More Rivals?

Hey, how ya doin'. Is there anyone who enjoyed having two rivals from the beginning? Because I liked that. So, I thought that maybe the game would be cooler if there were more rivals you could meet throughout the game, and then fight in a tournament, kinda like the anime. After you beat the E4, you could go to this tournament type gig with 64 entrants. Win a match, you move up to 32, then 16, then 8, 4, and 2. And in the tournament you could see other rival trainers you've seen through your journey, and even other surprises. Stronger Gym Leaders, E4 members, Previous protaganists(Red, Gold, etc.), and antaganists (Gary, and... um... Gary), and other gym/E4 people (Cynthia), and then the random Tobias trainer who's rocking Darkrai, Latios, and God knows who else. Each trainer, like wild pokemon, have a percent chance to show in the tournament, protaganists, antagonists, Tobias guy, other strong members having a lower chance of showing than the fricking kid with the top 1% Ratata.

    Does this sound fun?

That actually sounds pretty awesome. I like the idea of meeting different rivals throughout the game, because it would be more like the Anime as you said. And the thought of a good-old-fashioned plotted tournament sounds wonderful, especially with the older protagonists and antagonists involved.

I think if there was a better way of communicating with Trainers you've met and been forced to battle with would help in this case. And I don't mean those stupid calls, but this would help if they were going to implement a tournament. You could battle those trainers again, only they'd obviously be stronger. Though honestly, I don't think this will actually ever happen, though it would be nice. But in a sense, they would be turned into rivals anyway.

Well, there are only so many rivals that can challenge you repeatedly throughout the game... unless you want to be pulled into a battle every time you walk out of a building. A tournament idea with trainers you've met before does sound interesting, though, however I wouldn't call them actual "rivals." Maybe if they brought back the Vs Seeker it could be the trainers you rebattled most often that would show up at the tournament at the end.

But if we're going to involve the protagonists from past games, let's make it the girls and not the guys, 'kay? The girl protagonists are woefully underrepresented in Pokemon games as it is.

All you have to do is replace one trainer every route with a stronger-than-normal-trainer rival person. And then have people, Rivals you can find in these random houses that serve no purpose in every city throughout the game, completely optional to fight. Isn't it time we could challenge others for a change?

I don't understand why both male and female protaganists can't participate. It's sexism to exclude males, too, ya know.

Oh, and I mean rival like Ash means rival; a person you meet along your journey who's strength inspires you to do better. You don't have to fight this person everywhere you go, or contend with them in epic legendary pokemon catching battles, but, like, when Ash met the kid with a pikachu, Sparky, and a squirtle, Shellshock (I think), along with other pokemon who made Ash try harder.

I like having the idea of gaining rivals as you proceed in the story. It would also be nice if the rivals had different personalities, similar to Bianca and Cheren from B/W.

That would be pretty awesome, its more fun to play the games with more rivals. I loved how B/W had two rivals.

Just to nitpick Richie doesn't have a Squirtle. His team that has been shown consists of Pikachu(Sparky), Charmeleon(Zippo), Butterfree(Happy), Pupitar(Cruise), Taillow(Rose).

I like the idea of encounter trainers that are to lesser extent rivals. But keep a main rival through out the game. As much as I would like them from the beginning I didn't care for Cheren or Bianca at all, I want rivals like Blue and Silver that actually are forceful, mean, and push you to great lengths. For me I want quality over quantity, but if they could achieve both then more power to them. Like I said meeting new "unique" trainers that are considered rivals periodically would be quite interesting at add something to look forward to on occasion as well as have some worth while battling.

Sorry. Upon research, I learned that Shellshocker was the name of the Blastoise in the Mewtwo movie. I didn't watch much pokemon after he left Kanto (Stopped altogether after Misty left), but I remembered Richie for two things: He coppied Ash's pokemon, and he gave them nicknames. You can see the memory mix-up from there.

I kind of wish the rival challenged you for a change, as in more frequently. And the game didn't heed it necessary to accept their challenge, just to give it more of a RPG feel. This could also kind of affect how frequently the rival shows up in the tournament.

I like the idea of a tournament though. I think it would be fun if they used the same mechanics as the Battle Dome, except you can enter six pokemon instead of two, and you can kind of view what kind of pokemon your opponent uses.

Well, now that I think about it, if they were to include Protaganists from past games, what would their teams be? I mean, we all know Red's team... and then there needs to be a second team for the male and female protaganists. Anyone care to list teams for different protaganists? Whether they have teams in the manga (I never read them), or if you would want to declare a team that particular character design looks like they would have. I'd like to see that.

So, if anyone wants to take a stab at teams for them (Because we're not doing much else anyway), we need teams. Every protaganist having two teams, a Regional team and (If you want one) a National team. Try not to give two mains the same Pokemon. Only add legendaries if you feel it is ABSOLUTELY necesary for that particular character.

    Kanto
Male: Pikachu, Charizard, Venasaur, Blastoise, Snorlax, Lapras
(I'll just try her) Famale: Gengar, Golduck, Nidoqueen, Magmar, Aerodactyl, Dragonite
    Johto
    Male:
    Female:
    and so forth.
