Muppets, Cars, and Torchwood

I went to the movies yesterday and saw another amazing trailer for the new Muppets movie which fills me with all kinds of sugary joy. But more importantly I saw Cars 2, which I somehow never got around to seeing.

Cars 2 was the best thing I've seen this summer. It is 10 times better than Cars was, and that was still a great movie despite being one of the weakest Pixar movies. I love this movie so much I'm gushing. I haven't gushed about a movie so much since Black Swan and before that not since Wall-E. There was not a single thing bad in this movie, not a single thing that was okay and could have been better. The attention to detail, the subtle and not so subtle jokes and references made what would have been just a great and entertaining movie into a sugar raygun dialed up to 11 that just zapped my brain and turned it into a party.

Aaaand also yesterday I saw the new season of Torchwood. I liked the show, you know, back when. It wasn't Doctor Who and it sometimes went a little more adult than was necessary, but it was still a lot of fun. This new American based Torchwood was, well, not the same. I'm not going to say it's bad yet, but my instincts tell me it's going to fall into the it's-so-bad-it's-awesome category. I'm talking about the scene with Gwen and the helicopter if you've seen it. This one.

    Spoiler:

I'm gonna keep watching. I want to see what other crazy things they do.

Coming from what has been declared "the only bad film Pixar ever made", that's a really positive review o_o Now you got me interested.

Muppets = all kinds of wonderful.

But, yeah, I'm with Went on the Cars 2 assessment. You seem to be in the minority on that opinion, Scarfy; but, there's nothing wrong with being a little bit contrarian!

Bad? Well, it's not touching like Up was. It's a summer movie. It's fun. Especially if you enjoy spy movies.

I would tell you, but you should see it for yourself. But I agree. Jack/Gwen is wrong, whether it is in fact being pushed or not. ;)
