My team has some weaknesses

    Hi everyone,
I made a team on the PC battle server. Is there any way I can improve it, I have a slight weakness to fairy types, even thought I have steel moves.
    Thanks,
    Marugi

The first issue is that 5 of your 6 Pokemon are holding their mega stones. You can only mega evolve one Pokemon per battle, and most Pokemon that can mega evolve need to mega evolve in order to be useful, so some of your pokes aren't going to be as useful as you'd want them to be. Tyranitar and Gyarados don't need to be in mega form to be good so you can start by using different items on them.

Another thing is the sets. Take a look at the stats and abilities of the Pokemon when you're deciding moves, EVs, and natures for them. I'll use your Metagross as an example. Mega Metagross has significantly higher Attack than Sp.Attack, and Tough Claws tends to boost physical moves since those tend to make contact while special moves tend to not. With the exception of Grass Knot (since it gives Mega Meta a shot at dealing with non-Calm Mind Mega Slowbro), physical moves are far better to run on it. But you're running 2 special moves on it, with zero investment in Sp.Attack as well as a nature that lowers Sp.Attack. What exactly is Signal Beam doing for it anyway? A better set would be something like:

    Mega Metagross @ Metagrossite
    Ability: Clear Body---->Tough Claws
    EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 HP
    Adamant Nature
    -Meteor Mash
    -Zen Headbutt
    -Rock Polish
    -Hammer Arm/Earthquake/Ice Punch/Thunder Punch

Adamant works here since you're boosting your Speed with Rock Polish, so it'll be faster than most things and doesn't really need the extra bit of speed from Jolly. Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt are it's bread and butter STAB moves, hitting most things harder than any of its other moves, and then you have your choice of a (physical) coverage move to hit what those two don't hit well (you won't cover everything but it helps). If you wanna use Grass Knot on it you'd need to go Lonely/Naughty if you want +Attack or Hasty/Naive if you want +Speed.

Another major issue is that half your team is Stealth Rock weak and you have no hazard control at all, meaning that the moment someone drops Stealth Rock on your side of the field you're at a disadvantage since your SR weak 'mons will have limited switch-ins and/or a hard time coming in and not dying. Your team also lacks a Stealth Rock setter itself and all competitive teams want SR because of how broken useful the move is.

It also takes more than a couple of random Steel moves to beat Fairies.

So basically the main things that you're gonna wanna do are:

-Decide which of Charizard, Metagross, or Venusaur you want to keep on your team, and then remove the other 2. Then fill in one of the spots with a spinner/defogger
    -Get a Stealth Rock setter.
-Swap the mega stones on Tyranitar and Gyarados for something else.
-Think about what I said in my 2nd paragraph when re-examining your current sets and coming up with sets for the new members of the team.

Also you'll get more out of Fire Punch than Fire Blast on Dragonite because of the physical inclination and -Sp.Attack nature.

I can give you sets and ideas if you want, but I also want to see what you can come up with too.

To add, Charizard X does Dragon Dance abuse better than Charizard Y, as the former has Tough Claws to power up its contact attacks (which happen to be physical). If you pick either of the Charizard forms, this is what they should be running:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Flare Blitz
    -Dragon Claw
    -Roost/Earthquake
    Nature: Jolly/Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite X
    Ability: Blaze

    or
    -Fire Blast/Flamethrower
    -Solar Beam
    -Focus Blast
    -Roost
    Nature: Timid/Modest
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

    or
    -Flare Blitz
    -Dragon Claw/Earthquake
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Roost
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 248 HP/100 Def/160 Spe
    Item: Charizardite X
    Ability: Blaze

    or
    -Swords Dance
    -Flare Blitz
    -Outrage/Dragon Claw
    -Tailwind/Roost
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 40 HP/252 Atk/216 Spe
    Item: Charizardite X
    Ability: Blaze

If you decide on Mega Venusaur, it can go defensive or offensive:
    -Giga Drain
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Hidden Power (Fire)
    -Synthesis
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 232 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef/20 Spe
    Item: Venusaurite

    or
    -Giga Drain
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Hidden Power (Fire)/Leech Seed/Knock Off
    -Synthesis
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 248 HP/96 Def/144 SDef/20 Spe
    Item: Venusaurite

For Metagross, it can go all-out attacking, as it Speed is rather good:
    -Meteor Mash
    -Zen Headbutt
    -Ice Punch/Bullet Punch/Grass Knot/Pursuit
    -Earthquake/Hammer Arm
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Metagrossite
    Ability: Clear Body

The best Defoggers/Rapid Spinners are Lati@s, Starmie, and Excadrill. There are more out there, but these are recommended:

    Latias:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Psyshock/Hidden Power (Fire)
    -Defog
    -Healing Wish
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 72 HP/184 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

    Latios:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Psyshock
    -Surf/Hidden Power (Fire)/Earthquake/Defog
    -Roost/Defog
    Nature: Timid/Hasty
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

    Starmie:
    -Scald
    -Psyshock/Reflect Type
    -Rapid Spin
    -Recover
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 248 HP/8 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Natural Cure

    or
    -Hydro Pump
    -Psyshock/Thunderbolt
    -Ice Beam/Hidden Power (Fire)
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb
    Ability: Natural Cure/Analytic

    Excadrill:
    -Stealth Rock/Toxic
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Mold Breaker

or (only if you intend on keeping Tyranitar on the team)
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb/Air Balloon
    Ability: Sand Rush

Tyranitar can be the Stealth Rock setter for the team or act as a decent revenge killer:
    -Stone Edge
    -Crunch/Ice Punch
    -Pursuit
    -Superpower
    Nature: Jolly/Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe (Jolly) or 100 HP/252 Atk/156 Spe (Adamant)
Item: Choice Scarf (Jolly)/Choice Band (Adamant)
    Ability: Sand Stream

    or
    -Stealth Rock
    -Stone Edge
    -Crunch/Fire Blast/Ice Beam
    -Pursuit
    Nature: Relaxed
    EVs: 248 HP/80 Def/180 SDef
    Item: Smooth Rock/Leftovers
    Ability: Sand Stream

Dragonite isn't a good partner for Tyranitar, as Multiscale will be rendered useless after a turn of sandstorm, which is likely if you bring Tyranitar in battle too often.

Non-Mega Gyarados is better off going the bulky route to take advantage of Intimidate:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Waterfall
    -Bounce
    -Substitute
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 88 HP/220 Atk/4 Def/196 Spe
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Intimidate

    or
    -Waterfall
    -Dragon Tail/Roar/Thunder Wave
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP/104 Def/156 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Intimidate

For alternate ways to deal with Fairies, there's Scolipede, Gengar, Dragalge, and Bisharp:

    Scolipede:
    -Megahorn
    -Poison Jab/Rock Slide
    -Earthquake/Aqua Tail
    -Swords Dance/Baton Pass/Protect
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb
    Ability: Speed Boost

    Gengar:
    -Shadow Ball
    -Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb
    -Focus Blast
    -Taunt/Destiny Bond/Icy Wind/Substitute
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb/Black Sludge

    or
    -Hex
    -Taunt
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb/Substitute
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 8 HP/248 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge

    Dragalge:
    -Sludge Wave
    -Draco Meteor
    -Focus Blast
    -Toxic Spikes/Scald
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 228 HP/252 SAtk/28 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge/Draco Plate/Dragon Fang/Choice Specs
    Ability: Adaptability

    or
    -Toxic Spikes
    -Sludge Wave
    -Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse
    -Scald
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 248 HP/232 SDef/28 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Adaptability

    Bisharp:
    -Sucker Punch
    -Knock Off
    -Iron Head
    -Swords Dance/Pursuit
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe or 204 Atk/52 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb/Lum Berry/Black Glasses/Dread Plate
    Ability: Defiant

    or
    -Sucker Punch
    -Iron Head
    -Knock Off
    -Pursuit
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 192 HP/220 Atk/96 Spe
    Item: Assault Vest
    Ability: Defiant

Remember to take what Nah said into consideration as well.

Thanks for all the help! Here's what I came up with:

    Charizard:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Flare Blitz
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Roost
    Item: Charizardite Y
    Evs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Def
    Nature: Lonely
    Ability: Blaze

For the Tyranitar, I think I'll go with PlatinumDude's idea, but I tweaked it a bit:
    -Stealth Rock
    -Stone Edge
    -Crunch
    -Dragon Tail
    Item: Choice Band
    Nature: Jolly/Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe (Jolly) or 100 HP/252 Atk/156 Spe (Adamant)
    Ability: Sand Stream

I decided to replace Dragonite with Dragalge using PlatinumDude's setup:
    Dragalge:
    -Sludge Wave
    -Draco Meteor
    -Focus Blast
    -Toxic Spikes/Scald
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 228 HP/252 SAtk/28 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Adaptability

For Gyarados, I decided to do this:
    -Aqua Tail
    -Earthquake
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP/104 Def/156 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Intimidate

I also picked latios for defog:
    Latios:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Psyshock
    -defog
    -Roost
    Nature: Timid/Hasty
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

Lastly, I got rid of the Venusaur and replaced it with Whimiscott:
    -Giga Drain
    -Dazzling Gleam
    -Hidden Power Fire
    -Cotton Guard
    Ability: Infiltrator
    Item Choice Specs
    Nature: Timid
    Evs: 252 SpAtk 252 Spe 4SpD

Tell me what you think of this team. Again, a big thanks to both of you for helping me out!

Compare and contrast the Charizard formes' base stats and consider what me and Nah said:

    Charizard X:
    -HP: 78
    -Atk: 130
    -Def: 111
    -SAtk: 130
    -SDef: 85
    -Spe: 100

    Charizard Y:
    -HP: 78
    -Atk: 104
    -Def: 78
    -SAtk: 159
    -SDef: 115
    -Spe: 100

As I already mentioned Charizard X is better at Dragon Dance than Charizard Y for these reasons:
    -higher Attack
-the Tough Claws ability powering up its (physical) contact moves, which Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw are

Charizard Y is better off playing as a full-on special attacker. Refer to the Charizard sets I posted.

Dragon Tail may seem tempting on Tyranitar, yes, but Pursuit provides much better utility than it; it's very useful in catching fleeing Psychics and Ghosts. Choice Band is very detrimental to the defensive set, as it leaves Tyranitar locked into a single move in battle. Defensive Tyranitar appreciates the freedom of switching moves and uses enough defense EVs + a Relaxed nature to avoid the 2HKO from Choice Band Dragonite's Earthquake and +1 Charizard X's Dragon Claw. Banded Tyranitar uses all offensive attacks, some bulk, and some Speed investment (enough to outspeed 0 Speed Mandibuzz).

Gyerados should be the Dragon Tail/Roar abuser, as it has the bulk, typing, and Intimidate to do so. Earthquake will just leave it walled by Grass Pokemon. Dragon Tail/Roar won't be affected by their negative priority if they get picked by Sleep Talk.

Whimsicott's main niche is abusing its wide support move pool with Prankster. You're just wasting that away, as Whimsicott's offensive presence is meh. Choice Specs leaves Whimsicott locked into a single move while it's in battle, and what's the point of Cotton Guard in the first place when Whimsicott will be locked into it with Specs? Also, I hope you realize that Whismicott has a stronger Fairy STAB in Moonblast:
    -Moonblast
    -U-turn
    -Encore
    -Stun Spore
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Prankster

Yeah, I noticed most of those things after I made the post. I'll try mega charizard x instead. I also took off most of the choice items as I realized it wasnt that great of a strategy.
