OMG EWW!
The Anime just made Pok?mon Aknowlodgment (sp?) torn!
How can Pikachu defeat a Piloswine with THUNDER SHOCK? O__O
And why Scyther and Electabuzz gets angry when they see red, if Red is at Ash's hat and they dont do anything? And how can Lv. 2 Taillows resist against a Lv. 80+ Pikachu's Thunder shock? Never, NEVER, say the anime make ya learn about Pok?mon...

Plus:
- how Phnapy- level 5- could beat huge Arbok and Weezing?
- how little, weak Goldeen could beat huge plant- Victribell?
- how Pikachu could beat rock type Rhydon?
- why Pikachu could beat Victibell without troubles, but he couldn`t win with little Bellsprout?
etc. etc. etc.

Despite its inconsistencies, I think that because the Anime depicts Pok?mon (almost) realistically, it has to factor in such discrepancies, because it is (almost) real.

Mmm, ''pokemon'' and ''realistic '' are two facts that can't go together....it is just not possible!, Ash lacks of strategy most of the time, or at least in first episodes because is ''random pkmn appears'' go PIkachu!!!, he did not even care what appears, is ''go pikachu''. :\

Well sweetie, you don't learn anything, game wise, you do learn about friendship and other moral goodies. ^0^

But friendship is weird too. Look:
- a little boy faints on the road
- Ash helps him
- Ash and little boy are the best friends

Sorry, but friendship needs a time too. You must meet this person closer etc. and then we can talk about friendship. I understand, Misty, brock and Ash are friends, but Ash can`t be a friend with all people from his journey.

Sure he can...I mean, all you have to be is nice.
And Ash isn't totally unknown, he's famous! "Aren't you....Alf?" so if a semi-famous guy helped me out, I wouldn't get mad at him!
And it's important to remember that 5 year olds watch the show, so they have to pump out as much friendliness into them as possible.

The show would be sort of boring...

If it stuck to the conventional rules of Pokemon like in the games. Frankly speaking, it makes the show much more interesting that Pikachu can take down a Golem or Rhydon by finding a weak point. It would be cool to battle Pokemon like they do in the show instead of just trading hits like the portable games do (of course, that's all they're limited to). But I think you can see my point though. If the strongest Pokemon always won, it would be so predictable.

Nop. Pikachu found a weak point when Ash had a battle with Blaine. But it was only once. Later Pikachu used normal Thunderbolt and he won with Giovanni`s Rhydon, also in Movie First (Mewtwo/Mew thing) Pika used Thunderbolt also, and won with Golem without troubles. In game, thunderbolt is a nothing for Golem or Rhydon or another rock type pokemon, but you can beat grass type pokemon ( if you really want). In anime, Pikachu beat rock type pokemon with his electric attack, but he couldn`t win with little Bellsprout.

I think something like that: if pokemon has a evil trainer (J&J, Giovanni or another bad guy)it will lose. It can have level 100, and Pikachu level 5, but it will lose. Something like that was in anime many times.

*steps in*

Actually, the reason Pikachu cannot attack Golem or Rhydon directly in game is because they're part Ground. However, I have used eletric attacks on Nosepass while training Plusle/Minun, and it being pure Rock, it does deal some damage on them after all. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it still isn't very effective (but Plusle/Minun were at high levels as it was).

So indeed, Electric can hit Rock. What everyone probably means is that it shouldn't hit because of their added Ground types.

Regardless, the show is still following a more realistic sense. If a bolt of lightning hit a boulder in real life, that boulder would be nothing more than smoldering pebbles. However, if the show's being realistic, how can Team Rocket constantly survive so many Thunderbolts and the like? oO;

Forget it. It was already said that real life and the Pokemon world don't mix well. Oh well, I tried...:P

*walks off*

Anime is not realistic. Look at Team Rocket: Pika used Thunderbolt milion times at them, Charizard used Flamethrower at them etc. etc. etc. and they are still alive. Also, Charizard used fire at Ash many times too and Ash is still okay.

Yeah, I know. That's pretty much why I just took everything back.

The Electric hits Rock thing is true, though. ^_^

It's interesting how JEssie and James have drowned more than once, electricuted, burned, and thrown so far in the air in nearly every episode, and yet they're still ok...
I think they are invicible! They can survive anything!

When Pikachu beat Rhydon, it hit it's nose, which is metallic I guess, and when Electric hits metal it does stuff (Don't remember the scientific meaning, but something big happens when Elecricity hits metal) The Bellsprout my be small, but the trainer REALLY worked on it, like how you'd train Tailow to level 93 and beat the Pokemon League. Also, it implanted it's roots into the ground, and Pikachu couldn't hurt it because somehow it made Bellsproud part ground.

Let's just say the anime is more 'scientifical' and the game is more 'easy-type beat type RPG'.

It confuses me really =O Bellsprout was small but very strong, so why it didn`t evolve. But Victribell was huge but really weak, so why did evolve? I know, Weepinbells evolve with Leaf Stone, but if pokemon evolves, it will be stronger. Also, Victribell couldn`t win with little Goldeen. We know, grass pokemon can beat water pokemon, but it had troubles. I really belive, Victribell has a high level. But honestly, in this anime bad guys must lose. Always =/
