"I want to be in...... Oh I dunno." Saphira said hopelessly. "I have no idea what I`m like."

Crystal wondered what house she would end up in. She certainly wasn't brave, because she had trouble even talking to someone.

Saphira watched Crystal, who was deep in thought. "So, what do you want to be in?" She asked, glad to have started a sucssesful conversation.

The conversatin had died again. Typical for when I butted in. I said "excuse me" quietly and left the rest of them alon. when I was safely away from them, I tried contemplating my own nature, but found myself too nervous.

Crystal thought about how a student's characteristics would be judged. 'Probably a written test or something,' she thought. She then answered Saphira, "I don't really care,so long as I'm not with those bullies," she said, gesturing to the Slytherins, who had pushed their way through the other students to get to the front of the crowd.

"I can say right now, I would die or leave Hogwarts if I was put into Slytherin, that's for sure." Ryan gagged at the thought.

I turned to David and said "What house are you planning on? I'm hoping for ravenclaw myself." I explained, though I wondered about exactly what it was that really made people more fit for one house than the other...

"It's not a written test." Ryan told Crystal after her idea of the test to place you into one of the four houses. "You put on a hat and it tells you. I know it sounds weird, but that is what my parents told me."

"Yeah, I`d rather die than go to Slytherin." She added. "Their all so....." Her voice trailed off, not being able to find the right words to describe them.

The big doors opened slowly, revealing a tall, thin, stern-looking witch in emerald green robes. The light coming from inside the castle hurt my somewhat sensitive eyes, almost blinding me. she clapped her hand sharply and trilled in a Scottish accent "This way, please." Without waiting, she turned and walked off. I hopped to my feet and hurried after her, into the castle and up a flight of stairs.

The idea of talking with an inanimate object was odd to Crystal, but she suddenly remembered Winona and Pawsie, and it didn't seem very odd anymore. She held up her wizard card and saw that the witch and the Niffler were back. When Winona saw Crystal looking at her, surprised that she had come back, she explained,"That other wizard card had a puffskein on it,and Pawsie chases puffskeins,so the card turned into mayhem and we just came back."

Saphira noticed they were still on the docks, and that the doors were opening. "C`mone, we gotta go!" She exclaimed, running torwards the opening doors.

Ryan hurried after the witch, Xander his great horned owl still perched ontop of his head. "I wonder if this is the time we go to the feast, Xander."

Saphira faced the boy that had joined hers and Crystals conversation. "I never got your name." She said, still running.

The sudden light temporarily blinded Crystal after the dark of the night. The doors were an even more gloroius sight than she had imagined. She ran quickly towards the bustling crowd.

"Jake" I answered blandly as we came to a room that seemes to be just off the Great Hall. I could hear the buzz of the rest of the school through the far wall. The wiutch went into a typical speech welcoming them to the school. It was all stuff I knew and had the air of being quite well-worn. I started to zone out.

Crystal heard the stern-looking witch talking about the houses they had just been discussing. She wondered whether her friends would be in the same house as her.

"My name is Ryan, and he is Xander." Ryan said to Saphira as he pointed to Xander perched ontop of his head. Xander gave out a loud hoot.

Crystal watched Xander in fascination. 'Can owls talk to me,too?' she thought to herself, and was surprised when she heard an answering thought say,'Of course. Cats aren't the only animals that can communicate, you know.'
