Might as well get a basic template up.

Isn't there a plugin or two that allows moderators to define protected/reserved areas, in which only nominated people can build? This would be an anti-griefing thing, with reserved areas set up on request by a mod to protect new builds.

Will there be a protected spawn? It might be nice to have a little central area where you appear at, and then fly off to find somewhere to build. A pre-made construction here would both be nice and allow the rules to be plastered around.

Are there any restrictions on what can be built, or the sizes/locations of builds? For example, having a Pokémon theme or allowing/disallowing pixel art. I'd say there should be no limits.

The world should be made available to download at the end of the event.

There will be a central safe zone where the spawn point of the world will be set. Building in this area will not be permitted and within it will contain a set of rules.

There a no limits to what one can build, other than that the construction of obscene structures is not allowed.

And yes that's World Guard. Moderators and higher are able to define regions and add permissions to them. We already have it installed on the server.

As for making it dowloadable, I think that's an excellent idea and don't see why that can't happen!

Has there been any progress in getting this set up? Or, you know, making a list of the people who are helping out with moderating (and letting them know)?

I think it would be a very good idea to have a practice run with the server, for helpers only, to let them get the hang of any modding commands they'll need to know and use. The time can also be used to build a spawn area with rules and such forth, so the event can start off properly.

IMO, anti-griefing is weak. Half of Minecraft is destroying what you build. If people don't want their stuff wrecked, they gotta build intelligently. But I guess not all can do that, so such a safe-guard is better left.

As for the world guard plugin, is it just moderators? or does it have the protect stone function for regular members when they place a glowstone or something?

I've been really busy trying to set up three events and unfortunately this one's been neglected a little. Anyway, I still haven't received a reply from Jake about who'll be given permissions and not.

In regards to World Guard, moderators and staff will probably be in charge of it. However, I'm considering just letting the flatland word be completely free build. As in, there'll be no permissions, just a flat land world with creative mode. Now if you think of it, there'd literally be thousands of blocks of free space, so everyone would have enough space to build.

Greifing is unfortunate however, when participants join in the they accept that their structures may be griefed. I think it'd be impossible for us to have staff online 24/7 to define regions, set regions, remove regions etc. Because what would happen if we had members who logged in and wanted to build, but couldn't because everything was restricted and no staff member was on? We'd lose a participant.

Plus, we can easily find out who has griefed structures with a plugin we have.

I've made the world and its spawn point, I've also added a rules board. All I have left to do is actually set up the commands to reach the world as well as fix a few flaws that I've picked up on.

I'll get a start on the thread soon.

    › Are there rules?
    ————————————————————
There are indeed. We want to make this event as fun and as enjoyable as possible, and so by following these simple guidelines you're helping us achieve this!

    Please don't:

    Destroy others' works
Respect other people's property - don't touch anything belonging to others unless they've allowed you to.

    Impersonate admins/mods
Don't claim to be an admin. Don't act like one either - the only ones policing the rules should be the admins or mods.

    Advertise other servers or sites
Don't advertise. You may let people who know you know where you're going or link people to a funny video, but don't link just to get broad hits or activity.

    Build obscene structures
Needless to say, we don't need to see anything inappropriate. Be age-smart!

    Ask for admin favours
We won't do anything for you unless we're supposed to.

    Abuse or disrespect others
    Treat everyone right.

    Spam the chat
Lines of garbage will result in a swift kick.

If you have any problems please let us know, we'd be happy to help you out!

I really think there should be a "Don't" before each of those...

That "don't cheat" rule doesn't really apply to creative.

Also, "blast of a time doesn't sound right. Just "blast" will do.
