    Just a little fun speculation to help brighten the mood. The threads in here got me a little down, so here's something light.

    How do you think Mewtwo will eventually be obtained? Do you think it's going to be a massive event like we saw in the original GO trailer, or do you think we'll ever be able to obtain the 150th Pokémon?

    What do you think his stats will be like, and how will that affect the meta game?
     
    His stats have already been revealed, mewtwo has the higher base CP, I'm quite sure at least for a long time meetwo will be event only although I expect eventually you may be able to get it by other means
     
    I'm expecting that Mewtwo will be released as part of a big event and that he'll probably be given to every player honestly. I can imagine there being utter chaos if Niantic held public events for Mewtwo as there would just be far too many people there for anyone's connection to hold up etc and it'd be unfeasible, whereas more specialised distribution events would probably be reserved for something more 'rare' such as Mew. I'm mostly expecting a Mystery Gift style of distribution for Mewtwo but we'll see!

    As for how he'll change the meta, I'm not sure I want to see that... I find it hard to see anything other than Mewtwo being the meta for a long time! It'd only really depend on how easily you can get candy for him and if you can keep him up at a relevant level.
     
    As Phoenix said, the stats have been discovered and they're pretty good.

    I still think there will be a large event as hinted at in the trailer. It will likely be a really cool concept and piss some people off when it isn't easy for absolutely everyone.

    I hope it is a massive event cause that'll be super cool, maybe having it in several major cities in each country. The only problem is it would surely cause connection issues and it would mean loads of people wouldn't be able to get it but I guess thats the point xD
     
    I think it should just be something that (infrequently) randomly appears anywhere, regardless of whether you're in a city or rural area, regardless of whether you're near a hotspot.

    Although I suppose they could also limit its appearances based on, for instance, how many times you've fought or trained at a gym to simulate how the games work where you had to wait until after facing the Elite Four and so on.

    That could be a different way to do things now that I think of it. There could be newly added Pokemon League spots at various places on the map that would act like fairly strong gyms and by beating them you open up the possibility to get Mewtwo. Or get a Mewtwo egg? Or something.

    Honestly I really like this idea. If you beat some very strong trainers (probably stock teams and AI controlled to battle properly) at these Pokémon League spots you get an encounter with Mewtwo with something like a 2% catch rate and a 95% flee rate and you can only do it once per day so you can't just sit there spamming it? And then there could be events to distribute master balls or something in order to give a certainty of capturing a Mewtwo... Not sure but I'd much prefer it to an event-style distribution haha.
     
    I expect it'll be released as some kind of big event, but probably in such a way that everyone playing at the time of event can get it, and thereafter have periodic events for new players. There'd be such outrage if they only released it to some people that I can't imagine they'd want to do it.
