So I just built a team, but before I start EVing I want some opinions. This is my FIRST RMT and I'm just starting to get into the metagame so please excuse my mistakes.

    **NOTE: CHANGES ARE IN BOLD**

    Quick Glance
    *image removed**image removed**image removed**image removed**image removed**image removed*

    THE LEAD
    *image removed*
    Yanmega @ Focus Sash
    Modest
    Speed Boost
    4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

    ~ Bug Buzz
    ~ Air Slash
    ~ Protect / Hypnosis
~ HP Ground / HP Fire / Hypnosis

Main job is to put the enemy asleep and then sweep away. If he dies, Scizor comes in for a KO.

    THE REVENGE KILLER
    *image removed*
    Scizor @ Choice Band
    Adamant
    Technician
    248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
    ~ U-turn
    ~ Bullet Punch
    ~ Superpower
    ~ Pursuit

Pretty self explanatory, Bullet Punch to revenge kill. Superpower to take out Blissey. U-turn to scout. And Pursuit on switch ins. I plan on sending him in after one of my Pokemon gets KOed for a quick kill, then U-turn back and send something else out. I chose Scizor because I've seen him used in many teams. I opted for Mamoswine for it's bulk, but chose Scizor for the speed.

    THE SPECIAL SWEEPER
    *image removed*
    Starmie @ Life Orb
    Timid
    Natural Cure
    4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    ~ Surf/Hydro Pump
    ~ Thunderbolt
    ~ Ice Beam
    ~ Rapid Spin

Special sweeper of the team. The famous BoltBeam combo to take out those that are weak to it or to deliver neutral damage.

    THE SUPPORT TANK
    *image removed*
    Gliscor @ Leftovers
    Jolly/Impish
    Hyper Cutter
    252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 Spe
    ~ Swords Dance
    ~ Earthquake
    ~ Roost
    ~ Baton Pass

This is my support for Salamence and Scizor. SD up then Baton Pass to Scizor or Salamence. With Roost I can keep him in the game longer. Earthquake is there so that I can get some KOs in with him. I chose Gliscor mainly because it looked cool and I thought it would be nice to have it on my team.

    THE STALLER
    *image removed*
    Vaporeon @ Leftovers
    Bold
    Water Absorb
    252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpD
    ~ Wish
    ~ Protect
    ~ Surf
    ~ Toxic / HP Electric

I'm pretty much going to use this guy to stall my way through. I start off with Toxic to inflict status. Then I just stall until they get KOed. Vaporeon is on here because two of my Pokemon are weak against Fire.

    THE END GAME SWEEPER

    *image removed*
    Salamence @ Life Orb
    Naughty/Naive
    Intimidate
    232 Atk / 24 SpA / 252 Spe
    ~ Dragon Dance
    ~ Outrage
    ~ Earthquake
    ~ Fire Blast

The physical sweeper of the team. Earthquake covers Steel types that Ourtage can't touch. Fire Blast for opposing Scizor or Skarmory. I chose Salamence because I've had many successful wins using him in the Battle Frontier. Overall he has has the most KOs out of all my Pokemon. With the introduction of the 4th Gen. and Outrage becoming a physical attack I just couldn't resist using him.

Lead Yanmega is probably a better choice here:

    Yanmega @ Focus Sash
    Modest - Speed Boost
    104 Defense / 252 Special Attack / 152 Speed
    - Protect / Hypnosis
    - Bug Buzz
    - Air Slash
    - HP Ground / HP Fire / Hypnosis

This helps you deal with more common leads by sleeping them and boosting your speed simultaneously. Choose the appropriate Hidden Power that helps your team the most. This will be much more effective than leading with Choice Scarf because you're guaranteed a speed boost at the end of your first turn with the freedom to switch attacks.

Be careful of DD Gyara and Mence, after they set up they can easily sweep a good deal of your team. I would add HP Electric somewhere on Vaporeon to deal with Gyara, and run 248 HP / 252 Attack / 8 Speed on Scizor, which still gives you bulk but also gives you the power that Scizor really needs to successfully scout/trap stuff with U-Turn and Pursuit. It also allows you to revenge a weakened Mence with Bullet Punch.

Mesprit...I honestly have no clue what it's doing here. It doesn't really do much for this team at all. LO or Specs Starmie is definitely a better choice here, it gives you your boltbeam combo, but it also has much higher speed (which allows for a much easier sweep), and its STAB water attacks will be more useful here then Mesprit's Psychic. Starmie also hits Scizor better on the switch with Surf/Hydro Pump. Pretty much any other OU special attacker is going to be more effective than Mesprit unfortunately =(

    Pretty solid otherwise I guess.

The reason why I didn't choose Starmie is because it's a bit fragile. I wanted something with a bit better bulk that could still BoltBeam. Mesprit was the only Pokemon I could think of.

Also, is there an easy way to get the Hidden Power that I want? And how to I get Hypnosis on Yanmega without it evolving?

No not really. You should seriously contemplate getting a flash cart or an action replay if you want to get into wifi competitive. Uhh I have no suggestions on a replacement for mesprit besides starmie, but I do know that several other pokes can run boltbeam-esque combos with Hidden Power Ice and t-bolt (or vice versa with hp electric).

Maybe run over to shoddy battle and test out a couple of mesprit alternatives (including starmie?) so you can really see if starmie's frailty hurts your game.

I agree with Aura's suggestion of LO Starmie, it would give you something to still hard hard yet spin away entry hazards to make life easier for Mence and Yanmega(if it still lives). It's faster and although more fragile would help this team more. Something like this can work.

    Starmie @ Life Orb
    Nature : Timid
    EV : 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
    - Ice Beam
    - Thunderbolt
    - Surf / Hydro Pump
    - Rapid Spin

Your Scizor spread is a bit ew, try the standard 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe or if you want to still keep power but take special hits reasonably well try 212 HP / 216 Atk / 80 SpD.

Switch your Vappy spread to 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpD, you can better bulk that way.

Good luck with this team ^_^

If you want your Scizor to be bulky, then go 248 HP / 148 Atk / 104 SpD / 8 Speed, you're never 2HKOed by LO Timid Latias' Surf with SR up. You still get the same KOs on most stuff, like dealing ~60% to Salamence, enough to OHKO after SR and two LO recoils. 8 Speed to outrun 4 Speed Vaporeon, and 248 HP instead of 252 HP to take less from SR. Otherwise, the standard 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Speed is usually the best.

You have a huge weakness to DD Gyarados, Yanmega only damages for around ~50% with Bug Buzz, and Mesprit is OHKOed with SR up most of the time. Everything else is self explanatory. Simply giving Vaporeon Hidden Power Electric would fix this, which could go over over Toxic or Protect. I recommend using it instead of Toxic as Protect is really useful for scouting Choice users and protecting yourself until Wish is activated.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm still not so keen about breeding until I get HP Electric. Is there a recommended way of doing this? If Garchomp wasn't an Uber would he make a good alternative for Salamence?

Btw how would you guys rate this on a scale of 10?

We dont use number rates here, they are highly pointless and you just get some random noob coming in and going "NUCE TEEM DOOD 3/73475293" or something lol

Ayways, use Aura's evs for Yanmega. They ensure you live 2 CB Azu Aqua Jets, 3 LO Scizor Bullet Punches and a Metoer Mash followed by a Bullet punch from lead Metagross which is awesome.

Also those vappy evs are poop, Max hp/max def plz so you dont get 2hko'd by Tackle, no really..lol

Your team also lacks stealth rock, which makes it easy for high powered threats like Mence, Gyara and zappy to come in and wear you down very easily. Make Gliscor defensive with Stealth Rock/Roosr/Fire Fang/EQ. Fire Fang also ensures you dont auto lose vs SD Scizor.

    Thanks Dark Azelf!
My question about HP Electric still stands as I find it difficult to get the correct HP.

Do the EVs stay the same for Gligar, despite the change in moveset?
