The first generation started with only a basic set of moves (164). This set expanded during Gen II and III to 353 moves, more than twice as many. Yet still new moves keep being added. In Gen VI the number of moves counts 620, almost the double of the moves in Gen III.
Which necessary moves do you think the third generation lacks?
For me the third gen really lacks decent Bug-type moves. Bug Pokémon mostly aren't very strong Pokémon, but Pokémon like Scyther can't even learn any Bug moves. Secondly I miss the move Iron Head. Iron Tail is a nice move, but I prefer moves with high accuracy during a playthrough.
