Suggestion: Monthly PC Magazine

    So I stumbled upon this idea and thought I should post a thread on this. I'm suggesting that we folks at PC release a monthly magazine called something. Basically in that each section contributes one article and stuff like that. You;ll could also announce the MOTY Awards there. So what do you guys think?
     
    It's been suggested before and it's a nice idea, but I'm just... not too sure what exactly would go in it which isn't already documented in this thread. I mean, I guess MotY is something, but that's a pretty irregular thing. Changes to sections are already logged in that thread I linked earlier, so all I can really think of including in it would be events / particularly popular threads? Which, to me, doesn't seem all that worth it especially when staff tend to use forum splashes or blogs to advertise events anyway.

    I could attempt to start something like this. Not every section needs to be in it. For each month you can just talk about some of the important topics, achievements of certain users, an interview maybe. It could be something small.

    Also, this doesn't really need to be a suggestion. You can do this on your own time and prove something. Get together a team of people or something and get crackin!

    No, what I was thinking of was maybe a few people could work together and make funny or eye raising articles that would be fun to read. But seeing your post I understand what you mean.

    It would be nice if somebody could help with this idea. And yes we could do all the things that you've said in addition to a few articles on something else. Overall something that's small. Thanks a lot for the suggestions though!

    Just so you know, I took this suggestion to the next level and asked the Site Administrator (Forgot his name). He told me that if we show him something and it's good, he'll approve it.

    I'm getting ready for work now. PM/VM me though with details and we can figure it out when I get back.
     
    First off,

    Were still working on a better magazine-

    And two- id love to help out with this! Id love to contribute in any way.
    And for who sends in the submission, it should be the moderators, and members that put in their suggestions on the news of that subforum that month.
     
    Sounds to me like one of those Sunday Chronicles. >:3

    I think it would be quite interesting to see this implemented. I think we could have a team of Newswriters or something that could type out articles about events going on, what seems to be popular at the moment, and all of that. The Staff can present it but I think having lower tier members giving ideas and typing out the articles and shizzle would let the community in on it. It would definitely increase community participation. People not on the news team could suggest ideas and maybe report things that would be good for the article.

    Few things:

    - where would it be put? This is a forum alone after all, I don't know what section it would best fit by itself, and a subforum for it... seems odd to present a magazine in, really.
    - Stuff that would go in (e.g. funny stories, etc) already have sections for them. Ideally, taking activity away from section isn't something I'd be for.
    - I don't like the idea of 'For each month you can just talk about some of the important topics, achievements of certain users, an interview maybe.' being the theme - it sounds like a somewhat cliquey bunch of things that would tend to promote mods or popular users above others. Also a bit vague - what is an 'important topic'? I don't really understand what the magazine is actually about yet.
    - keeping up the activity/interest from contributors and things to write about is a major concern. I'm running a Pokemon webzine myself atm and it's not that easy to keep on top of. And as said, there doesn't seem to be a clear theme yet from the above posts, just people saying different or vague things.

    Kinda negative I suppose, but well, it's not the first time a magazine has been floated up for PC, and it just never worked out.
