About a couple hours ago I made a high content post about Pokemon. What I can really get help on is that if it is accurate or need to add anything (regardless on images).
So without further ado...

Currently fixing with é's.
"Hello there! Welcome to the world of POKEMON! My name is OAK! People call me the POKEMON PROF..." is the first words you hear when many people played Pokémon Red, Green or Blue. Pokémon is a Role-Playing game made by Game Freak ltd. where you, the main character, control about currently 493 different species of Pokemon and training them for two purposes (according to Pokemon Red): For pets, or in the games case, for training. Pokémon Red and Green, the first Pokémon games were the first two to start the craze known as Pokemon!

Pokémon RBGY (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow): Color Generation (1st generation)
Pokémon Red and Green were the first games to come out in Japan. Both versions of the game have minor differences such as Pokémon encounters, and items in the game. In the U.S, Pokémon Green was turned into Pokémon Blue. Pokémon Green however, never had a release in the U.S, but Japan had a release of Pokémon Blue. Later, the last installment of the game, Pokémon Yellow came out.
The covers for the games showed the first three starter's last evolution; Charizard, Blastoise, and Venasaur.
Both Red, Green, and the "Missing Female Protagonist" appears in the Pokémon Special Manga.
How many Pokémon were in this generation?
There are exactly 151 Pokémon in this game. Mew, the 151th Pokémon is accessible via Mystery Gift, or through a rather known glitch known as the "Mew Glitch".
What was the sprites like?
In my opinion, I think they looked damn ugly. Yellow however, had a improvement. Green and Red both had sprites that looked like it would be animated. *link removed* *link removed*
What was the main story line of the game?
The player, known simply as Red (There are other nicknames to choose from [Trivia: One of the nicknames is ASH, who happens to be the name of the main character of the Pokémon Anime.] ), travels along the Kanto region to defeat the 8 gym leaders, and become the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer. However, Blue (Green in Japan), Red's rival and bully, always appears one step ahead of him, and gets there first. He even becomes the Champion before Red does! Red however, faces many other challenges along the way, the main one being Team Rocket, a infamous group of Pokémon thieves.
In depth description of Red...
Red is a 11-year-old boy from Pallet Town (The starting town of Pokémon RGBY), who became interested in Pokémon after his best friend, Blue (Green), began to stop playing with him and became a bully. He obtains his first Pokémon after Professor Oak calls both Red and Blue in to forfill his wish in completing the PokeDex, the hi-tech encyclopedia which automatically records Pokémon Data. In Pokémon Gold, he is replaced by Lance, and Red is simply known as "Pokémon Trainer". He trains constantly in Mt. Silver and doesn't say a word to his trainers or Pokémon. When you come across him in GSC, he challenges you to a battle, in which he has the strongest level of Pokémon that a NPC could have.
Why is there no female counterpart?
There was a female counterpart in the game who would be named Blue in the Japanese version, but for unknown reasons, was cut out. However, in the third generation, she is remade as "Leaf". The original version of her consists of a 11 year old child with a black dress and white gloves. A appearance of her can be seen in the Pokémon Special.
Were there any expansions to the game?
There were many expansions to the game, and many that fell into canon. One of which being Pokémon Stadium, which uploaded their Pokémon from the first generation games so they can battle in a 3-D environment. This was released for the Nintendo 64.
There is also "Pokémon Snap", which was released in the Nintendo 64 and now available in the Virtual Console for the Nintendo Wii. The main character, Todd Snap (who appears in the anime as well!), has to take pictures of Pokémon. This was a craze back when I was a kid, I remember that you could also print out your pictures at Blockbuster.
Another one was "Hey You, Pikachu!" which was testing out the voice communications technology for the Nintendo 64. The character basically talks to a Pikachu and makes it use commands for the environment. In the 365th day, I nearly cried when Pikachu had to go, but when he came back I loved the game more.
So what's so special about Pokémon Yellow?
Pokémon Yellow is the 4th game released for Pokémon that is canon to the main plot of the Pokémon Anime. Like the anime, you start out with a Pikachu which Professor Oak catches if you run into the tall grass. This Pikachu will also constantly stay out of his ball, much like the anime as well. Also, you can get all 3 starters like Ash did. However, like the anime, your Pikachu couldn't evolve, and the worst part, there are no more Pikachu after this one, which kind of sucks. Also, one of the characters in the Pokémon Special is named "Yellow".
I still play Pokémon Red constantly trying to beat it, and it's still my favorite game.
So now we got passed the first generation, now let's move on the what I believe was the best generation, the metal generation.
*image removed*
Pokémon GSC (Gold, Silver, Crystal): Metal Generation (2nd generation)
Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal were the 2nd games that came out for the Pokémon series. This version of the game included the new region, Johto, which is to the left of the Kanto region. Once you beat the game, you can explore the Kanto region. Crystal appeared later in the franchise, which had a lot of improvements, as well as a female protagonist. In the anime, the main characters of the game, except for the newfound rival (who only makes a cameo appearance in the Japaneses intro), appear in the Pokémon Special "Raikou! Legend of Thunder!", and Gold, Silver, and Kris shows up in the Pokémon Special.
Personally, I loved this generation!
How many Pokémon were there now? There must be some new ones right?
Right. In Pokemon GSC, there are exactly 251 Pokémon, including the legendary birds Ho-Oh and Lugia, which both appear in the Gold and Silver colors. In Pokemon Crystal, one of the legendary dogs (or cats), Suicane, appears on the Box Art.
Please tell me the sprites were better...!
Yes they were. In fact, in Pokémon Crystal, they were animated! *pokemonelite2000 link removed*
What was the main storyline of this quest?
Side note: The events of Pokemon RGBY takes 3 years before this.
Pokemon GSC starts out with either Gold, the male protagonist, or in Pokemon Crystal, Kris (Crystal), the female protagonist. Both have been called over by Professor Elm, the Professor in the Johto region. Along the way, Gold/Kris finds someone peeking through the left side of the window of the Pokemon Lab, and in contact, the boy (who TOTALLY looks like a girl) kicks the main character two blocks. How rude. Anyway, Gold/Kris goes inside to see that Mr. Pokemon has found a important discovery, and wants you to find out. Professor Elm gives you one of the three new starters; Cyndiquil, Chikorita, or Totodile. After you meet Mr. Pokemon, you meet Professor Oak, who gives you a Pokedex and this starts your journey to beat the Elite 4 and again, be champion. However, the boy you met has stolen a Pokemon from the lab, and becomes your rival. He is known as Silver, who treats his Pokemon really horrible and think they are tools of war, and not as friends.
Team Rocket does appear once again, but I however haven't got close to the end. Sorry.
There are no in-depth information with Gold or Kris that I feel are important to tell. Silver however, in the Special Manga, is Giovanni's son.
So there were expansions to this game, right?
There was Pokemon Stadium 2, which expanded on Pokemon Stadium. Like Pokemon Stadium, you make your Pokemon fight in a 3-D environment.
What changed from first to second generation?
A LOT.
One of which making the battle screen improve. Unlike RGBY, there was no experience counter, and had a mark that you have already caught a certain Pokemon. In the Items list, there were individual cases for each item, for example the TM case, the Item case, and the Medicine case. There was also the introduction of PokeGear, which has the Clock, Map, Phone, and Radio (these would be pretty useful in real life, would it?), along with the Time of Day, which shows Morning, day, and Nighttime in the game. Days of the week are also introduced, as well as two new types: Dark and Steel. Also, there are 8 additional badges to catch, which adds up to 16 badges. There was also the introduction of Shiny Pokemon, which made a alternative color to a Pokemon.
Like stated before, this is my favorite generation, and I love it more than the future installments, so let's move on to the 3rd generation!

Pokemon RSE (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald), and LeafGreen and FireRed (Third Generation):
Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald were the start of a new generation of games known as the "Advance Generation". Coming from its name, the games were made in the Game Boy Advance/SP system, which made the games more convenient. Like Crystal, Emerald appears later in the game with a lot of new things added to it. Both main characters appear in the anime, but May is shown more, as she accompanies Ash. Brendan however, shows up in a cameo. Both, known as Ruby and Sapphire, appear in the Pokemon Special Manga.
This game takes place in the Hoenn region, which is far Southwest.
So wait, MORE Pokemon?
Yep, more Pokemon. This time there is 135 new Pokemon, which makes it add up to 386 Pokemon! In the box art, Groudon appears in Ruby, and Kyogre appears in Sapphire. In Emerald, Rayquaza appears in the cover.
The starters in this game are:
Torchic, Treecko, and Mudkip
Wait, so if it's the advanced generation, that means sprites are better right?
Yep, a lot better to be exact. I won't bother giving a link to you since they are pretty easy to find (Hint: Try the Spriters Resource!)
What's the main plot line for this expansion?
LeafGreen and FireRed: See Pokemon RGBY, as they are simply remakes of the games.
RSE:
You start as either Brandon or May, as you begin to move into the town of Littleroot. The Main protagonist is Norman's son/daughter, and the other character is Professor Birch's son/daughter. In the anime, it would appear that the female character would be Norman's kid. Anyway, once you move in, you meet the opposite character you didn't pick (Brandon or May), and he/she is helping Professor Birch complete a Pokemon Research Experiment. Once you get outside, you hear a sound of plea, which shows Professor Birch being attacked either by a Poochyena (Ruby/Sapphire) or Zigzagoon (Emerald). After you pick a starter to save Birch, you receive him and head out to help the other character, and like always, compete to become Champion. However, two competing teams, Team Magma (Ruby, Emerald) and Team Aqua (Sapphire, Emerald) have plans to unlock the legendary creatures, Groudon, and Kyogre to "help" the world.
So what changed?
Other than there being 135 new Pokemon, there are new combinations of types, and the debut of Pokemon Contests, which would show Pokemon being shown in Beauty, Toughness, Coolness, Cuteness, or Smartness. There is also seperate icons for each Pokemon instead of the usual 5 in the previous versions, and the debut of Double Battles, which makes two Pokemon go against two Pokemon. There were many new TMs, and the introduction of abilities.
Were there any expansions?
There were several expansion for this one.
One of which being Pokemon Colosseum, which unlike Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, had a story line with it, which takes place in Orre. The player character, Wes, starts out with either Espeon or Umbreon, and they have to do something. I don't know, I never played it.
Another one being Pokemon X D: Gale of Darkness. This is basically another adventure RPG thing, where the main character uses Pokemon to get through a challenge.
However, the most favorite of them all would be the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. The story starts out with a quiz, to show what Pokemon you would become. You, the main character, awaken to be a Pokemon, and waken up by a Pokemon who would later become your partner and best friend in the Rescue Team. You must rescue and do missions in order to become the best rank, the Lucario Rank. This showed signs of some future 4th generation Pokemon.
Personally, I thought this was a great game, but I also dislike some of the music.
Moving on to the current generation!

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (4th Generation)
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is the recent Pokemon game that came out in April 2007. This game starts out with the two main protagonists, Lucas and Dawn, to finish Professor Rowan's dream of completing the PokeDex for the Sinnoh Region. Sinnoh is placed directly above Kanto according to the anime. Lucas has yet to be in the anime, but Dawn is along side with Ash and Brock in the new series, "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl". Dawn is a contest coordinator in the anime. In the Pokemon Special, Lucas and Pearl, the main character's best friend, appear as Diamond and Pearl as a duo, and guards to Berlitz (what kind of name is that!), who is Dawn. She has to go to Mt. Coronet in order to complete a ritual.
So wait, how many Pokemon are there now?
Exactly 493.
Your starters are Piplup, Chimchar, and Turtwig. Dialga appears in the Diamond box, and Palkia appears in the Pearl box.
What's the main plot line for this story?
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl either starts out with Lucas or Dawn going with their best friend, Pearl, who wants to go the lake in order to seek a Red Gyarados. Once they get there, they meet the opposite protagonist along with Professor Rowan, who went to study the lake and evolution. Once they get there, they notice that Rowan left his case, and since Pearl is so anxious to see what's in the case, you and him get attacked by wild Starly. Once you pick your starters, you can wipe out Starly, and both you and Pearl want to become the best Pokemon Trainers. Lucas and Dawn both go to complete the PokeDex for Professor Rowan. However, a new team called Team Galactic, wants to get possession of Dialga and Palkia, who can render time and space.
What changed?
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have compatibility with the 3rd generation games AFTER you complete the Sinnoh Dex. You can also go online and trade, or battle with other people. The Day/Night system that appears in Gold/Silver appears once more, but has better transitioning. And with the touch screen, you use the Poketch, or the Pokemon Watch. Also, a new type of battling system is used, which shows if a move is Physical or Special. Also, Pokemon Contests has changed. Pokemon Contests now has three rounds, a dress-up round, a dance round, and the classic round that makes you show off moves.
Any Expansions?
The only known expansions to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is Pokemon Battle Revolution, which follows along the line of Stadium and Colosseum, which makes you fight Pokemon in a 3-D environment with online compatibilities.
Also, the soon to be released PokeFarm, which makes you put your Pokemon in a farm environment. Cute.
Well, this would be the end of my mega thread for now. I might add the anime and manga later, and I will show this to my friend and see if I need to add any important details. For now, thanks for reading!
