Misanthropy is generalized dislike, distrust, disgust, contempt or hatred of the human species or human nature. A misanthrope, or misanthropist is someone who holds such views or feelings. - Wikipedia

Are you a misanthrope? What from the "dislike, distrust, etc." about you makes you a misanthrope? State your general opinion on misanthropy or something else so your post isn't completely pointless.

idk i just want to know if you're one or not.

I have a general annoyance or dislike of nearly everyone, but not a hatred. I always go by the saying of trust no one just because I've been screwed over a lot in the past and I just don't want to deal with it. I have less than a handful of people I truly trust, but even then there's a lot I don't say just because.

I would probably say I hate human nature more than I hate the human species. I've come to know a fair amount of people I enjoy and a small amount I really enjoy so that cancels out hating the whole species. On the other hand I just hate "typical human nature" because it's so predictable and you can see it in nearly everyone if you get people in a group. Not saying I'm innocent of it because I'm probably not, but it's just so frustrating to see sometimes and really annoying when most people won't acknowledge it.

I'm definitely not a misanthrope. I tend to think that, left to their own devices, humans want to be good at the most basic level. There are some things that are divisive and relative, but I think even one human living alone their entire life would build up their own personal moral code of right and wrong and try to live on the right side of it. I really do believe that people doing wrong is strongly effected by the way a child was raised, its environment, its social status, how it socialized, etc. While a person may grow to become a criminal, I believe that no child is born with the tendency to do evil, it's 'nurtured' into them by societal influences.

This makes it really hard for me to generally relate to misanthropes, honestly. I had a friend who insisted she was a misanthrope, but she also was an anarchist and believed that with no laws people would be able to function just fine. I tried to explain that if that was true then people are basically good, not just good because they'll get in trouble if they're bad, but she would disagree with me with no real reasoning, haha. That's the only person I've ever known that self-labeled as a misanthrope, and I believe she had more faith in people than anyone I've ever known.

I'm most definitely not a misanthrope. I have a few of them in my life though, and I really don't understand how they can live with that much cynicism and bitterness inside of them. My thought is that if I ever become that way, it's time to start going to therapy to iron out my issues because I would never want to live like that.

as hard as i try to, i've never been able to understand misanthropes. i mean, it's not like i love everyone in the world or anything, but i definitely do not hate our entire species/nature. i do see where the hate is coming from, as we humans have damaged our world and the lives of our fellow humans, but we've done almost the same amount of good. so no, i'm definitely not a misanthrope.

My short answer is: no, I'm not.

Long answer: there are lots of things about people I don't like and don't trust. It's within every person to let their base, nasty sides take control, but I can't help but see the good side to humanity and the capacity for empathy, love, and all that good stuff. I mean, I'll despair at the human race sometimes when something bad happens, but in general when I'm in my right mind I can usually see how someone might act in an inhuman way and that leads me to thinking about how they might change for the better.

I wouldn't go as far as calling myself a misanthrope.
I do dislike many people, and I do get easily annoyed by the ignorance that I believe most of humanity holds.
Though this could just be because of the area I've grew up in.
I'm sure other places are much better than this small ignorant country town.
So I'm trying to keep my mind open to that at least.

I have nothing against people like that though, because I believe I can see through their eyes, maybe just a little bit.

Calling myself a misanthrope would probably be going far, but not by very much. I usually have generally negative views of humanity. We do a lot of awful things at times. I wouldn't say I'd outright hate it, though. There's still good things to be had; as long as there is, I can't outright hate humanity. I'm more disappointed than anything else. *shrugs*

I jokingly call myself a misanthrope, but I'd say it's more of a jovial bitterness towards roughly everyone and everything else.

I don't exactly bear anyone ill will, and I try to assume a positive side, but I still think it's best to keep others at a distance until they convince me to let my guard down.

humanity has a lot of horrible aspects, but there is just as much beauty. Unfortunately that doesn't get really focused on nearly as often as the terrible stuff.
I'm not a misanthrope, I'm a pessimist, so I can't help but feel bad about everything, including humanity; but I don't hate humanity.
