This week, the battle between Ash and Chuck continues, and Ash takes advantage of his new ability of Mega Evolution to turn the battle around!
The biggest change from the original was replacing Bayleef (who Ash used in the original) with Luce. Since Lyra has Hana the Bayleef, Luce made the most sense to replace her--she would have an advantage against both Chuck's Pokemon, and it would be fun to see how Mega Evolution would've affected the Gym battle had it existed in HG/SS (something Ash will use in the other remixes, as will)
I did check Bulbapedia to see if it was possible for Ampharos to learn Body Slam, and it can, so the central conceit of the episode is intact.
I also expanded on Brock and Misty with Chuck's wife and had Brock tell her a version of "Moltres, the Herald of Fire" (which just like its real world counterpart, has versions across the world, even several versions in the same region. As this stage, Brock knows several Kanto versions and a Johto version--what we see here is the standard beginning of the best known Kanto version)
Next time, we bypass the Whirl Cup (which went on the cutting room floor for logistical reasons), and go right to the Lugia mini arc, where Ash learns to sing the Swanna Song himself!
