Middle Evo Love?

    Sure, the prevos are cute, and the final evos are great at battle, but what about the ones with middle evo syndrome? Don't they get some love too? Personally, a lot of my favorite Pokemon are middle evos, such as Wartortle, Nidorina, and Quilava. I like all three of those more than their final evolution, and it's even hard for me to evolve them sometimes, especially Wartortle. I'm not a big Blastoise fan. So, basically this is a discussion of favorite middle evolutions and middle evo recognition, I guess.

    Oh. Togetic, Pidgeotto, and Flaaffy too. They rock. I was actually gonna go through Gold without evolving my Flaaffy before.
     
    Haunter >>> Gengar in terms of aesthetics, but comes up short in power. :'(

    also, Magneton, Rhydon, Electabuzz, Magmar, and Dusclops are all supremely better than their abominible GenIV evolutions whom shall remain nameless
     
    Oh gosh...how I love an Ivysaur~ Much cuter than both of it's evolutions combined!
    And they can last a decent amount of time in battle if trained well.
    I also love Wartortle and Quilava. Nidorina is good too.

    Most definitely! I have a Haunter with no means of getting Gengar in my Red version right now, and I could care less. :D

    Agreed. Those Pokemon were once in their own spotlight til...those guys came along. And even worse for Electabuzz and Magmar, they have prevos that stole some glory right in the next generation. They only got to live it up for one generation.

    I favor most middle evos on starters, sans generation IV. -shivers-

    To be fair though, Magby and Elekid are actually *cute* and didn't take away from the amount of usage Magmar and Electabuzz got in the competitive scene...

    ...in fact, I don't think any of the pokemon I named needed an evolution...they were all holding their own rather well in the competitive scene without making them stronger. >_>
     
    Haunter, Grovyle, Grotle, Quilava, Ivysaur, Wartortle, Bayleef, Combusken, Spearow*, Loudred, Flaaffy, Gabite, Seadra, Jigglypuff, Lairon, Luxio, Lombre, Monferno, Nidorino, Nidorina, Pidgeotto, Rhydon, Sealeo, Vigoroth, & Staravia.

    So, as you can see, there are a lot that I like.    ​

     
    Grovyle, Monferno, Quilava, Bayleef, Wartortle, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Croconaw, Grotle, Kirlia, Dragonair, Nidorina, Rhydon (I actually don't like Rhydon, but hey, better than Rhyperior >.>), Electabuzz (once again, like Rhydon...), Magmar (AGAIN...), Porygon2, Roselia...

    All I can think of atm.

    Yeah. That booger will always be the middle evo I'll never love.

    I just don't get why Game Freak, in most cases, chooses to make the final stage of a Pokémon look so fat.

    Their are a lot of middle evos that I like better then their basic or final family members. Such as...

    Dragonair, Flaaffy, Machoke, Monferno, Pidgeotto, Ivysaur, Quilava, Bayleef, and Rhydon.

    Those are just a few of the ones I like.

    I was actually thinking about this earlier a little, 'cause I was drawing an ivysaur and was like "Ivysaur is cool, but no one really pays attention to him, it's always bulbasaur or venusaur"

    Some I like are ivysaur, nidorino/nidorina.
    But are just simply not as cool(imo) as the one before it or after it, like haunter, weepinbell, croconaw.

    But it's why I wish the games didn't force you to evolve your pokemon in order to have it the strongest.

    My favorite middle evolution has to be Vigoroth only because it is completly different than it pre evolution and evolution but just so every knows i love Slaking and slakoth
     
    The great thing about Porygon2 (and what also sets it apart from all those other mid-evos, accept for maybe Magneton, Vigoroth, and Pikachu) is that it can actually destroy those big bad pokes (such as Gyarados, Heatran, and Salamence) in competitive battling without having to evolve ever!


     
    Ach. I forgot about Dragonair. I defnitely prefer that over Dragonite. It's so pretty and then you get a yellow Barney for an evolution. Makes no sense. And I wish Blastoise had fluffy ears like Wartortle. Maybe I'd like him more!
     
    I like Quilava, Bayleef, Wartortle, Charmeleon, Prinplup, Monferno, Pidgeotto, and Vigoroth. I like Quilava way more than Typhlosion. Same with Prinplup and Monferno.
     
    I like Flaafy a lot better than Ampharos. Although they're both great Pokemon.
