Introduction:


This Role-Play is a beta of sorts to see how well a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game-like Role-Play is received, to identify possible areas that need improving or fixing, and most importantly to see if it can work. Some things are bound to not work and/or changes in both major and minor ways, but such as betas are. Without further ado, I present to you: Monochromatic Stains. Enjoy.

Plot:

Spiderman, The Green Lantern, Wolverine, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Electra, Batman. Some of the biggest and most known names in the world yet their legacies are fictitious, mere comics and books written from imagination by human writers. Yet their legacies are known worldwide and have had a profound effect on society: nearly everyone wishes to be like them and in this harsh world, it's the only true security we could have. But then these superheroes and their powers are nothing but works of fiction, they only exist on paper.

Until now.

Just like all the novels and comics out there, overnight you have developed superpowers, all different and all of varying degrees. You have gone from a mere human, a single being in a world of millions like yourself to more thing more than human, one in only a mere hundred, a Superhuman.

Yet life has not completely changed. The addition of superpowers to your life is just another burden and responsibility you have to juggle with. You may still have to worry about High School or University, a career to earn money or children to take care of. Life has just become a whole lot harder for you; will you rise up to the challenge and make it or break it?

And then there is your whole other new life to think about. With the onset of superpowers on the human race, the world has become a whole lot more dangerous and full of decisions. Will you take the path of righteousness and become a superhero; someone to whom the people will look up to for guidance and security. Or will you give into temptation and use your powers to wreak havoc and destruction? Will you join up with others to form a league of superhumans or go at it alone? The choice is now yours to make.

But beware; whilst many citizens may adore you, there may be those who want nothing more to see you gone. The people, the humans, those that you choose to help or hinder may just be one of the biggest influences for you. But then again, the world is a massive place, from The Giza Plateau to Central Park, the whole world is literally your oyster.​

I think manipulation of electricity could be a useful super-power, especially with the character I plan to use.
I'll go more in-depth on the ability in my actual SU.

A (Normal) Day in the Life of a Superhuman

Name: Dante James Marrow
Location: Lake Alice, New Zealand
Date: Late September
Time: Midday-ish

The view from the large plated class window that looked out over the peaceful and clear lake screamed freedom yet there was nothing like the white washed walls that surrounded every other side to keep that feeling of captivity. The window offered serenity for many of the patients at Lake Alice Mental Hospital yet for me it was a goal, a goal of freedom from this loony bin. Dante turned to his left as one of the 'inmates' sidled up him me, his hands constantly moving and fidgeting like he needed to go toilet.

""Hey man, y-y-you need to se-se-see this," he stammered, "t-t-t-they are on tele-tele-television ag-g-gain!"

This was most likely another false warning, it was coming from the same mental that thought the military and UN were broadcasting right into his brain about some secret project somewhere. Dante followed him over to the television where a group of mentals had formed, apparently upset about something.

"m-m-move!" the crazy said and the mentals parted like Moses and the Red Sea and he got a good look at what they had been crazy about. A modern day adaption of an old Marvel Comic was playing on the television; these people seemed to believe anything that was on TV was real.

"Thanks, but there is no such thing as Superheroes."

Dante left the crazies to their imagination, walking back towards the window to continue his thought process before he was rudely interrupted.
"That's right, the lake. I think, Iago, that it is time for us to make our escape from this prison cell. What do you think?"

Dante waited for a response yet all he got was silence; the only thing he wished for in the whole world.

"Silence is agreement."

Dante felt the bones in his body vibrate with anticipation. It had been ages since he had actually used his powers, once in the Asylum he decided not to use them until it was time; and that time was now. He could wait no longer; the asylum was slowly killing him. Dante screamed, not in pain but rather in ecstasy; the bones parting through the muscle and skin and finally out through his palms gave him back memories prior to the asylum.

"It's been too long!" he exclaimed, running towards the plate glass window.

A normal human being would just crush up against the glass; maybe break a few bones for his futile attempt at escape. The thing was, Dante was not a normal human; his bones are heavily calcified allowing for him to take hits, jump from high buildings and only receive wounds of the flesh. He slammed into the plated glass and felt it bend then finally give way as his nearing 90 kilogram body fell into it. It was at least two stories below yet the asylum was built on the lakefront. Many parts of it stretched over top of the lake, including the big plate glass window. Dante felt no abrasions from the glass as he sailed through the air, down to the bone crushing rocks.

Dante made contact with the cold, grey rocks and the air rushed out of his lungs, yet there was no sickening crack of bones breaking. He got up, brushing himself off whilst laughing maniacally. Looking up at the hole in the cell he saw many of the crazies watching him, so he motioned them to follow him. Like rain, the bodies fell from the sky landing around him with several sickening crunches and yet more still came.

"Mindless fools," he commented as he walked away from the massacre, the sirens ringing constantly in the background.

Name: Paige Alicia Marrow
Location: New York, America

Time: 12:39:45pm

Paige stared aimlessly out of the window, spinning a small ball of wind around her fingers as she lay next to her daughter. Laughing maniacally, the child watched in amazement at the miracle happening before her eyes however to Paige this was no miracle; just a part of everyday life. Now that little Alice had grown to the bubbly age of two, time just seemed to grow around her and Paige was starting to find it hard not to sit still. She smiled at her daughter, making the small ball of wind speed up then quickly dissipate. Her daughter now lost interest in her mother's hand since the ball had disappeared and turned to look her mother in the eye. They locked eyes and Paige knew, through motherly instinct, that she was sharing the same thoughts with her daughter; what to do?

Child in one arm and umbrella in the other, Paige locked the door to the apartment and headed down the stairs to the crowded sidewalk below. Once outside she skilfully opened up the umbrella and passed it to her child to hold while they joined the mass of humanity. Every so often she would have to correct the umbrella, not to keep it from letting in the rain but to keep Alice from hitting people with its edge.

It was a short walk to the nearest supermarket so within minutes they had reached the warm, inviting supermarket and Paige let Alice down to wanders around beside her. Paige had a list of groceries to get but was in no hurry to get them so she dawdled down each aisle, looking at the many options available, even putting things in her basket that were not on the list. Everyone around her seemed to vanish yet they were still there, to Paige the world was now just her and the shelf.

When she heard the unmistakeable scream of her little girl followed by the firing of a gun, Paige dropped the basket and ran to where she heard her daughter last. People were screaming and running past her but another gunman near the exit fired his gun in the air and the people quickly became scared, trapped animals.

But not Paige, she had been in situations worse than this so she was able to keep calm yet the threat of her child in danger did nag constantly in the back of her mind.

"Nobody move!" The one at the door yelled as his accomplice came out from between the shelves, carrying her daughter under his arm. Tears were now streaming down Alice's cheeks, but like her mother, she was tough and did not bawl loudly.

Paige already had a wind ball spinning, hidden beneath her palm as she waited for the right moment to attack. The two men swapped places and the one that had been at the door approached, bag open to collect money and wallets. Paige hesitantly gave him her money and waited for him to join his accomplice. The other at the tills had put Alice on one of the conveyor belts, proceeding to empty the tills of their contents.

It was the moment Paige had been waiting for, and she acted with lightning fast speed and cat-like reflexes. She projected her ball of wind at the man emptying the tills then attacked the man with his back to her. She leapt to her feet, ran at the man in front and planted her foot into the small of his back, pushing off in a stunning backwards flip, landing back on the group before launching at him with her fist. His head turned just as her fist passed his shoulder and the two collided. Paige heard the crack as the man's jaw broke on the background of shattering glass.

She ran to Alice, picking her up in one sweep and was out of the supermarket before anyone would notice; much less register what went on. She pounded on the pavement, pushing past the faceless masses in a last ditch effort to get home.

Once inside she managed to relax and realised then that she had left her umbrella at the supermarket.

"It can't be helped." She said matter-of-factly to Alice who looked bewildered in her arms.

They managed fine up the stairs but Paige's hands were shaking so much that it took several tries before she could successfully unlock the door to their apartment. Shutting the door behind her, she put Alice down and fell into the couch, huffing loudly.

There was silence between both Paige and Alice; all that could be heard was Paige's breathing and the rain pattering on the window.

"That was fun, I should do it again." Paige exclaimed.

Also, even though they meet up, I am typing the same event twice, one from both of their points of view to show how the same event would feel like for the two different parties.

Boredom

Name: Ashley Curtis
Location: Milestiare High
Date: 17/09/2010, Friday
Time: 1430

Another boring day had passed. Boring maths, boring science, boring english, boring geography. It was all boring. Nothing fun or exciting had elapsed. Even the new zit on Mrs. Haraldin's nose hadn't managed to entertain him for more than 5 minutes.

And then, another boring lesson of PE. Why? Why would others feel so much fun yet he was always bored? Nothing was ever fun. Was beating up the smaller kids fun? No! It was cruel. Having been there himself, he knew what it would feel like.

As he left the boring room of the boring school, the students behind were gathering in a group, getting ready for a fight, which was just what happened everyday. He walked on, noticing how quiet the corridors were with most of the students in the PE room.

And then, he heard someone walking. It couldn't have been him, his shoes were silent. His footfalls were silent. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. Something fun had appeared. He continued on, as silently as he could.

The next junction! Yes! That is him! Jade? What was he doing here? Of course! Jade wouldn't be interested in things like fights. But why was he moving around suspiciously?

Ashley followed Jade to the locker room and from where he was, saw Jade's textbooks swap positions. Without Jade touching them. Was Jade? Did he? He had powers! Just like him! A part of Ashley longed to go towards Jade and shock him. But he didn't. Instead, he waited. And when Jade left and moved into the next corridor, he ran up, shouting Jade's name.

Jade had turned around and dropped his books, to which he had quickly picked up again. "D-Did you see...?" he began.

Ashley felt a slight tinge of regret for what he had to do. He replied, "No, I didn't", firmly and strongly and let his eyes glow red with his own power. He saw Jade's eye open wide. Once. That was all it took. His eyes showed fear, fear and recognition, and one of awe. But that passed and Jade's eyes returned to normal. Ashley and Jade then walked off together. Two friends with powers. Two best friends with powers. And the end of another boring day.

Confrontation

Name: Jade Tyler
Location: Milestiare High
Date: 17/09/2010, Friday
Time: 1430

A loud cheer erupted. "Fight... Fight... Fight..." it went, signalling the start of a fight between two boys, most likely over a girl or something as trivial as bumping into each other.

Amidst the chaos, Jade shuffled silently down a corridor leading into the locker room. At this point in time, most of the students were in the gym, watching the fight. However, Jade wasn't interested in the fight. It was something he found stupid. A fight! Just over some trivial issue. It was not like the safety of the whole world was even at stake.

Jade entered the combination to his locker and reaching out with his mind, felt the presence of the books that he needed for the next two lessons. He let another part of his mind reach into his bag and feel the edges of the books from the previous lessons.

Taking a quick look around to ensure that he was alone, Jade pulled with his mind. It came easily to him, just as easily as lifting a hand or swallowing a mouthful of food. With that pull, the books moved and swapped places, the books from his bag going into the locker and the books from the locker packing itself into his bag.

Jade smiled, feeling the strange, enjoyable sensation that passed through his body whenever he used his powers. It was one of the few moments when he actually smiled. Closing and locking his locker, Jade walked off, preparing to walk towards his next lesson.

As he walked into the next corridor, he heard a voice behind him, calling for him. Startled, he dropped his books. Had he seen it? Seen the powers he had tried so much to keep secret? But as he turned, he saw that it was only his friend, Ashley. But still, he had to be sure. "D-did you see..?", he asked.

Ashley's reaction was strange. He looked deep into Jade's eyes, sending a chill into him. Then, came the answer, with a strange red glow forming around Ashley's pupils. "No, I didn't".

As that was said, a strange feeling came over Jade. Some weird feeling, compelling him to listen to the voice. A weird feeling, coursing through his mind. He felt like following it. It was so comfortable to move with it. But what? Why was it there? No! Ashley? Was he doing something? What about the red glow in his eyes? No! Hypnotism!

As this recognition passed through Jade's mind, the sensation overcame him and he forgot about Ashley's appearance, about the hypnotism that had been attempted on him and succeeded. He saw Ashley again and walked off with him. Best friends again, after a confrontation that he had completely forgotten.

 

[Tuxedo Clank]

An Eventful Night
Name: Matthew John Roberts
Location: Somewhere in New York
Date: 18/09
Time: 1:47 am

Matt had changed into his nightime outfit. It fitted like a charm. Everything was practically skin-tight. Excepting the cloak which was a few sizes too large. That was just how he liked it. The cloak was not meant for rain though. Within moments of leaving the safety of his house it was soaked, along with everything underneath it. The hood was up, obscuring Matt's eyes.

He walked through the dark rain. The streets were badly lit by the street lamps. 'They are more of a hinderance than a help.' Matt thought. They completely destroyed any night vision without actually providing enough light to see into the darkness in every corner. Matt stopped at a corner, checking his direction.

Matt had a job to do. He was looking for someone, He didn't know who he was looking for but knew he would know it when he found them. He passed a bin. Inside it was a lot of rubbish and as usual, a discarded newspaper next to it. Something on the headline caught Matt's eye. He paused and picked it up. The thing was drenched.

He moved into the shelter of a doorway and closed his eyes. He started to flicker and then became apparently solid. Suddenly water splashed onto the ground. Matt stopped phasing. He and the newspaper were dry again. He looked at the headling. 'Death at Asylum' It was an article about a mental hospital in New Zealand. Matt was surprised. It wouldn't have made it to America if there hadn't been nearly a hundred deaths.

There was not a lot of information about it but apparently someone had run through a window and jumped onto some rocks. he was followed by too many mental patients. All the patients had died as far as the reporters had been able to judge. Matt shook his head and dropped the paper.

He walked back out into the rain and carried on his journey. He was soaked again within minutes. He had to take this turning. Then a left. After that he needed to go right, quickly followed by another left. Now he was at the store. It was the cheapest place he had found that sold Coca-Cola. He had been here yesterday, near 1pm. That was where he had seen an extraordinary event.

The shop was being robbed. Matt had even been in a queue when they had arrived. Nobody had noticed him slip out of the queue and prepare to fight. It turned out he hadn't been needed. Some woman had taken down both of them. She had run away before either could recover. Most of the shoppers had barely registered it anyway. Matt had called the police behind a shelf and the men now lay in jail.

The arrest was not at the forefront of Matt's mind however. The woman was. She had a child. Other than that Matt knew very little. He had managed to catch up with her by taking to the roofs. That had led him to a block of apartments. He knew the building but not the room. Thankfully there was a receptionist.

"I am looking for a woman." He said. The receptionist was male and gave a grunt.

"Aren't we all?" Was the reply. Matt scowled and pushed back his hood.

"I am looking for a specific woman. She has a child. A girl about 2 or 3 years old." Matt said. He knew as soon as he said it that the man wasn't going to cooperate. Before the man had opened his mouth Matt had teleported behind him. "Give me an answer." He said. He didn't need it, the man had been sketching a name onto the pad of paper in front of him.

"Much obliged." Matt said and vanished. The floor plan was simple. He knew who she was now. Paige Marrow. He had left a small puddle of water behind him in front of the reception. He located the room and checked the corridor. He began to flicker again. He walked through the door and into the room.

 

[Castiel]

Just Another Day
Name: Ellie Rose Parker
Location: Seattle, Washington; America
Date: September 17, 2010
Time: Approx. 9:30 AM

Ellie shrugged off her black leather jacket as she walked into the cafe. She shook a bit, water droplets from the rain dropping onto the floor. Her uncle looked up at her, eyes disapproving. She put her hands up in defense, stopping him from saying anything.

"Sorry, sorry. Slept late, and lost track of time," Ellie explained with a yawn, putting her coat away in the supply closet. It was only a half lie. She did sleep late, but she still went to the pool at a local gym. If Ellie wanted to swim once a day, she had to get up early. Like, five-thirty, early. Weekdays from 8AM to 9PM--sometimes to 12PM on Fridays-- with a 3 hour break inbetween those hours, Ellie worked at her uncle's cafe. During that three hour break, she was taking online classes to score a GED. She was paid little with this job, but she loved her uncle dearly and couldn't turn him down when he asked for her help. Not to mention it seemed no one wanted to hire her.

"Clean that up, will you?" Her uncle said, pointing to the puddle of water. "Someone could slip, you know? I don't want to have to deal..." He went off on a tangent, rambling. He had a thick Polish accent, born in Warsaw. Ellie had gotten used to his long lectures and learned to tune them out. She started to clean it up, focusing her mind on the water and letting it be absorbed by her armful of paper towels. Her uncle disappeared into the kitchen, and Ellie took her spot behind the counter.

Minutes later, the brunette was slumped over the counter, mindlessly tapping a black-painted fingernail to the beat of some mainstream pop song, head supported by her other arm. Some bleach-blonde girl she only shared two shifts with had set the radio station to one that played the most popular yet so horrible songs. People seemed to like it, so Ellie, by orders, could not change it.

Her hair was damp, and maybe it wouldn't be if it was sunny, but she lived in Seattle and it rained. A lot. After getting out of the indoor pool, she managed to stream most of the water out of her hair, then the rain brought the moisture back. It was a slow day, but tonight she would be busy. A rainy Friday night in a cafe with some local underground band playing; hipsters, posers, college students, and those who consider themselves "intellectual thinkers" will flock, Ellie thought judgmentally. Though, they were much better than most of the people she dealt with on a daily basis.

She slumped her head, slamming it lightly against her forearm. Normally, she was happier. But today was her longest work hour she'd worked in a long time, and she didn't sleep well last night. She didn't hear the sounds of a man approaching the counter, too wrapped up in her thoughts of how long of a day this will be. Thought Fridays were supposed to be a relief.

"Ahem." The clearing of his throat made Ellie's neck snap up. She quickly scrambled to stand up, smoothing out her work shirt. She put on a tight smile, fake as fake gets, and looked at the man.

"How can I help you?" Her voice came out overly cheery, and cracked in the middle of 'you.' She kept her smile as the embarrassment crept inside her. The man raised an eyebrow, glancing up at the menu overhead one last time.

"Black coffee," he answered, looking rather bemused. Ellie nodded, quickly going over to the coffee machine. She glanced over her shoulder to see the man fidgeting with a blackberry. She smiled a bit and put her hand over the open lid of the pot, using her fingers to move the coffee into the Styrofoam cup. If it had water, she could move it. One time, on accident, Ellie spilled the coffee all over her jeans and the counter. It wasn't a pleasant experience, obviously. When she discovered her powers, she used this technique when she could, and was rather grateful for it.

She brought the drink over to the man, telling him the amount. He fished the money out of his jacket pocket, and the door slammed behind him as he went off on his way. Ellie ran a hand through her hair, leaning against the glass case displaying muffins. She stared outwards, watching the people pass by as the rain dripped down the glass. Sometimes her life seemed so incredibly dull, so dreary. She longed and wished for change and excitement. This just wasn't for her. Well, be careful what you wish for.

You Need It, We Sketch It!

The classroom was filled with anticipation. The only anticipation that you could find in any fifth-grade school. Many coined it, "The Five-Minute Rush". Tick, tock, tick, tock. Chris eyed the second hand moving slowly around the clock. Only five more minutes. Now, only four. Three... Two... he was so close... One...
The bell rang like a siren. Suddenly, the hallways were flooded by a wave of eager students, ready to go home. Christopher was among them, of course. In fact, he was in the front, rushing to get out of the school.

Chris watched as the buses all started up and began to depart. He sometimes wished that he could be one of them, perfectly normal, but not now. After all of the large, yellow machines left, the young boy looked around to make sure no one was watching. He closed his eyes, and focused hard. Slowly, the faint outline of something began to appear. Soon, that outline became fully detailed, as though it had just been de-cartooned. The bike was shining red, with neon-yellow spokes and green handlebars.

Mounting the bike, Chris began pedaling off down the asphalt road, bumping up and down as he went.

He would've stopped at his vacant home a few streets down, but not today. He had been planning this day for weeks, months, even! Long had Christopher waited for this moment.

Continuing down the street, he stopped. He had forgotten something! Turning around, Sketch went speeding back to his house. To think he had forgotten the map to New York! Grabbing it, he hurried back outside, placed a "Gone fishing forever" sign on the door, and hopped back onto the bike. "You know," he said to himself, "I don't think a bike's gonna cut it. I know what it needs!" Chris then attached rocket-boosters.

OoC: Can we standardise the dates? Like make it all a certain day. It might help a lot. Standardising the time helps to make the meetup timing sensible, otherwise, if like, Sketch's is on 14/09/2010 and meets Jade or someone else and we're on a different date, it might get messy.

Revealed

Name: Jade Tyler
Location: Milestiare High
Date: 17/09/2010, Friday
Time: 1730

Walking out of Double Math, Jade Tyler thought over what had happened again. Somehow, a part of his memory from before had disappeared. A small blank area of 10 minutes, after which he had met Ashley and found that the books required for his next lessons had already been in his bag. A weird occurrence, and it had been in Jade's mind ever since he had walked off for the next three hours of lessons.

Somehow, Ashley had also seemed weird and different. Sure, they had walked and talked as they walked for lunch and stuff, but Ashley seemed more distant and guarded. Like, something had happened before they had met. Had he lost control of his powers again? Like on the day after... No! Jade couldn't bear to think about that day. No matter how much he had tried to convince himself otherwise, he was actually quite affected by his parents' deaths in Singapore.

A slight chiming sound interrupted Jade's thoughts, the sound of the school's PA system being activated. He looked up at the speaker, expecting some kind of stupid reminder that almost no one listens to or actually needs.

"Good evening everyone." Ashley's voice! Why was Ashley in the PA room? It was out of bounds, wasn't it? "At the end of this announcement, please forget that this announcement even existed."

What a weird statement! Shouldn't Ashley know that no one ever listens to the announcements, also, he spoke with a strange confidence, as if he knew that everyone would listen to him.

"Jade has some weird, evil powers. He's an alien. Everyone, attack him!"

What! What was Ashley thinking? Why? Why did he know about Jade's powers? As Jade looked around him frantically, he saw footsteps approaching. Many students were beginning to file around him. They were looking at him, as if, as if he was an alien.

Why, why would they believe the announcement? And then, Ashley walked out of the crowd towards him. "Forgive me, Jade", he said, as he put his hand on Jade's shoulder. The contact was enough, Jade's mind went off. Something clicked inside and as he opened his eyes, he saw the students moving towards him, looking angry, looking scary. Even some teachers were there.

"Alien! Monster!", came the cries of the students, they started hitting him, some throwing stationary and trash at him.

No! No! Leave me alone! Leave me be! Don't! DOOOOOOOON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jade's mind went into a whirl. He lost his control, he thrashed, he smashed, he destroyed. It was the same as before. The same as when he had lost control at home, in his room. He smashed down the walls. Desperado creeped into him, and long after the students had stopped, long after the teachers had run away, he was still smashing, still destroying. He was unable to stop. He could not stop! Something was forcing him to destroy, something that was enjoying his torture, his torment.

And then, it came, "Stop!". And Jade stopped, panting at the effort, at what he had done. He noticed someone walk away swiftly and he turned to look at the ruin he had caused, at all the attention he had drawn, and he cried. He plunged into a sleep eventually. A nightmarish sleep, but a sleep nonetheless.

Ashley walked out of Math, thinking. He had seen Jade's display of power in the locker room. He had removed Jade's memory of that incident. It should all have been okay, but a part of him was still uneasy about the situation.

Kill him! Hahahahaha!

No! Jade's my friend!
But its fun, as well!

Ashley stopped in his tracks. How! How could those evil thoughts slip into his mind. What were those thoughts? Half of him wanted to torture Jade, the other half, to reveal his powers to Jade and inquire about his. Ashley was struggling with his inner evil. It was strong, and it sought to destroy all that he cared about. Ashley shuddered and walked on again, fighting with the evil inside.

And then! Someone knocked into him. He lost focus, and in that instant, the evil took over. He looked straight at the guy who knocked him and touched him, sending through messages that would instill him to strangle himself until he would die of asphyxia. Having done so, Ashley walked off swiftly, before the guy himself would die.

He entered the PA room, using hypnosis to grant himself access. He prepared himself, picked up the mic, and made the announcement that he knew he would enjoy. "Good evening everyone, at the end of this announcement, please forget that this announcement even existed." The hypnotism should work on normal humans, unless they were used to long term hypnotism or had certain ways to block out the hypnotic waves being sent out. "Jade has some weird, evil powers. He's an alien! Everyone, attack him b-"

Damn you! So close! But still, they should already be attacking Jade. Mwahahahaha!

Me? I am yourself. The evilness in your heart. I would suggest wiping your friend's memory otherwise, he may hate you.

Ashley walked off, ignoring all further attempts to talk by the other, inner personality. Why would that personality say that he was him? What was he? But, he still had to do something about it, otherwise, he might be hated. What if... He mind wiped Jade of the incident? But that still left Jade to attacks by others. He had to... order Jade to defend himself. Probably mind wipe him as well, and hope that things would return to normal the next day. He might probably need to make another announcement to set things right again. But now, he had to ensure that Jade would be fine.

Ashley walked out of the crowd and went over to Jade, preparing himself. Before he started, though, he apologised to Jade: "Forgive me, Jade". He touched Jade's shoulder and willed a memory loss, and for Jade to protect himself with all his powers. A hint of evil crept into his mind, and he steeled his mind, sending it away.

As he walked backwards, he saw Jade's reaction to the crowd looming towards him. He saw Jade lose his composure, he saw Jade destroying the buildings. He saw the students running in fear. He saw all those, as he ran off, hoping to hide at home till things were okay.

From afar, he looked back at the school. What he saw chilled his bones. He saw the school, in ruins. It was caving in, as more and more walls were smashed up. Regret crept in. He kept watch, wondering why Jade wasn't stopping.

Hahaha! He won't stop until he dies!

Ashley ran back, worried for his only friend. How could he have lost control like that. He had to ensure that the evilness stayed inside. He had to hide himself somewhere he couldn't cause harm. Ashley walked into the school, looked at Jade, eyes turning red, willing his intentions into his mouth, and said the single word, "Stop".

He looked on as Jade calmed down, and ran off, crying, knowing that nothing would be the same. His boring life was gone. Now he would live in torture, in fear. Fear of what he would do if he accidentally lost control again.

Floor thumping. Speakers blasting. The room was jamming. Its a miracle the neighbors didn't complain yet. A button was pressed. The room fell silent. "Neil! What the hell man? I was listening to that!" Lyle, the younger, protested while lying on the couch nodding his head to the rhythm.

"You and our neighbors on the first floor. Shouldn't you be going to class anyway? Mom is going to call and complain again," Neil, his older and wiser brother, replied.

"She'll do that anyway. You know her. But today I just have writing class. Why would a Geologist need to write?"

Neil faceplam-ed itself and sighed. "Lyle…don't ask stupid questions. I believe I told you the importance of knowing how to write at an advanced level."

"You just say that because you write for a living. By the way, shouldn't YOU be out there and working?" Lyle smirked.

"In theory, yes. But I took this weekend and next week off to do an independent investigation, so my editor doesn't mind if I don't go into the office," Neil said with a tinge of evil in his voice. After all, he safely won this brotherly quarrel. Lyle pouted in response. He stomped off to the door, grabbed a pack of cigarettes and his black jacket. "Hey! Where are you going?"

"For a walk. Don't worry. I'm not mad at you. Just bored."

"Its raining, Lyle. You may get sick."

"Eh, probably not. If I got your immune system, I should be fine," Lyle chuckled and stepped out the door, slamming it shut.

"That's because…my power makes it hard for me to get sick. But you wouldn't know about that, seeing how I never told you about it," Neil sighed.

About 20 minutes passed and despite the heavy rain crashing to the heavens, Lyle managed to lit his cigarette. He refuses to use umbrellas, believing them to not be very masculine. And its way much work to carry it the whole time. For now, he wanted to enjoy his daily walk. He didn't mind the rain. He rather liked it. He preferred the rain in Ireland more. Maybe it was because it smelled nicer. Americans pollute too much anyway.

Then he heard a gunshot. "What the….?" Lyle said to himself. He ran in the direction the best he could. Without racking his brain too much (it helped that a crowd of people gathered there), Lyle deduced the shot came from the local supermarket that he often goes to whenever Neil forgot to make dinner in order one of those ready to eat meals.

As Lyle approached the supermarket, a bold woman carrying a child broke through the crowd, knocking him out of the way. "Hey, watch it!" Lyle shrugged it off and resumed his business. Weaving himself through the crowd, Lyle managed to park himself at the entrance of the market and slowly made himself in. He could hear the whispers of the crowd, wondering what the young man was doing. Lyle didn't care. The curiosity was killing him. All he saw was the ruins of the market, and two near lifeless bodies. This is unreal, he thought to himself. Who could pull something like this off? Both of these men were armed. Only some experienced federal agent could do something like this. And most of the innocents in here are far from trained. Unless…heh…Neil is going to want to hear this.

Lyle bolted off, breaking through the crowd. He immediately headed home. Mimicking the woman from before, Lyle blasted through any civilians. Being larger in overall size, less people seemed to get in the way. It didn't take him too long to get home, but enough time they saw police cars and even news vehicles driving in the general direction towards the market. Looks like they'll have something to say on the news tonight. Good, I didn't wanna watch the baseball game anyway. Lyle made his way to the elevator, as he was too lazy to take the stairs and he was out of breath from the running. Lyle shuffled over to the toward, padded himself down in an attempt to find his keys and after much flailing around, found a way to open the door.

Making his way into the main room, he saw Neil on the couch watching the breaking news attentively. The current report was that market was in the midst of an attempted robbery before both suspects were soundly defeated by a mysterious figure. Lots of different theories have been thrown around. Some claim it was a woman; others say it was man. Some people barely saw anything. "Not so mysterious to me," Lyle mumbled as he raided the refrigerator seeking scraps.

"What was that, Lyle?" Neil said intrigued, making his way into the kitchen grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl. "You saying you know something?"

"Well, I may have lead. Its mostly theory though. Nothing concrete."

"I am all ears," as he began taking small bites from his red fruit.

Lyle shrugged his shoulders: "Alright but don't laugh. I think it was a young woman, a little younger than you. Most likely married, since she had a kid with her. And I think she was a former federal agent or something. Both of the guys were armed. No way you take out two armed men without some sort of training."

Neil nodded his head in agreement. He stared at the wall as he went into thought. Lyle was used to Neil's habit, as it was perfectly normal and happens all too frequently. "I am going into my office. You know the drill."

"Yeah, yeah. I am locking the door, don't bother me. Do your homework, blah blah," Lyle moaned, taking his sandwich into his room.

Neil simply laughed. He reached into his pocket and used the key to open the door into his office. The office was Neil's haven and was the vault of secrets. His entire career was built in the office. It was his "batcave" if you will. Closing and locking the door behind him, Neil turned on the lights. A single desk was in the room with a laptop. One window remained at the far end of the room with the blinds drawn, limiting the natural light. The rest of the room's decorations was insight into Neil's obsession. A patchwork of newspaper articles covered the walls. Drawn lines made of sharpie covered the articles in order to represent any connections. All these articles told stories of supernatural occurrences. Many of these were minor occurrences that could be easily rubbed off as minor coincidences. But Neil refused to believe in coincidence. He would tell you that everything happens for a reason and everything can be explained somehow. Neil held onto to the suspension that there had to be more than 2 people with powers.

"Maywood, New Jersey: UFO is seen flying south at the speed matching that of a plane. UFO was the relative size of an ant. My theory: Man or woman is capable of flight. Montreal, Canada: Suspected "supernatural" being such as poltergeist terrorizes family. My theory: The young daughter in the family is manifesting telekinetic powers. I have a laundry list of other events, but the events that transpired in the past few days have provided with more evidence of these super humans than what I have collected in the past 9 years. The asylum breakout in New Zealand which leads me to believe that only a superhuman can accomplish, and then the market event in which despite the limited evidence I have to believe that the human must have some gift." Neil slammed his desk in frustration. "But all the evidence is circumstantial! Damn it!" He had never been so close to an answer, yet he felt so far.

A Single Spark…

"Ok" Thale muttered to himself as he pulled his hand backwards, and began to blank out anything that could be classed as a distraction "Let's try this one more time…"

Thale thrust his palm forward, and felt a sharp jolt of pain and adrenaline flush through his body. Sparks of electricity danced across his fingertips, and Thale watched intently. After a minute or two he gave up.

'Why do I even bother?' he thought to himself.

It was a reasonable question. He could just give up and continue with his research, the thing that he loved since he started school. But something about it was intriguing. It shouldn't be possible for a human being to manipulate electricity; it was an anomaly he wouldn't be able to put aside without some trouble. Thale slumped himself down into an armchair, and took solemn in the silence. Minus the occasional car horn, which led to another question; why did he put up with the constant racket of 'The City that Never Sleeps'? Thale pulled up a small notepad and a pencil, and then began to scribble down some words, muttering the words as he wrote.

"Day eight, little progress, further practise needed"

After etching down a few more lines, it eventually led to him drawing a tiny doodle of Superman. He threw down the notepad, and sighed heavily. Maybe it was useless...

'But maybe some fresh air will do me good…'

As he spoke him pulled himself up and paced across the cold wooden floor. He grabbed his blazer from the coat hook, and pulled open the door.

Math. It was Billie's worst subject (isn't it everyone's?). Class always seemed to drag on for ages. Today was no exception. The teacher was busy writing long, overcomplicated equations on the board. Billie and his fellow Freshman were supposed to be taking notes, but he, of course, was drawing stylized stick figures on the notebook pages. Occasionally, he'd glance up at what the teacher was writing. He honestly believed that the teachers made all of the stuff she writes up. That would explain why none of it ever makes sense to him. The teacher began calling kids up to the board to solve the problems. Billie kept his head down, silently praying that the teacher would not call on him. He lucked out; she never did call on him.
The teenagers in the class room let out a collective sigh when the clock hit four-thirty. For most of them, the next period was a free period. Billie immidiately leapt up from his desk and rushed out of the room. It was getting pretty stuffy in there anyway. As usual, the hallways were congested with students switching classes and retreiving various studying materials from their lockers. Billie paused to adjust his tie, and headed off towards his locker. It was at the end of the hall, near the foreign languages classroom.
As Billie begin to open his locker, someone put their arms around his waist and kissed him on the cheek. Billie was not expecting it at all, and fet his face turn red. He decided to play it down, since he was almost positive that he knew who the person who'd just kissed him was.
"Hey, Jordy." he greeted her coolly.
Jordan was one of Billie's best friends. She wasn't from New York either, and, like Billie, was also a Freshman at Milestiare.
"Did you get my text?" she asked in a cheery, sing-song voice. Jordan let go of Billie, and proceeded to fix her bronze hair.
"No. My phone died and Micheal won't let me borrow the freaking charger." he replied, sticking his head in his locker so she wouldn't see him blushing.
"Oh," she said, looking down, "be sure to read it, then, I guess."
Billie could hear the disapointment in Jordy's voice. He looked up and shut his locker. Since Billie was in one of those "manic high" states, he wasn't his usual depressed self. He poked Jordan on the shoulder, and stood on the tips of his toes so that'd he'd be level with her ear.
"Tag!" he whispered.
Then, he shot off towards the cafeteria, with Jordan chasing him, laughing.

Billie sat at the table, alone. Jordan had gone back to class already, but Billie still had half of the period to kill. I thought High School was supposed to be fun. This is such a rip-off. Obnoxious laughter coming from the doorway brought him back to reality. One, two-no- three Seniors were walking towards him. They wove between the long tables and the colorful chairs in the maze that was the Milestiare cafeteria. The apparent leader of the group pulled up a chair next to Billie. Billie looked the Senior over, taking care not to make eye contact. This kid was at least six feet tall, and looked like the kind of kid who played on the football team. Billie could already guess what the group wanted. All the Freshman boys got hazed by the Seniors at some point. Fun, right?
"Hey, little emo boy. You sittin' here 'cause you don't have friends."
Billie looked away. The small talk was bull- and he knew it.
"Go cut yourself and cry." the Senior taunted.
"I will." Billie replied.
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah. I will." Billie said coolly. Now, he met the boy's gaze with an arrogant smirk.
"You talk funny, emo boy."
The Freshman could tell that the kid was about ready to cut the chatter.
"No need to be jealeous. I won't make fun of you because you're from New Yoik."
"You wanna go, emo boy?"
Wow, Billie thought, I usual get at least five minutes of insults. This kid has a pretty short fuse, I guess.
"Heck yeah." Billie said, standing up.
Unfortunately for him, he got exactly what he asked for. The Senior nailed him -hard- just above his right eye. The punch was so hard that it floored the Freshman, who was now seeing stars. His confidence was all but shredded. The Freshamn used the sturdy lunchroom table to pull himself up and to steady himself, as he was quite dizzy from the hit. His opponent, now standing, had a malicous grin on his face. He didnt believe "emo boy" had the guts to hit him back. Wrong! Billie charged forward and jammed his thumb into the Senior's rib cage. Quick, painful, and effective, it was one of Billie's signature moves.
The Senior howled with pain, and knocked over the chair he had been sitting in while staggering backwards. Billie wasn't done with him though. He opened up the fight with an Uppercut to the boy's jaw, and followed it with an elbow to the kid's side. The would-be hazer did not want to get beaten by a pathetic little Freshman. What could possibly be more humiliating? Motivated by rage, the boy managed to get a firm grip on the swift Freshamn and put him into a head lock. Billie wasn't about to beg for mercy, though. That dissatisfied the Senior, who then slammed Billie's head against the table. Thatt's when Ashley's voice came crackling over the PA. Upon hearing Ashley, the Senior dropped the boy he was torturing. Billie was dizzy from the hit. He still took it upon himself to finish the fight. He tackled the Senior, and gave him some rather impressive bruises.
"-Jade has some weird, evil powers. He's an alien! Everyone, attack him b-!"
"Who the hell is Jade?" Billie asked out loud. Just as suddenly as the rogue announcement had come on, Billie was hit with an insane amount of pain. Had the Seniors come back? Intensified by his head injuries, the headache nearly made him pass out. The Seniors left, so no one saw Billie curled up on the floor.
The pain subsided. From the looks of it, he had lied there for nearly an hour. Crap, I missed French- and my ride! The Freshamn snuck out of the cafeterria, hoping to avoid notice. Turns out, that was an unnessecary precaution. Something felt wrong, though. Especially the silencein the hallway. The hall was trashed, and the only person there was lying unconcious at it's center. Billie wanted to wake the kid up and asked what had happened. He lifted the kid up by the collar of his shirt and dragged him outside of the high school. Still no response from Jade. Nothing.
With a sigh, Billie left Jade out on the grass, and started the long walk home. He didn't sing like usual, though. Billie walked home in silence.

Despair, New Resolution

Time: 2100

Ashley laid down on his bed and begun to think. It was exasperating to know that his powers could be this dangerous. He felt sure that by now, the incident at Milestiare High would be on the news. His parents would probably go all worried and not let him go to school or mix around or... anything for that matter.

No school meant no allowances, no allowances meant boredom. Perhaps not boredom., just more time to think about what he had to do to keep the darker side of him down. The influence that "he" had in his mind was already stronger than before, stronger than when he had first tried to help Jade in the school.

Sitting up, Ashley decided what he must do. He must run as far away from Washington and Milestiare High. He went down the stairs outside his room and went into the living room where his parents would be after dinner. They were watching the news. Good. All he had to do... was that...

"Mom, dad, give me money!", Ashley's voice layered with hypnotic waves went.

"We don't have any. Also, no allowance for you since there's no school. Your school's been destroyed, by the way, so no school tomorrow.", his dad replied.

It didn't work! Why? How? It was just like before, he could never hypnotise his parents. Something was stopping him. He hated them, they hated him, the very cycle of hate in his family. Giving up after yet another attempt to hypnotise his parents, Ashley went back to his room. So, running away was impossible without money. So... He had no other options but to lock himself in his room and hope things would go well. But... What if..? Yes! That would work! Ashley lay down in bed and fell asleep as the finishing touches of a plan were formed in his mind.

First Day in American High School

Time: Throughout the school day

Miharu went automatic through out the day, not really paying attention though looking like it. She only snapped out of it when she heard the announcement and the show of power in the locker room.

"And are you saying that he's an alien just because he's different?" she whispered softly to the person who had done that. "If so then you are a dumb ***** and should go to hell."

In a swift movement that was a blur, her fist stopped an inch away from the person's face. She sneered in disgust at the bully's shaking and falling down to the ground, losing her balance just from fear. Miharu walked on, ignoring the glares, the looks, and the whispers from her peers and upper class men.

They can't do any worse than what He did. Everything they could do is just stupid children's play.

Miharu left the school as the bell rang for walkers. She walked behind the school and into an abandoned building nearby. She walked past several staircases and walked to what seemed to be an empty room. She felt for a crack in the wall and found it. Tugging at it, the secret latch gave way and there was a katana in the crack. She took the katana and put it around her shoulder for a quick draw if she would need it.

After finishing, she started walking the several blocks to her house.

"Phew! Finally here!" I sighed as I got into the city limits of the "Big Apple". Boy, getting here sure was hard work. I had to pedal for miles! I could only wish that I were developed enough to make a plane. Planes go fast! Yay! I looked around, finding that the usual hustle and bustle of the day was going on normally. It was easy to dematerialize the bike with everyone else busy focusing on something else.

I soon spotted a pleasant-enough-looking apartment building. I decided to go there, mainly because I always loved the elevators. I drew a door with my ink-bottle on the side of the building and stepped in. Phew! I made it past the counter, and, wouldn't you know it, right next to the elevator. The next five hours I spent going up and down on the elevator for no reason other than that it was fun. Looking at the clock in the lobby, I noticed it was around midnight. Quickly, I headed up to a random floor. I rushed myself in making a key for the door, seeing as this was past my bedtime. Said key barely fit, but it made it. I stepped silently inside to see a 21-year old at his desk. Oops.

Too tired to go somewhere else, I crept over to the guestroom and went to bed. After a few minutes, I knew no more.

Name: Dante James Marrow
Location: Lake Alice, New Zealand

Time: Midday-ish

Dante had walked well into the morning and was now a considerable distance from the asylum. The sense of freedom was intense, like nothing he had ever felt before. Not only had he managed to escape from the enforced imprisonment and the torture of having to put up with the crazy people, but for a while he would be presumed dead. However the first thing he needed was clothes to help him blend in, so when he came to an outlying farmhouse, he entered the house by using his bones as lock picks.

He crept up the stairs to the sleeping couple and stood over top of them like the angel of death at the foot of their bed. With arms outstretched he focussed, this time not no his own bones, but rather the ones in the old couples chests. He felt them come under his control and with a slight exertion of his powers, made their chests cave in, effectively crushing their hearts. He focussed again as he moved the bones back into place once the old couple had stopped writhing in pain so that it now looked as if they had simultaneous heart attacks. That is at least what the death report will say.

Panting at the amount of exertion of power, having not used it in such a long time, he turned and begun to sift through their clothes. He didn't find much to wear, but what he did find was cash.

Dressed in a part of jeans and a white shirt with a bag slung over his shoulder filled with food and cash, Dante moved on into the barn beside the house. There he found a silver ford commodore, shining as if it had just been cleaned and keys sitting in the ignition, waiting to be turned on.

So with the clothes on his back, money in his wallet, enough food for himself and a car, Dante sped down the dust country road and onto the state highway that would take him to the nearest city.

Time: Approx. 9:30 am

Dante had arrived in Seattle only an hour before, dressed in a black trench coat that covered him from neck to feet. When he had arrived in Wellington, Dante had immediately gone straight to a clothes store, mostly to get out of the second hand clothes he was wearing but also to get into something more comfortable.

Now he was in Seattle, on his way to see his one and only sister, to reap his revenge on her. He had chosen the trench coat as when he had arrived, it was raining heavily so the trench coat kept him reasonably dry and warm. His taxi passed an average looking coffee shop, however what drew him to the shop and to yell at the driver to "Stop!" was a twinge he felt.

He paid the driver and left the Taxi a few metres down the street from the coffee shop that had set him off. Dante was sure that what was in the coffee shop was what he was looking for but it felt different yet familiar at the same time. He walked in and was immediately buffeted by warm air and the small jingle of a hanging bell. He glanced around cautiously, eyes half closed, gaining a quick glance at all the people who sat round drinking coffee. None of them even resembled his sister and all of them were mere humans. When he ordered his drink however, things immediately changed from Dante. He was greeted by a younger girl; maybe a year or two differences between him and her, but what he saw in the girl was something close to what he had been looking for. Using the same half closed eye sight, he identified what had sent him off; this girl was wreaking a slightly different feel than his sister.

Dante felt giddy joy begin to grow within him yet kept his apathetic outward view. "This girl may be able to assist me in finding and defeating my sister, she feels a lot like her so maybe this time I will have a chance." He thought to himself, the joy subsiding.

A single bone, like before, began to shift through into his palm, growing and sharpening until in his left hand a single white bone protruded from the middle of his palm. Lifting his hand up, the slightly longer sleeves fell back down his arm until it was pointed in the barrister's face.

"I am giving you the choice. Join me, or fight me. I know your secret, so what is your answer?"

It was early in the morning when Paige felt the disturbance in the air. The previous night she had lain low, after the supermarket incident she had wanted to go out like in previous times yet she decided to stay at home. The adrenaline rush had long since worn off when her husband got home so she spent much of the night feeling tired; a price to pay for using her powers. Once little Alice was down and out for the count she retired to bed, followed by her husband soon after.

But now she lay awake, her husband softly snoring next to her, waiting for the next disturbance to occur. There it was! Every time the intruder breathed she could feel the light disturbance that they made in the air, no normal human would have felt it at all.

Quietly she put on the clothes lying beside her bed and walked out of the bedroom, shutting the door on her way out. She passed Alice's bedroom and shut the door, making sure not to wake her.

Paige had closed the doors to her loved ones bedrooms and now proceeded down the hall and into the lounge where she was sure she could feel the disturbance come from. She hid around the corner of the doorway, the intruder standing just inside from the door. She pulled the gun out from the back of her jeans and silently cocked it, all the while keeping her eyes on the target. Weapon raised, she walked into the doorway in full view of the intruder.

"Who are you, why are you here and what do you want?" she spoke calmly, keeping her cool was the best thing she could do. If she chose to shoot, then her loved ones would hear nothing.

Confrontation

Name: Matthew John Roberts

Matt closed his eyes and paused for a moment in the doorway. In a quiet room, everything made a sound. Every night when he did this, Matt felt the adrenline slowly enter his system. His senses were heightened. His vision was brilliant for most people but in this gloom, not even he could see his hand in front of his face. He waited for something to happen. There it was. A faint sound. The closing of two doors, reducing the sound of the snoring to something almost inaudable. Then the sound of an object being removed from clothing. He smiled. His body was still flickering slightly.

He heard her voice. That was her. Matt teleported behind Paige. "I don't want trouble. I just want to talk. I saw you in the store." He said all of this quietly. He took the precaution as he had teleported to keep himself phasing. "That gun won't be needed, nor will it be effective." He added as an afterthought. He had been shot at before. Matt had been shot at several times during a break in. None of the bullets had even hit him.

Ghost had watched the school all day. His position was on the top of the building overlooking the main entrance. He had been there when his target had gone in. He had watched them arrive and every time they went outside he had tracked their movements. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He was waiting for the day to end. From there he would have followed the target along the usual route, making sure to get a good position at his intended point of attack. He had spent days planning this attack. The whole plan could have gone off flawlessly without anyone knowing what had happened. Instead some child had ruined everything.

It had been a bit past 5:30 in the afternoon. Some of the students had run out of the school. This was not the normal kind of their hurry to leave. This had fear edged in it. A few moments later the school exploded. It had ripped itself apart. That was not good. Ghost's target could either be responsible or dead. If someone had got there first then they would have an assassin on thier hands. There was a code that Ghost always followed. If a target was killed by someone else then they became the next target.

Ghost noticed a few survivors. One walked out, completely unscathed and left. He had scoped in on them to check who they were. Someone who was an aquaintance of the target. Another one dragged a body out of the wreckage. This one he didn't know. They hadn't had a lot to do with the target before. Then they too left. The body was still lying on the grass. He scoped in on it. It weas the target. A turn up for the books alright. Ghost had a code. He would not kill the helpless. He flicked open his phone. It had been modified so that nobody could trace the signal. His thumb dialed the number as he watched the body, making sure nobody would harm him further. "Hello, I would like an ambulance to Milestaire High please. There has been some kind of explosion." He closed the phone and left for the hospital.

He would make it to the hospital after Jade got there. Ambulances were faster than him. He collapsed the support legs of his sniper and strapped the weapon to his back. Ghost checked his bearings and then set off. He made the sprint whilst invisible. He was runnning on the roofs. The slates never even slid as he ran over them. When he got to a gap he would sprint faster and jump it. If the gap was too large he would change direction until he reached a jumpable gap. He never had to double-back.
