What would she do, though? You can't have a character come back just for the sake of coming back. Tell me, what else is there for Misty to do? And do NOT say "confess her love to Ash", because that is fan-invented and you know it.
Let's not get into the shipping stuff. That's a whole other story.
There are many possibilities what Misty can do. She can participate in a water Pokemon league (like the Whirl Island Cup in mid Johto only much bigger) or she can get involved in a problem with chasing down water Pokemon thieves. The possibities are endless.

Okay, but how does that tie into the main focus of the show - to get Ash all of his badges so he can participate in the Final Conferences, and for May to get all of her ribbons so she can participate in the Final Festival? Unless Misty contributes to those plots, any side story like that would be fillerish and unneeded - much like the Whirl Islands saga was in Season 5.

Has anyone here ever heard "Misty's Song"/"He drives Me Crazy from the Pokemon Soundtrack?! She like so admits she loves him. There is no May's Song where May admits she loves Ash. Misty should get him and May can have Drew. I don't want May to leave the show, she rocks. She just needs to stop unconisuosly flirting with Ash!

Hate to burst your bubble, but that was an American creation. Meaning it's not valid.

If you want to get all literal though, it means "Ash and Misty" have a chance, not "Satoshi and Kasumi".

There ain't a Kasumi's/Haruka's Song either. OMFG.
Misty should get him and May can have Drew.
Typical shipper...

What are you talking about? Flirting with Ash? When's this happened?

Get over yourself.

Just thought that I'd point out that when people say Ash and Misty that more than likely means that they watch the dubbed version and that's where we get our hints and such from not the Japanese version. It is possible that WB could change the end of the Anime(if they have one) to fit the changes they've made to the anime. It only makes sense for them to follow through with what they started^^

this is kind of up to the person, people see things differently so it's understanable that one person would see something as flirting and another person wouldn't.

IT'S CALLED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, GENIUS. May hated Pok?mon at first so Ash could teach her how many good things there are about them.

And I don't know if you've been READING anything I've said in this thread, but if writing Misty out of the show was such a bad move, then naturally, by your "logic", leaving her in the group would have been a bright move - which asks the question: if Misty was still on the show, WHAT THE HELL WOULD SHE BE DOING?

And for the record, "follow through" IS correct.

(I swear to God, there are times when this board makes me wanna shoot myself in the head.)

...I hope a Mod closes this.All-Most of you have go too far and now your Charatar Bash and Member Bashing! Please stop. ;-;

Well yeah, but I still say the original is always the final say. Because, well, it's the original.

It's like watching the dub Yu Gi Oh! and them talking about the Shadow Realm 24/7. Sure it's not mentioned all the time in the dub, but it doesn't change the fact it's not in the original much. From what I've read about the differences (but only on season one) and complaining fans...
It is possible that WB could change the end of the Anime(if they have one) to fit the changes they've made to the anime.
But how are they going to do that?

Let's say Ash is in some tournament, and he won. The ending is his friends running around him with the cup in his hands and Kasumi saying "Congratulations Satoshi!"

So is 4kids going to jack up the ending by having an oddly done Ash say "Misty... LET'S GO OUT!"? I don't think they'll change the ending THAT much, especially if it's never mentioned at all.

Then again, take look at Yu Gi Oh... -_-
It only makes sense for them to follow through with what they started^^
Not necessarily. Writers could be bored, or ratings could change, etc.

... Or... It could be possibe there wasn't anything to begin with! OMG.

We're probably going to get a crap ending anyway. Some shows build up on stuff but don't end with anything.

I don't see where May flirts with Ash at all. Maybe I'm blind. And this is coming from an Advanceshipper.

... WHAT? I CAN'T UNDERSTAND.

Uh, could we keep the capitalization to a minimum? (maybe just a word at a time?) It sounds like you're yelling crazily at the person, and quite frankly, I find that insulting. We REALLY don't need to yell, alright?

Personally, I like to call the characters by the American names rather than the Japanese names since I know relatively nothing about the Japanese episodes. Also, I also believe that the characters in their corresponding countries have different attitudes, so I believe that Ash and Satoshi are two different characters, and that goes out for everyone else.

For the last time, Misty was written off the show because HER CHARACTER WAS TAPPED OUT. The writers don't want to write for her anymore because there's NOTHING LEFT FOR HER TO DO.
I'd have to dissagree with you, yeller. If you haven't noticed, none of the main characters have been described as much as people would have liked. We know nothing about their past, therefore, a plot could easily be developed based on that if the producers wish to do so. Also, we really haven't focused on Misty's/Kasumi's main goal (or at least one of them...) and that is to become a Master Water Pok?mon Trainer. She wants to know everything there is to them. Who knows? She could become a Pok?mon researcher like Gary! (although chances are zero to none, I believe)

There are all kinds of Water Pok?mon in the Hoenn region, and probably many more in future regions. (Water-types take up the biggest chunk of known Pok?mon thus far) This way, should the producers have Misty or Kasumi have a plot, then it can intertwine with Ash's quest to become a Pok?mon Master/Champion. Misty's character development, however, is a toughie to figure out. Who knows? Maybe she'll change... (although I don't want to see that happen. I like her the way she was!)

I wouldn't say that. As I keep saying, the producers back in Japan do keep tabs on all of the versions out there as well as their plots they created that the Japanese didn't bother to do. Therefore, they could (emphasis on "could") finish what the other versions stated.

That's quite hard for me to do when there are numerous people in this thread that are outright denying the facts of the Japanese version of the show - which is the right version, mind you, not the one with all the clueless mistakes - and making stuff up off the top of their heads.

For God's sake, people, there's more to "Pok?mon" than Ash's love life. This is why I detest all forms of Shipping - none of it is grounded in the truth. The truth is, Ash doesn't care about romance yet. The truth is, Misty no longer serves a purpose as a member of Ash's entourage. The truth is, May is actually a very good character whose introduction brought a whole new angle to the show and brought it out of the cesspool known as the Johto era. And yet, Kasumi-crazed fanboys and fangirls keep on ranting "OMG may is teh suxorz i want misty!!!11" when they don't stop to think about what that would do to the show. If May is gone, not only does she take Max with her (whose character is still being developed, mind you), but she takes the contests and her persona as the new Ash-type who still needs to learn the ropes. She takes away the freshness that the Hoenn region has. And she's replaced with a character that successfully did absolutely nothing of importance for three straight years, and will continue to do so. She will not confess her love to Ash because that's not the route the Japanese producers want to take. 4Kids can crush them all they want with their Iron Fist of Westernization, but one thing they can't do is write the episodes themselves.

Look, I don't even know why we have this stupid debate in the first place - Misty was a good character when used right, and May is a good character when used right. Misty ran her course, and now May's filled the position of female lead while also providing the show with its rookie character. Just because May didn't like Pok?mon at first is no reason for her to be replaced with Misty.

Jesse and Pokedude, stop the bashing or this thread will be closed and you will both receive warnings.

Fine. I'm done talking about this anyway.

I think this is going to be my last post in here, because this isn't getting anywhere.

I was acting like a deaf person.

They could do the same thing with Tracy. But what are the chances of that?

I still think Misty staying at the gym is doing more than her traveling around doing nothing and competing in one tournament. If she keeps it up, she could get recognized by an official... or something.

But there can't be too much going on at one time. We're going to have three league type things going on at once?

Not to mention if Misty DOES get some type of tournament, it's going to be a rip off of Ash's/May's. We all know she's gonna have to collect some type of medal/medallion or something. That's what I think anyway.
I wouldn't say that. As I keep saying, the producers back in Japan do keep tabs on all of the versions out there as well as their plots they created that the Japanese didn't bother to do. Therefore, they could (emphasis on "could") finish what the other versions stated.
Remember what happened the last time Japan listened to 4kids and their suggestions about Brock?

And regardless of the other countries, Japan is still the main focus here. If they were focusing on America, I doubt they would have gotten rid of Misty period. And Pokeshipping probably would have happened a looooooooong time ago.

... And that's all I'm saying. I'm leaving for a while.

Hey, I didn't say focus, all right? It's Japan's show, and I know they can do whatever they like.

Well, there's no 'right' version. That's why other countries make up these things! Because the countries developed the characters themselves (of course, influenced by the Japanese counterparts) and some plots as well, they feel like it's needed. Besides, this is a thread about which girl you like, not some Roman arena arguing to the death why either girl should stay or go. Let the guys share their opinions!

And what about May? I'm pretty sure it's a slight rip-off of Ash's quest. Unless they can get another system down in the series, it's gonna stay that way. (forget card collecting!)

I have to agree on this one. She did absolutely nothing on her travels. (well, except learning a little more about Water Pok?mon and using the exact same strategy Ash's using, therefore dominating anybody challenging the Cerulean City's Gym...)

If you two should come back and read this post, don't hesitate to give me all the hate you have for me! I'm lonely!

Misty or May? I would have to say May.

Does the name "Kyogre" mean anything to you? How about "Team Aqua"? She IS a water pokemon trainer, and Kyogre is a water-type, so she could come back trying to investigate and stop/help (either way) Team Aqua's attempts to revive Kyogre. That can work for a long time, especially if it's done like they did with Gary, popping up every once in a while...So, Jesse, how about clamming up and listening to others' opinions before TRYING TO BITE THEIR HEADS OFF!!???

*SPOILERS*

Team Aqua and Team Magma broke up. Misty wasn't there. So much for that.
