X( Omfg. I think I'm going to die. I've been waiting awhile to post this, but I don't think I've ever posted a thread that hasn't been related to Roleplaying in PC, and I get the feeling I'm breaking an obvious rule, but here I go! If I did something wrong, please tell me, because I checked the rules, and I don't think I missed anything....*yes, I'm paranoid I know*

Anyway, I'll post these up one by one. The first time I've posted my drawings on a big forum, so I'm like, freaking out, so ignore me if I start hyperventilating. -.-''

    Drawing 1

I usually don't color my works, but lately I've been doing it just for fun. They're all flat colors, just to let you know. My shading skills sort of suck. Criticism would be highly appreciated, as I want to know what I can improve on.

I think your first drawing is great, but her right foot is cut off. Hehe

Wow, you sound pretty nervous. Don't be worried, I think your anime drawings are really cute and well drawn!
You said you wanted tips on shading. Well, its not that hard once you get used to it. Here, I'll use your first pic as an example.

For beginner's in shading, you'll first want to pick a light source. If it helps, draw a little sun where you want the light to be.

Now it's common sense time. Every place that faces away from the light should be in shadow. Since the light is shining from the right, the shadow part includes most of the left side of her body. Also, the hair behind her head would be in the dark as well, and the underside of her dress too.
If you become stuck on what other parts should be light or shadow, search for pictures and photos because they're good references and will help you in your work.

I think these are really cute! =3 Don't worry, you haven't broke any rules ^^; I remember feeling like that when I posted my first thread here in the Art Gallery XD

    Drawing one:
I love the interesting choices of colors here. ^^ And I love how you drew the text on the right, it's really spiffy! X3
When it comes to shading with coloring pencils, you don't necessarily need to get a different colored pencil unless you want to have a nice two-color blend effect or there some different color light hitting the object. ^^
To shade, it's all about pressure. I usually start coloring a peice of the picture of one color lightly. Then, with the same color, I push hard where the shadows are and go medium to light :3 And when I blend, I do the same thing ^^
If you think you didn't shade at the right places, try observing around and look at tutorials around the web ^^ Those helped me a lot :3
If you still can't get it right, just keep practising I'm sure you'll get it good someday! ^^ Don't forget to observe shadows and textures on real life objects.
Though, I must agree with you that I'm more also of a b+w artist and I color only if I want to. XD
The character looks like a chibi to me :3 It's all short looking and cute x3
I'm a little confused with the face though, I think you drew her mouth open neh? x3 I bet the scanner made the colors a bit brighter then normal then.

    Drawing two:
    Ooh this is a very cool looking character! =D I love the hairstyle a lot ^^ And the things flying around look like little spirits. That's what I think they're are sorry! XD;;
She looks like her body is thrust up a bit so I think the way her clothes look look fine ^^ Her ear should show a little bit on the right underneath her hair.

    I'm not very good at crits and suggestions but I hoped I helped a little bit ^^;
Overall, both of you're drawings are both really cool and adorable x3 They each have a chibi look on them. The designs look like the ones you see in the Pokemon Special manga with a mix of your own ideas. x3~
Just keep practising on coloring and some anatomy and you'll do nicely! =D<3

Cookie luvs Green: ^_^ Wow, you're the first one to notice (or say) that my drawings have a similarity to Mato's art. It's a mix between My style, Bleedman (PPG Doujinshi), and Mato's art. I think it's awesome. XD But I just realized they do look really chibitized. Oh well, that's okay, they still look good to me! ^_^ *Parades Naoko's volume 1-2* Lawl. Green rox. He's so much fun to read about.

aragonbird: ._. ...*dies*. That looks so awesome! So cool. Thanks for the advice, I may try that with one of my older ones and see if it looks good.

Shattered Moon: Thanks! Actually, you'll find in all my drawings, her left foot is cut off, but that's because my scanner doesn't like her feet, and cut them all off. XD

Here's one of my newer ones, and another B&W

    Color 2

    B&W 2
Sadly that ^ is on lined paper. -.-

I'll comment on your first 2 ones because I'm running out of time lol.

The first one, its actually quite good. Her left foot is indeed a little off, but meh, that's easy to fix. Her head is a little bit too wide, but that can be fixed as well. Coloring in colored pencils is not hard except when it comes to shading.

For the second drawing, I'll have to say its nicely done as well. Pencil shading is not bad at all, but that seems more western style than anime. XD; Scratch that if you -meant- to make it western-style. (: Well done.

hey i like them! theyre really good.

    Thanks! You all rock.

Greed: Yeah, the foots supposed to look that way...I think. -.- anyway, western style? Did I miss something?

    Whitewolf:Thanks

    Good drawing

Still I would be carefull about drawing the clothes.
They have to have at least some bends.

Work on the body part and how they bend.
And make the clothes more rounded on her rounded figure instead of making her look so flat.

    Some bends would really help.

Still you got excellent skill. And keep it up you could become a great artist.

    Quite good stuff...
When using color pencils to color...Do not use them hard and only color in 1 direction it will look nicer without those lines and stuff...
