1st Gen MonoSPECIES Challenge (Red, Blue AND Yellow)

Yeah, even if someone HAS completed the challenge... I don't want another user to come along and copy exactly what they did, so thank you for choosing another Pokemon Harry Blue5. (Btw... nice name. Fan of blues and/or Harry Connick Jr.? (sp...))

Sorry about not posting. To be honest... I WAS going to let this challenge die (because I was seriously getting annoyed trying to raise 3 Caterpies to level 10 >:O!), but since I'm extremely bored and very interested in this again, I'll start doing the challenge :)!.

Name: Ryan
Game: Yellow (GBC)

Obtained Pikachu as a starter and went through the first part of the game as fast as I could. When I got to Viridian Forest, I decided to capture my Caterpies for the game. Caught them at about levels 3/4/5 and named them: Gibson, Morris (lol), and Psycho. This is going to be a really fun challenge... XD!

On a side note: YES! Gibson FINALLY evolved XD!

A bit more playing, and Gibson evolved again for my first Butterfree, and Psycho just evolved into a Metapod. This still is going to take a while :/.

Team:
Pikachu L: 9 (Yes I still have to use it >:O!)
-Thundershock
-Growl
-Tail Whip
-Thunderwave

Gibson L: 10 (YES... Butterfree! And he's BLOO!!!)
-Tackle
-String Shot
-Harden
-Confusion

Morris (Caterpie) L: 5
-Tackle
-String Shot

Psycho (Metapod) L: 7
-Tackle
-String Shot
-Harden

Hmm... well I guess I over-think things a bit, eh? :D! Good Luck on your new challenge by the way, sorry about making you restart after 3 badges :).

Don't worry, I don't mind, but the sadest thing is... I'LL HAVE TO RUB THE OLD MAN's (the Captains) BACK AGAIN! EWWW! Lol.

EDIT: After you complete a challenge, can you do another one? Or do two challenges at a time (you know, some people have two RBY games)? Or are you only allowed to do one.

EDIT2: Don't worry about me restarting, I'm using a ROM, I can technically continue that save whenever I want.

Nothing much has really happened. I'm still training my Caterpies (and they said Bugs were EASY to raise :O!). After that is Viridian Forest... finally I actually get to do SOMETHING in this game :).

Team: OK, I'm only going with 2 Butterfrees because training Caterpies is both hard, annoying, and time consuming.

Gibson (Butterfree) L: 10
-Tackle
-String Shot
-Harden
-Confusion

Psycho (Metapod) L: 9
-Tackle
-String Shot
-Confusion

HM Slaves- Pikachu (Soon-to-be-Flash)

What's taking you so long BREAKINGBEN? Lol, just kidding, I have a level 35 Pidgeotto with 5 other Pidgeys (who I never ever trained). I've completed the S. S. Anne and the only thing left is to sell an item so I can finally put HM Cut in my inventory.

I'm just... taking my time. Yeah... just taking my time >.> <.<... plus Halo has been calling my name all day, so I kinda got carried away with that for a while. Man... Warthogs are fun to splatter people with... :).

Wwweeellll... Viridian Forest was very easy. Butterfree's confusion took care of all the weak bug Pokemon. No real challenges yet. After the forest I wanted to level up a bit, just to be safe. So after another hour or so (low level pokemon suck...) I took on Brock. The Jr. Trainer or w/e was a sinch. Gibson and Psycho were an awesome Confusion tag-teaming duo, taking out both Diglett and Sandshrew in two hits. Then came the Gym leader, which was also simple. Three Confusions for both Geodude and Onix and I had my first Badge! Yay!!!

Now it's time to level up to about 17 or so, then take on Mt. Moon!

Before Mt. Moon I decided to catch a couple of Pokemon for Flash, just so I don't have to later. I caught a Spearow (Farfetch'd trade, two birds with one stone... literally :D) and a Rattata. Nothing major, almost done with training though!

EDIT: I REALLY hate Sand-Attack...

OK, Mt. Moon was fun, but yet boring. I was able to train like a madman :D! Only having to use an Escape Rope once.

The Super Nerd was easy (Confusion FTW... still!), and I picked up the Helix Fossil on my way out... ONLY TO REALIZE that I was actually playing Yellow version. Good thing I caught this in time, or else I'd be screwed. Just as I was about to exit, guess who shows up? Jesse, James, and Meowth. Hey, more training for me! Four Confusions and they were toast.

A bit more training (yes, I'm overtraining a LOT... 7 hours of gameplay so far :(), then Nugget Bridge! Yes, I do Nugget Bridge/Cerulean Cape THEN Misty... it's just easier for me :D.

Nugget Bridge was pretty simple, Confusion-mania set in pretty quickly though :). I now have a Charmander and a Nugget on my way to Bill's house!

Did the Bill thing, easy peasy lemon... pie? I loved the expression on Pikachu's face though! Priceless. After that was done, I set off back towards Misty's Gym for a quick match.

The first trainer was easy, Shellder and Horsea went down with a Confusion or two. The second trainer managed to beat Psycho by using Supersonic and Peck... plus Tackle wouldn't hit so meh! After her I went to heal then face Misty. Pretty easy start, Psycho Poisoned then Confused Staryu for an easy KO, but then Starmie came out. As you all SHOULD know, Starmie is part Psychic, and Tackle is my only non-Psychic move... so this wasn't fun. I started off by missing Poisonpowder twice and getting knocked into the Orange. It finally hit then all I had to do was wait it out and use Confusion. Lucky for me, Misty A.) did NOT use any potions :D, and B.) kept on using X Defend... even though I was using a Special Attack >.>. A few seconds later and I had my Cascadebadge! Now off to Vermillion and some other stuff...

Team:
Gibson (Butterfree) L: 26
-Tackle
-Poisonpowder
-Sleep Powder
-Confusion (<33)

Psycho (Butterfree) L: 26
-Tackle
-Poisonpowder
-Stun Spore
-Confusion (<33)

I'll try to mix up their move sets later... there really aren't any good TMs so far. :/

Stun Spore is Fun! So is Sleep Powder :D!

Hey guys (and girls), I was thinking, after this challenge is done, that I would set up a G/S/C Monotype. Yeah, I've seen a few fail in the past, but I wanted to see if any of you would like to be apart of it?

Just a thought, though it won't be set up 'til Sunday at the earliest ( I still need to beat this challenge >.<).

Also, I don't know if I wanted to do Monotype, Monospecies, Starter-only, or whatever. So if you could throw in your two-cents for that as well, I'd appreciate it :). Thanks and good luck with the challenge you are working on!

I'd love to be a part of the next Mono challenge, but i don't think it's possible to just do a starter (unless you Gameshark, or you're allowed to use HM Slaves). How about, a 6 Pokémon Only Challenge, you could call it the MonoSIX Challenge.

Eh, too widespread. That's basically what you do in Pokemon games any way :). Get Six Pokemon in a party and battle people. About the starter, you just tank the starter throughout the entire game. By the end... you'll probably have a L: 100 Typhlosion or something XD!

I was kind of leaning towards that possibility, or I would just make up a different one. I don't really want to do another Monospecies, even though it is a REAL challenge, it gets kind of boring after a while. So, Monotype and Starter-only are kinda my favorite options so far, but I have some time to decide anyway...

I think you should do starter-only, I'd participate in that...

As for this challenge, here is what's happened.

-started new game
-chose Squirtle
-Caught a Nidoran, and killed like a dozen Ratata's, and like 10 Pidgey's

-then dumped Squirtle

Now my Nidoran's level 10 and FINALLY learned Horn Attack. I'll be heading into the forest next...

STATS
Name: Nick
Pokemon:
-Nidoran LV 10/ Attacks- Tackle, Leer, Horn Attack

Yeah, I had an idea set for a Starter-only challenge :). Don't worry, I'll try to incorporate every thing from the GSC games.

As for my update... I don't have one yet! Just got the bike from Cerulean though!

yuoaman, don't forget to come back after some training to fight your rival, he'll give you more experience than Wild Caterpies or Weedles.

I vote Starter Challenge!

Trainer Name: RTW
Pokemon Species: Maybe Kanghaskan?
Game: Yellow

Thanks for letting me sign up!

oh yeah... err..... maybe Mankey then...

Yeah, Mankey is pretty good. Good choice!

All the good Pokémon are going quickly, I pity anyone who doesn't pick a Pokémon soon.

Name: RTW
Species: Primeape
Game: Yellow

Started off the game by grabbing the potion from the PC. Then I ran out to the grass and Oak caught his Pikachu. I get it and battle Gary's Eevee.

I slaughter it and scamper over to Route 1. Luckily, I encounter no wild Pokemon along the way. Going in to the mart, yadda, we all know what happens.

On the way back, I find a Level 5 Pidgey and a Level 3 Rattata. Not caring about Pikachu, I run from it. Back in the lab, I obtain the Pokedex. Before I leave, I go to Daisy's and grab a town map.

Level 4 Pidgey. Run. Now in Viridian City, I do the old Man event where he catches Rattata. Then I head off into the route to the left, forgetting I have no Pokeballs. Going through around 20 Pokemon before I find Mankey is tiring, but, more painful is that, ofcourse, I have no Pokeballs.

At the mart, I buy 15. Now, I go to the Route again. Now after about 7 Pokemon, I find a Level 5 Mankey. Thundershock it twice, throw a Pokeball at it, and success!

End Team:
Lvl 6 Pikachu:
Attk 12
Defense 8
Speed 16
Special 11
Thundershock w/ PP 27/30
Growl w/ PP 40/40
Tail Whip w/ PP 30/30
__
Lvl 5 Mankey:
Attk 13

Defense 9
Speed 12
Special 9
Scratch w/ PP 35/35
Leer w/ PP 30/30

Walking off proudly to Viridian City to Heal my Pokemon. At this point I dump Pikachu. Now I go off to train in Route 1. If I counted correctly, I beat 2 Pokemon before I blacked out.

Sad.

I start to train again. This time I got through 2 Pokemon and to Level 6, but after the 3rd Pidgey I blacked out. I decided to train on the other route. Now this time I got through 5.
Now after a long round of 50 some Pokemon, I end up with Mankey with no scratch/low kick PP at level 10. I think it's time to kick some Gary booty.

Way too easy. Took me 3 turns before he lost.

End team:
Level 11 Mankey

Attk 25
Defense 16
Speed 22
Special 16
Scratch w/ PP 34/35
Leer w/ PP 30/30
Low Kick w/ PP 17/20
