Too bad Misty wasn't there. Yeah, it sorta happened in Japan a little while back, so 4Kids really can't change that...
Then again, those teams do still technically exist, right? If so, there could be another plot going on...

And why linger in the Hoenn League? I'm pretty sure Ash isn't gonna stop there. There're many more chances for Misty to join back with the group (or Tracey. Maybe.) Until then, we're probably gonna see Ritchie again near or at the Hoenn League. (wonder if Ash and friends are gonna climb a massive waterfall?)

Oh, and Ichapokemr, do some research before posting, alright?

~ Hey , I also agree to ^^, I grew up watching pokemon, ever since I was about 6 years old. I do miss Misty cause I grew up watching it, though even if she left she'll be remembered.....
I really like May, I like her style and personality. They r both my fav. female characters in the show^_^'';; *So nothing agains't either of them!* Though I just like May more I guess! ^_^ ~

I'm not sure but I think what Ichapokemr meant that if the makers had wanted to they could have easily had Misty in those episodes(which would have given her something interesting to do) and had her be very angry that they were trying to capture the gentle giant of the sea for evil purposes and helped defeat team aqua. Not that that's what really happens...(at least that's how I interpreted it anyway)

There were a lot of people expecting Misty to come back at that point. But the "great" battle was only two episodes long. I didn't see it, and I'm too lazy to read the summary so I don't know too much about it, just the basics.

Lance was there though. I don't know why they brought LANCE back, of all people. But they did. And I think there was some moment were May risked her life and she did something with Beautifly. I don't remember...

I'm pretty sure the teams literally disbanded, and there haven't been any episodes revolving around them anymore.

Plus, some old Team Magma dude tried to steal the Grand Festival Ribbon Cup, and he said himself both teams broke up. I think so anyway.

Nobody's appeared in the Hoenn League yet, which sort of surprised me a little bit. I wasn't really expecting Ritchie, but I guess I was sort of expecting for at least Prof. Oak and his mom to come watch Ash battle, but they're (along with Tracy and Misty) are watching it on TV.

But I think Ash is about to go into the finals (but I really don't know), so it's kind of... late.
 
I like Misty more than May. I mean, Misty was cooler, at least knew how to be a trainer, and had a quick temper. Whenever Ash and Misty would fight, I found it funny. The thing I like most about Misty would have to be how easily she can scare people. On the other hand, May barely has a personality at all. The only time she does is when she acts like a kid with a temper tantrum.
 
that's just mean...May is really funny, and she has hilarious fights with Ash as well...Misty hits people a lot, and scaring people gets boring after a while...why are you critisising the fact May is a coordinator? she doesn't battle, she goes into contests dude...

While I agree that Misty is better, I don't think I've ever seen May throw a temper tantrum. The funniest thing about her is her "embarrassment face" when she gets shocked or something. As for Misty scaring people, I think what scares them more is her moodswings... XD

Scaring people gets boring only if the person does it the same way everytime. Like Brock annoys people by coming up with some idiotic seduction line every time he sees Nurse Joy (Officer Jenny seems to have vanished).

Also, I've seen May fight with Ash probably... Three times this whole season. She's been in two or three movies, and over 100 episodes. That's not much of a fiery attitude. Also, she does too battle. Every Coordinating contest comes with some sort of battle-thing in the second round, I think.

I think that most people just view Misty as a hotheaded tempered girl who does nothing but bully Ash, when in fact that is not ALL she does; it's just that her role as a character was not as large as May's current role, as May seems to be the second protagonist of the Pokemon AG series.

I have not abandoned my role as a 100% faithful fan of Misty (Needless to say, I never will) because there are so many Misty bashers out there who keep on saying, "May looks better, May is prettier, Misty isn't funny," and that makes me very angry, which makes me like Misty even more. I find Misty to be a more interesting character as a whole (interests, family, love <<Ash>>, etc.).

But that's just my opinion, so don't take anything to heart. :)
 
IMO Misty is a loud mouth. I like May a million times better than Misty so my vote goes to May :)

It's a shame I can't vote anyway.. meh oh well. May rules! ^^;;

What makes Misty and May's personalities different is listed below

Misty
1. Can lose her temper very quickly and easily
2. Very sensitive when it comes to her feelings being hurt
3. Worries about Ash a lot if he gets hurt or injured

May
1. Very placid and rarely loses her temper
2. Can be sensitive at times if someone picks on her
3. Shows some concern when Ash is hurt but not as much as Misty does

Im aware that fellow thread repliers might agree or disagree with my personality differences between Misty & May and i respect that, but i have always and will continue to be a 100% loyal Misty fan :D

I don't see a lot of people doing that anymore. I see a lot of people saying they don't like Misty because she was a *****. Not to bash, just stating the common view.

I see people hating May because she's weak and she doesn't knock people out.
 
taking these things to seriously per say? maybe im irrelevant to the cause but it looks like comments are getting taken too seriously... so what, may pwns this, misty pwns that... ok, they are both 1337ness... praise em both and move on...

You know, I think I'll throw myself into the fray...back in the day I used to be the go-to guy for the pro-Misty argument. I could easily type an essay on her that's pages long, but I'd rather take statements as they come and do individual rebuttals there. If you really want my position, look at some of the old Misty vs. May threads and the Misty club =/ I'll quit now until I have to come back. I just might as well declare my return to the debate <_<;
 
This really isn't a debate. This thread wasn't active for awhile until someone brought it back.

The way I see it, there's nothing to really debate about, except for who adds more to the show. And it seems obvious who that is.
 
But now that the can of worms has been reopened we might as well dive headlong into its mass of writhing muck. People are always willing to bring it up. It's fun as long as it doesn't become a flame war.

And yes; Misty, obviously =p

Mmhmm. May's always doing things--it takes a lot of energy and effort to be the best vapidly-cheerful doormat you can possibly be.

But even if that were true (which it isn't), actitvity never translates to quality. I sit around in my chair and type on the computer all day, but it doesn't make me any less of a person than those who drive around, visit lots of friends, travel, buy expensive things, play sports...on average, they're incredibly shallow people.
 
O.O People get so mean in these threads sometimes... And my eyes hurt after reading all of it!

Anyway, um, personally I like Misty better. However I'd have to say that I really do like May and they're almost equal in my mind.

I like Misty because she's passionate about things and I find her temper entertaining. Her arguments with Ash were, to me, more exciting than simply walking through a forest talking about how lost they were or when lunch was coming.... However, in Johto, she just seemed to stop doing as much. Most of the things she said were support comment to Ash, and rarely was there an episode to develop her as a character (needless to say, they did the same thing with Brock, but even moreso). If they brought her back (which i really hope they do eventually), I hope they give her a better ongoing purpose rather than sort-of trying to become a Water Pokemon Master. If that's what she strives for then she's gotta work for it! Not follow Ash around and occasionally run into water pokemon events. Now I agree that you don't have to be active to be an enjoyable character, but I think Misty deserves more than to just be one of Ash's traveling cheerleaders.

As for May, when she first came on she annoyed me to no end. She was just a little too featherbrained. If that's what you wanna call it. Plus, she had no interest whatsoever in pokemon; which bothered me. However, now I find her featherbrainedness (if that's a word XD) quite funny and cute and I find her relaxed personailty charming. Plus *dun dun dun dun* she actually routinely participates in contests! Which I think are almost more interesting than Ash's gym battles. If they keep May on the show for more seasons, I just hope they give her more contests to do, because without those she will become another "Johto Misty"; a mere cheerleader along with Brock.

Oh and for the record, I am a Pokeshipper, (and a Contestshipper, GASP!), and a teeny bit (just a teeny) of an Advanceshipper. I like others too but I don't think they'd be on-topic for this thread.

I didn't get to vote but I think Misty's better than May. May's too skinny!
