Has anyone ever considered doing a game with Gen 1-5 All regions?
Over the past few years ive always been hoping someone would start a project up around that idea.
Curt Posted a Regional starter kit with 2 Regions already done, without the npcs and such.

Darn, doing only one Region is a lot already!
I mean, to completely replicate a Region, you shouldn't only think of the Overworld, you as well have to rework all what's inside every house, and what not.

It might be reliable when working in a Team of 20 people, 10 of them do Art, and 10 of them do Programming, and both groups split up into 2 people per Region, ending up with 4 people working on every Region.
In these groups of 4 people, 1 Programmer and 1 Artist work deal with the Overworld, while the other 2 deal with the rest.

So I wouldn't just ask 'someone' to do this.

When i said "someone start a project" i meant more than one person...
But yea, A Team could pull it off in a year probably a team of 10 people.

You will not find many people willing to devote a year to a project like that. There is an incredible amount of work a single region, and most people cannot even do that with a team.

Also consider that everyone wants their idea to be THE idea, and that is why you do not really see teams for the most part.

Well, I have a Team of 4 people, working on my idea.
Of course I give my Team Mates the freedom to provide suggoes too, but I'm talking about the core idea.
I'm not talking about Chimpuzzle Pro, I'm talking about another Wii U game, and probably on upcoming games too.

Your experience with teams and non fan games, is not very applicable here. I say that, because I have been here and seen many games, developers, and teams, crumble because fan game development is not the same as game development.

It has been considered yes, but other than Blue Chrome(Which died), it's pretty much just been an idea floating around for anyone to grab. Not many in this section has the motivation to work on something usually done in their past time, which means those competent enough to do it are few in number. I could name members in this section that have actually contributed, but it should be obvious by the lack of completed games compared to the hacking section(Which in truth isn't saying much) who is and who isn't. Point is, unless the users in the Games Showcase put a halt on the games their already working on(Which all have significant progress) it isn't going to happen.

    Again this subject?

Pokémon Silver Chronicles has Johto, Kanto, Orange Island and Hoenn (more than half) complete, but is current dead.

Using the RSEFrLg graphics a single person can do the three first regions (there lots of Johto custom made sprites) in less than 6 months.

There is a lot more work in this than people realize.

It's never been done before; many people make promises they can't keep. You underestimate exactly how much work goes into making even a single region playable, let alone multiple ones. Also, there's issue with balancing the game, as by the end of the second region your Pokemon will all be in their high 80s, and it doesn't make logistical sense to continue on to a third region after that without wiping the slate clean and forcing them to restart with a level 5 starter, not letting them access their older Pokemon again until they beat the third region... although that might make some players angry.

I believe Masuda has gone on record saying that fans who want a game with all Pokemon and all regions are deluding themselves, they would never make a game like that and it wouldn't be much fun anyway... although I tried to find the source and couldn't, so you'll have to take it with a grain of salt.

Going to jump on the bandwagon and agree here, this takes a lot of work.

Things change. Friends may decide to stop being friends, maybe the idea doesn't seem as appealing any more after 7-8 months of work. You start looking at the project after two years and realize you're only halfway done.

    Don't be too ambitiuous :P

Perhaps it is a bit overambitious to make a Multi-Region game, but I'm sure the concept of the Internet was an overambitious project when it was first conceived. Nothing gets done by saying it's impossible.

I will agree, despite being someone working on a Multi-Region game, mostly by myself no less, that such an undertaking is a large one, magnified 100-fold if it's by yourself. Before you even start making it, you need to plan out each facet for the region, what will happen where and when. You need to determine the balancing, the pokemon diversity, and a whole plethora of other factors. If you can manage to plan out the details, you're one step closer to getting the project underway and done - but these are things one needs to take into account when making even a singular region game, however multi region requires much more thought.

I am of the firm belief that it can be done, so long as you are willing and dedicated. My philosophy on this sort of thing is "If you put forth the time and effort and dedicate yourself to it however you can, you can achieve anything". This extends to most things, especially the concept of making a Multi Region game.
