I know Im new to the forum, but not entirely new to pokemon...though a bit rusty. :P

I got soulsilver once I heard it even existed, seeing as the original was my favorite. Anyways, Im trying to get back into the swing of things, and I wanted some help/suggestions on what I could do with my pokemon team. I have 6 that I want to use, and will use, and I realize they might not be the absolute best or uber team possible (far from probably), but I like these guys and want to use them to the best of their abilities.

    Here's the team:
    Typhlosion
    Cloyster
    Umbreon
    Drapion
    Metagross
    Skarmory

Each is one of my best from when I played the previous games, so its nice to have them all here now in my favorite setting in the pokemon world.

I do know how to EV train, at least enough to get things worked out correctly. But my goal is still not to make a team to show off, just to have fun with but also battle to the best of their abilities.

I was debating on who to use as a starter, either Metagross or Drapion. I realize Metagross might be the best for that, but I wanted to maybe try Drapion with Toxic Spikes or Cloyster with spikes as a possible starter. If its Drapion, I wanted Cloyster with an ce move or two, and if not, Drapion with Ice Fang.

Typhlosion knows Flamethrower, Eruption, Swift, and Earthquake. Any suggestions to maybe replace Swift?

Umbreon is my biggest trouble spot, I cannot decide if I want to completely take away its Dark type attack moves and replace them with a more toxic-trap moveset. Currently it knows Protect, Confuse Ray, Faint Attack and Bite. I planned on getting rid of the latter two for a good trap type, but would this really work well with this team? Umbreon is really my best against ghost/psychic and i figured just faint attack would be useful for that.

Skarmory is also a trouble point. Honestly, other than Fly, I dont know what the hell would be good for him. Any suggestions?

    /end rant.

Thanks to anyone who reads, and hello too :D

Moved to in-game team rate (as team-based stuff goes here rather than in HGSS), but in case you want this in the main part of Pokémon Strategies and Movesets which is for competitive battling, best check the rules of the section first as you'd need stuff like EVs, items and all... but there are also help/info threads there too to use.

    I'm assuming this is in-game
Skarmory learns some pretty good moves. Fly obviously, but then you could also tack on Night Slash, and Rock Slide would work pretty well too. Then there's Sky Attack, learned from the move tutors infront of the battle frontier.
As for Typhlosion, if you are willing to breed, you can get Extrasensory on it. Then there's Solar Beam, Hyper Beam, and Rock Slide.
Umbreon should keep one of it's dark type moves atleast.

I agree but don't forget to tell him that skarm is also a pokemon for good defense same with metagross.

I my choose my starter depending on who im facing.

If im facing someone who i know its going to be hard to take down and i use my defense pokemon but that is also high on attack such as torterra.

But then again if u know the person is going to be easy as hell to take down and its not worth it then just go for a sweeper.

I suggest you check Smogon.com out thou
