Mew Newsletter only for North America?

I live in the UK. I recently signed up for the newsletter to receive Mew. The June newsletter arrived in my inbox but there was no Mew code. I asked the support team at Pokemon company what had gone wrong and I got a reply saying the Mew in the newsletter was only for the North American region. A friend of mine (also in the UK) received the newsletter and the Mew so I'm doubting the response I got from the company is true. Can anyone confirm this for me? Has anyone else had this problem?

I recently signed up for the newsletter to receive Mew.

How recently did you sign up for the newsletter? To get the code, you had to have been signed up for the newsletter by June 1st. Any later, and you would have been considered "too new" to get the code.

That said, I've read that there's a common code for EU/AUS/NZ players to use to get their Mew. Use the code "MEW2016".
