Anyone else here play the games?
I've played Tri (my first Monster Hunter game), Freedom Unite, 3 ultimate, 4 ultimate & am now currently playing Generations.
I can make room in my friend list for anyone who's interested, but only expect to play with me on the weekends.
Also, I am confident enough that I could help with any questions you may have regarding the games.
(OK, so there will be some things I don't know, but I can do research to try answer your questions anyways.)

I play the series! MH3U was my first game, and I also have MH4U and Generations. Haven't played recently though (been working on other games and also life). I rather like the Monster Hunter games.

I use Insect Glaive and Longsword, and also used the Charge Blade for a bit.

I got started with Tri on the Wii and then never looked back.

...Is what I say, but I guess when I really think about it, 3 and its G version are the only ones I've invested time in. I have one for the PSP but never really put time into it. Other than that, though, I've been wanting Monster Hunter X and 4 for years but they've never dropped to a price where I felt that I'd be invested in them from the moment I started to justify a purchase.

Not to say I wouldn't, I love the series. As for my weapon of choice, I stuck with Sword and Shield back when I started and enjoyed it quite a bit, but after I tried the Switch Axe I fell in love. Which is ironic, because the Katana was what I had my sights on but, unlike with Ultimate/G, you didn't get standard versions of every weapon right off the bat in Tri, so you had to work for it.

But yeah, Switch Axe is my love, and I can handle a Long Sword pretty well by extension.

    Sorry for my long absence...
Anyways, it's awesome to see other Monster Hunter fans!
Hopefully they'll announce the next game in the series (Monster Hunter Double Cross) for North American release soon...
I have seen a lot of stuff in it that I am very excited for!
It releases in Japan next month, so if they're going to port it overseas, they should announce that pretty soon...
Don't see why they wouldn't, as Monster Hunter has been getting more & more popular here in the U.S. of A.

I played Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and it was ok. Didn't really live up to the expectation I held for it. Just ends up being a lot of the same thing once you work out a monster's attack patterns/weak points.

Monster Hunter Generations really changed things up with the debut of Hunter Styles.
They change they way you use your weapons & there are 4 of them.
So 14 different weapons with 4 different styles...
That alone gives you 56 different ways to play.
(& There are more ways to hunt, actually.)
You can try different weapons with different styles to change things up, maybe find a better way to slay those beasts. As for the monsters themselves, they do change each game, maybe they behave differently or have new moves to throw people who played previous games off guard.
The thing I love about the series is that each new game is a huge improvement upon the previous one.
I feel that Generations is the current best ever Monster Hunter & from what I saw, Double Cross will be even better.
