Microsoft enforcing mandatory anti-virus requirements for future update support

While I agree it's a must to have an antivirus program on a Windows install, I don't necessarily agree with halting patches from users with either no antivirus software or an "incompatible" antivirus. Theoretically, if your browsing habits are safe enough, you would not need an antivirus at all, yet may still download patches just to be on the safe side of security when it comes to a Windows environment.

It's MS' job to keep the system free from bugs. If that means certain loopholes need to get patched, then that's what happens. Anyone who abuses these types of bugs to make their software work needs to be wary of that and act accordingly when something changes.
