 20-45 minutes long. During which you can switch control to the Mk.II and drive around the Nomad picking up items which a PiP shows you the briefing taking place. During each locale, of course story plays out and though there's a much smaller focus on codec convos, still expect to sit back every now and then and just be wowed by another amazing revelation that might take 20 minutes or more to play out.
The finale, the ending, form start to finish is a good sixty minutes by my approximation; about 75 if you wait until the very end of the credits for the final reveal.
Trust me, you'll play each gameplay segment looking forward to the next amazing piece of story to be fed to you~

As for completion time, my first play through clocked at 18 hours on Big Boss Hard difficulty, and my second on The Boss Extreme difficulty took 8 hours with all scenes skipped. Still gotta cut it down to under five (GAH) for the final Emblem @_@

Not to mention playing the original NES and MSX Metal Gear games is also recommended. They actually reference Zanzibar Land from Metal Gear 2 for the MSX. I was just stunned that they even mentioned that.

Of course people that are playing this one without playing the previous ones, you'll be totally lost. I'm not beating around the bush on that one.

Of course Outer Heaven and Zanzibarland were referenced, they're canon to the series. Though, really, I haven't played MGS1 since I first got TTS and I haven't played MGS2 in about three years, and MGS3 a year or so ago and I was completely fine.
There's also the free download from PSN; The Metal Gear Database that can fill you in nicely.

Well in the first MGS game they talked about Big Boss, Zanzibar Land, and other events from MG and MG2. So I wasn't surprised.

Now, I just wish I was able to play them games. The Essentials Collection didn't have the second disc of MGS2 or MGS3 and I think MGS3 was the one that had the first Metal Gear games on them.

MSG3: Subsistence does have the first 2 Metal Gear games that came out for the MSX system in Japan. Before then, I've always wanted to play the official Metal Gear sequel, not that poor excuse of a game, "Snake's Revenge".

Honestly, after hearing how good the game is, I really want to go get a PS3 with MSG4.

"Non Lethal" implies a Stamina/Psyche drain kill, as opposed to a health-based kill. To do this, you need to use
    a) stun grenades
    b) the mk22
    c) the mosin nagant.
I recommend C, because it does overall the best tranq damage per shot, even taking into account its longer reload time being a bolt action.
Now, there's two levels of bonus for the tranq-kill; the first is if you do just their Beauty form. That is, kill the Beast form with normal means, and then tranq-kill the Beauty form; that will get you face-camo of each of the beauties. To get the Solar Gun, you need to do tranq-kills on the Beast form as well, and collect the statue that appears in the area afterwards. Do this during the Four B&B fights, and there's also a fifth statue available during the FROG Ambush (From memory; I did it on my first run through so I'm not 100% sure where the FROG Statue is). Get all five, and you get the Solar Gun on your next play-through~

Yup, it sure is. I recommend saving for it as soon as you can; because it's freaking awesome; it even has a cool little reference to The End from MGS3 in it's description.Get it as early as possible! And yes, Solar Gun requires all statues~

Yes, you need to only kill the FROG/Haven soldiers during the assault with tranq-kills; being VERY careful to keep in mind that if you tranq one hanging from a wall and it falls and dies? You've just clocked a kill and now you'll have to start over. The Statue/Doll will be in the garage~
