Mom will you check for monsters under the bed plz?

As a child, I was scared of most disasters - most especially tornadoes. I was an avid reader of almanacs and those kinds of stuff as a child, and reading through the disaster section always made me scared. I saw a news report of a tornado in some part of my country, and that seriously made my heart race. I guess I overcame it soon enough, but I don't know when and how.

When I turn a light off at night, I still run back to my room sometimes getting the heeby-jeebies on my neck like some monster is chasing me. :)

That would probably be the one thing I was so irrationally afraid of as a kid. Darkness always freaked me out, but I am over that fear (mostly). :P I think I run to my room "in fear" to relive a little bit of my childhood.

I still do this too. I wasn't even afraid of the dark then or even now so idk. Adrenaline? Maybe that's it.

Anyway, I had a weird issue with new toys. I'll use Christmas as an example. I'd get something for Christmas and play with it ALL day. By bed time, the lights were off and my new toy looked scary in the dark because I wasn't used to seeing it in my room and I'd freak out. I always went to my mom's bed and slept with her and would say "MOM we have to take (insert toy here) back tomorrow it's too scary" lol. I'd either get "it's not going to get you" or "okay yeah" as a response. I'd usually be fine the next morning and realize that I do love the new toy. Just not in the dark.

Please tell me I'm not the only one here. lol

I was scared of the dark, and still have it a bit. Basically, too many horror movies did me in, then at 9 years old I saw that terrible Darkness Falls flick with the "tooth fairy" who kills anyone stepping into the dark. Couldn't sleep right for months after that.
