but uuum... I was pretty up on my Poke-facts, even when I was younger. Sooo I don't ever much that confused like that. o_O; uuum.. -digs into old memories-

Oh! For one, I DID originally believe that the Rocket Ship in Emerald (or maybe it was Ruby..) would take you into space, and you could get Jirachi that way. Believed that for quite awhile, actually. Still, I was already about 15 or 16 when I believed that. D8;

..ah, I believed that Pikablu existed when I was like.. 9. That was when pictures of Marill had already started to appear though, and it was just that not too many people knew it's real name yet, though.
 
I remember back in the G/S/C days I used to think that Chinchou evolved into Ampharos
I evolved it into Lanturn and got it to like level 80 before I realised it was Flaafy that evolved into Ampharos hahaha
 
I used to think any Pokemon would evolve with the help of it's Elemental Stone, I got so frustrated cuz they wouldn't x__x; Then my friend told me and i was like...oh, thats stupid.
There were also a lot of Pokemon which i thought evolved into a certain Pokemon, but they didn't. Can't remember much though....i forget easily -__-

Oh! I also thought that moves like Growl, Light Screen, Harden, etc. had no use and were there for no reason so i deleted them. And I thought that Pokemon level up randomly, i didn't know how to look at their exp. in Yellow. XD
 
I suppose I'm the only one stupid enough to have thought that Mew evolves into Mewto :embarrass

Also, I used to believe that HARD STONE evolved ONIX into that silver grind-headed snake...

Apart from that, all good. Fortunately, my town had a lot of Poke-sempais to help me on with just about everything I asked xD
 
I always thought that Mew evolved into Mewtwo at level 100.
I have trouble with evolutions x3
 
when I played yellow when I was 4 I couldn't read xD or knew how to get money....
 
Well I've got a couple years on most of you, so I didn't fall for many of the pranks and rumors. The one main issue when I used to play is that you could only recieve Mew via some sort of contest Nintendo had. So there were hundreds of (incorrect) methods of getting this elusive creature, and I think I nearly tried them all. Let's just say I was a little thrown back when I started playing RBY again the other day and logged online only to find that there was a "legit" way of capturing mew without the use of codes.

I dumped the game when the newer versions came out and there were tons more Pokemon... I guess I'm old school and really only like the first 151. :)
 
When I played Pokemon for the first time (Fire Red), I was about 8 or 9. I chose Charmander, and then fought Gary. I used Growl, and thought ''this looks like a strong fire attack! (I didn't know any English by then, I am Dutch)'', and then, I was like WTF?!??!?! when it didn't do any damage. I thought it failed, so I tried it again, and again it didn't do any damage...
 
Blue: Part of the rock puzzle in Victory Road stumped me for days until I realized I had to push it down the hole...

In Silver, getting the Rail Pass: I actually bought a Pokedoll from the Dept. Store to give to Copycat, not knowing I had to get the SPECIFIC Pokedoll from Vermillion.
 
I have:

  • Tried giving a drink from the drink machine to the guard in Saffron City in FR\LG, only to find about the Tea. :\
  • Only got the Poke Block Case (or whatever it's called xD)after I completed the game in Sapphire, and only found it by accident.
  • Thought the Mew glitch was real.
  • Only trained one Pokemon, until recently (several years ago, probably about 2?)

And that's it. :D
 
I used to think Pinsir evolved in Tauros when I was younger and still such a noob in the world of Pokemon... When was that...2000/1? So, almost 10 years ago. Woah, come to think of it, time flies when you look at it. ._.

It is the only misunderstanding I can remember...
Haha, which reminds me... I was so hyped up when I realised there were new Pokemon (Johto's generation) coming. I hadn't played any of the games (I have at one point Played Pokémon Red on Emulator, and a Japanese Rom of Silver (oddly enough, the names of the Pokémon were "translated". Instead of the Rubbish on my screen (I knew NOTHING about Japan, let alone their way of writing) there was "Waninoko" for Totodile) , and I saw that there were new flippo's in the potato chips... With Pokemon I had never seen before. That's when I learned Elekid's, Marril's and Hoothoot's name... By reading the back of a Potato chips bag. XD And then I told my sister, totally hyper...

Oh, that rom of Silver brings me to another misunderstanding...
I couldn't read any of the attacks Cyndaquil had, so when he learned Smoke Bomb, I thought it'd be totally awesome. But it didn't do anything, so I was angry. XD
When Totodile learned "Rage", it was me who was enraged because I couldn't choose Totodile's attacks, instead he kept flashing red and dealing damage to the opponent.
;D Ah, the memories.
 
I thought that all of the bug type pokemon were actually grass type because of the pkmn cards, and that haunter evolved at level 90. XD I couldn't understand how the ghost gym leader in silver could cheat evolution. XD
 
Back in red/blue I used to think there was a random bloke with a hat...
Didn't realise it was actually a cave back there XD;
 
I thought that Farfetch'd evolved into Doduo... I thought that Ghastly was just a Cloyster without a shell... I thought that Oddish never evolves... I was so scared of Bellsprout that I never tried to get near it... I thought Jynx could be a boy... I thought that there was a Ms. or Mrs. Mime... I thought all Dittos that transform kept the dot-eyes... I thought that Gardevoir was a grass-type(this was before I looked what type it was, and it had part of "garden" in its name!)... I thought that Cacturne was gonna crawl out of my SP and eat me in the middle of the night.... Same with Deoxys... Same with Shuppet... Same with Banette... Same with Bellsprout... I thought that Keckleon was in GSC.. I thought that Ho-oh was the evolved form of Moltres... I thought that Flash would actually do something in battle... I din't know that raising stats were good or lowering stats were bad, so I just kept using all the damage inflicting moves.
 
- Back in the day there were a few rumors I believed, such as that if you obtained an Eeveelution before reaching Bill, he'd let you to the thing behind his building where you could catch some Gen II Pokemon and Mew.
- I had many misconceptions of types that I believed for quite some time actually. Such as that Electric couldn't affect Rock.
- That Tri-Attack was three types at once.
- That all Pokemon (species) were created equal.
 
in silver if u talked to ur mum 100 times she will tell u i bored now i want a battle and if u talked to misty 150 times she would say leave me alone i have a date with my boyfriend at that lookout point place and then next time u would go there she would be with silver and he would battle u again. Lol i wasted so many hours

Yeah, the "Bill's Garden" rumor was pretty famous back then!
