I recently made a Venom archetype deck, and so far while it hasn't won me any duels yet, it's come close. (My skills as a duelist are seriously bad). This deck focus' on Venom Swamp's ability to reduce my opponent's monster's ATK.

    Monsters, 16 in total.
Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes x 2
Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes x 2
    Venom Boa x 3
    Venom Snake x 3
    Venom Serpent x 3
    Venom Cobra x 3

    Spells, 9 in total.
    Venom Swamp x 3
    Terraforming x 2
    Venom Shot x 2
    Snake Rain x 2

    Traps, 17 in total.
    Bottomless Trap Hole x 2
    Mirror Force x 1
Offering to the Snake Deity x 2
Rise of the Snake Deity x 2
    Snake Deity's Command x 3
    Damage = Reptile x 1
    Venom Burn x 3
    Snake Whistle x 3

very good deck you'll win alot of duels with this i can see how you have thought it and plan your combinations yeah you could actually possibly win any duel even

Thanks for the opinion, but I was looking for more advice, as I haven't won any duels with this deck.

See the sheer AMOUNT of random Traps? Good decks run 1-7 Traps. This is too many.

    Traps should look like this:

    1 Mirror Force
2 Offerings to the Snake Deity
    1 Torrential Tribute
    1 Solemn Judgment
    2 Bottomless Trap Hole

That's IT. Venoms are an okay archetype, but you know that's not really what good decks do. Good decks excel.

If you want to play reptiles, play Reptiliannes. I'll go playtest some Venom decks for you if you want, and I'll be back with some advice, maybe. Generally though, your deck needs to be more defensive. It should include less archetype-exclusive cards like Venom Shot. Decks that rely on a Field Card are generally horrible though, IMHO, unless that Field Card is Secret Village of the Spellcasters, which makes for some epic lulz.

I'd really appreciate if you could try running it, and I prefer to use Venoms, not Reptiliannes.

    Tentative new deck.

    Monsters (18)
1 Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes
3 Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes
    1 Evil Dragon Ananta
    3 Venom Boa
    3 Venom Serpent
    3 Venom Snake
    2 Venom Cobra
    2 Worm Apocalypse (HA01-EN017)

I'm not sure about the Earthbound Immortal, so you can replace that with a copy of Ananta, or at worst a Venom Cobra.

    Spells (15)
    2 Snake Rain
    3 Venom Swamp
    2 Terraforming
    2 Field Barrier
    2 Hand Destruction
    3 Vengeful Bog Spirit
    1 Mystical Space Typhoon

    Traps (9)
    2 Damage = Reptile
2 Offering to the Snake Deity
    2 Limit Reverse
1 Rise of the Snake Deity
    1 Call of the Haunted
    1 Mirror Force

Feel free to take out and add in some cards. I couldn't find enough space to fit in the counter-destruction engine which is below.

    2 Dark Bribe
    1 Solemn Judgment

If you can find enough space that would be excellent.

Some deckbuilding notes - experience I have with building decks.

Never make the Traps MORE THAN A QUARTER of your deck. Try to keep it around that. Spells should take up about 3/8ths of your deck, a little bit more or less is okay. Monsters should be close to half of your deck, and even five-eighths is acceptable in the case of many powerful decks such as X-Sabers and Chaos Norleras.

EDIT: Venom was repeatedly tested. Due to lack of draw power, it has been acknowledged that they do not work very well.

The problem with venom monsters can be summed up with that they have difficulty with any opponent who plans on summoning at least one monster with 1900 attack or more each turn, that is until the venoms get going. This is, however, not often, due to their problem. This renders them ineffectual for the most part, unless you're playing in a tag/4 way duel, when venom swamp becomes somewhat broken.

With most of the Venom monsters, you can use their ability to place Venom counters on a monster, but not allowing them to attack that turn.

This would be useful if you found ways to avoid their counter attack with the new monsters that they summon. Mist body, while it simply slows most decks down, might help here.

Vengeful bog spirit would be of paramount usefulness when you do draw it, so there's no reason not to include it. Otherwise, one would make a deck full of bad cards, claiming that they wouldn't get their good cards when they needed them any ways.

Foolish fool. I said it was good, not that it was bad.

Venoms merit less Vennominaga and more Vennominon. Damage = Reptile and Limit Reverse are epic cards if you can find space for them because Vennominon has an effective ATK of 0 in the graveyard and in the deck. Adding to it with Snake Rain, you'll have a 2000 ATK monster on the field fairly quickly, and you'll get other reptile monsters as well.
